    as a punk teen in Texas, we bought this industrial compilation at hot topic and foetus had a swing song on it... then hey, turned out he was playing at Gypsy Tea room (2001?)... got to see, LIVE, almost 2 hours of high octane, sweating, blaring... furious-ing... doors were at 9, he didn't take the stage til MIDNIGHT. And it was a school night, oh yes. But JGT spent all the preshow lounging, drinking, and chatting with anyone who walked up. As written in England's Hidden Reverse, he seems like a generally friendly and supportive guy. I wonder if that was the last time he performed in Texas.

      JGT is a modest and approachable person, far as I know. Genius is not always aloof, arrogant and vain.

      @@leendertzoutewelle286 well if he didn't have some of those qualities, we'd be standing here admiring JGT: Used Book Vendor

    This man. I've been a fan since '87. I had to replace my copy of "Soak" (lost in Italy somewhere, I think). New copy arrived with "To Steve: Best, JGT." Jaw hit floor.

    The beat is so uplifting, inviting, and lively, while the vocals and lyrics are rough, dark, and misanthropist. The stark contrast this creates is a whole different brand of brilliance!!
    This should be the opening theme to a REALLY badass movie.

    I first heard him in 1982 and can't believe how much varied, accomplished and catchy stuff he's done in the intervening decades and that he's still not famous.

      I'm sure he used to work in Windsor and Newton on Rathbone Place, used to wear a pink leather jacket.

      Roomof Wires Sounds plausible. He probably wasn't quite making a living from music at that time.

      he's like the H.P Lovecraft of his age or Edgar Ellen Poe of his generation. the irony is that he's still not very famous regardless of how much effort and quality his music contains, he's still the same underdog, despite some of his work in television shows being famous he's still unchanged by this, which to me is why I love him still and his unyielding will.

    Foetus really captures that mood of "Refined as f-ck rage". You're angry sure, but fuck me, just throwing a simple rage fit is so blasé and pedestrian... Let's get the fucking orchestra involved.

  • @DJBuglip
    @DJBuglip 11 лет назад +8

    Yeah, there's lots of big band Foetus, and it's all friggin' incredible! He did the majority of it by himself, I believe. Just almost disheartening, he's so damned talented.

    This should have been a hit, or at least the lead track on a full on Foetus album. Such brilliance on a b sides album? It deserved better.

      common in the production to discover a hit but it be a one off for the band.

      Count Cocofang Well, his album PTTM as his alias Wiseblood has more jazz/swing type stuff like this. Also try the album Flow, it's got a few jazzy ones like Heuldoch 7B.
