    I used to quote the "I don't want to sell, buy or process" lines occasionally my senior year when it seemed like people were constantly asking about my post high school plans. Lol 25 yrs later and I still feel pretty much the same way. 😊

      @@myemodiaries901 The last 10 yrs, I've been doing accounting work. Basically, accounts payable/receivable. However, I don't do the actual selling or buying. I just write or take the checks when they tell me to. Lol So in that sense.. I suppose I'm not technically "selling, buying or processing anything" personally, even though the company that I work for does. 😁😄

      John Mahoney's character seemed a bit inconsistent. He seemed to genuinely like Lloyd and then suddenly he wanted something better for his daughter.

      @JONES My daughter is studying to be a DVM so she can take care of herself. That's the best move you can make for your daughter ensure she can take care of herself.
      I'm just not that concerned with those things which most dads are concerned with. Loyd has a good heart I do not care if he is ever successful by modern standards.

      There were some wonderful actors in the Brat Pack. Anthony Michael Hall, Andy McCarthy, Emilio Estevez. Come on. Even Robert Downey Jr is sometimes called a member. John Hughes wanted Cusack to play Bender in The Breakfast Club but was overruled by the studio who wanted a tough guy for the part.

      @LarsIsaac Olson Not really, kickboxing is fantastic training for striking in MMA. All Lloyd would need to do is train a grappling martial art like judo or jiu-jitsu to round out his skills and he could start competing on the local pro circuit.

    I don’t know about anyone else at that age, but I absolutely hated when people talked to me in such a condescending way like the guy at 0:38 It was really none of their damn business and even if I did tell them what I wanted to do they’d tell me that wasn’t what I should be doing.

      Agreed. Those people with their perpetual fake smiles and know-it-all attitude pissed me off. I had someone ask me something similar once, but I wasn't so nice back then and told them I wanted to be America's most prolific serial killer. They laughed, I kept my composure and played it serious...they got uncomfortable and her dad changed the subject. He was a good dude, we had a good laugh about it afterwards.

      He's a great actor but I felt his character in this was a bit inconsistent. He seemed to genuinely like Lloyd for half the movie and then does a 180 towards the end.

    I haven't seen this movie in years, but I think John Cusack does Kick- Boxing pretty well in this Movie. I don't recall him doing Martial Arts in any of his other Movies. I could be wrong about that.

      Grosse Point Blank, Wars Inc., Dragon Blade were a few others. He’s been training since Say Anything with Benny Urquidez whom is a full-contact fighting pioneer and at one point studied under Ed Parker (a sensei of Chuck Norris and Dan Inosanto).

      From the interviews I’ve seen, the most appealing thing about Cusack is that he seems to have a strong awareness of himself.
      It’s as if he is the kind of guy that wouldn’t feel compelled to compare himself to others, or indirectly fish for complements on social media. I would say that’s an attractive quality.

    I love this clip! It's almost making fun of the earlier woke, which makes it that much funnier! Cusack had some very cheesy movies early on, but he pulled off the goofy guy real well (i.e.- Better Off Dead).

    I was in the 6th grade when this movie came out. Back then, his answer felt sensible and clever. Now, I’m 42 and very much part of the “establishment.” My opinion now would be, “get out of my house loser.” Funny how we change over time.

      And I don't think it's funny at all...Losing the ideals/values/commitment of your youth (which begins pretty much at Kindergarten and is slowly diluted beyond) to the "pressure of society" and what THEY tell you is the "correct way." Schools focusing on intellect over AWARENESS, chasing Money over substance/emotion, conditioned to use Ego over Enlightenment...smh
