My dad was a huge fan of Clannad & Enya. When he died in 1993, they played this song when they brought him to his last resting place. I was 10 yrs back then. It took me 20 yrs to listen to this music without breaking down immediately. Still tears spring to me eyes. Music reminds me of him and how much I still miss him everyday. So beautiful.
I remember watching "Harrys Game" back in the 80's and teh final scene always stuck in my mind to this day. Hearing Clannad singing the song always takes me back to that evening, at home when I was a lad. There are a few times in ones life (If you're lucky) when you remember a minute in time in every detail. This was one such time. Thankyou.
I love Clannad and their music. They represent Ireland and the (ancient) Irish people in all their beauty. I am Dutch, never have been yet to Ireland, but when I hear Clannad's music it's like I am being there, feeling the Celtic spirit. Like coming home. There is some spiritual connection of Ireland to the rest of Europe and Clannad is its ambassador.
Saw them 2 weeks ago - waited 30 years for the opportunity and they were amazing - an experience I will never forget. Such lovely people to talk too as well .
From 🇬🇧and grandparents from county mayo and kildare, feels like as a British Caulfield missed out so much of my heritage. This music is perfection, so drawn to it,still get goose bumps. Well done 👏🥰
0:23 Leo’s Tavern😻 Loved to visit it everyday when being there, back in June 1992❣️ Still seeing the pictures of Barney, serving the beers behind the bar within this nice and cozy tavern - and of course Leo, sitting in the front of the stage, performing nice Irish ☘️ songs behind his accordion 🪗 with great passion every night😻 He even dedicated us a song we wished to hear again on our last evening with the introducing words: "…the next song is for these two Germans over there, who stayed at Paidi Óig and drinking at Leo’s tavern"🫣🤭 We also met Birdin and Olive, two younger sisters of Máire. Both signed my version of 1991 released Clannad Album Anam, which I brought with me one of these evenings back in June 1992. Nice memories, which are still with me after all these years😻 …and yes - for me the start of listening to the music of Clannad was also watching the series "Robin Hood" in the 80‘s😻 Thank you Clannad and both families for such a nice and stunning music and moods that comes with it❣️
Have followed them since I was a kid watching Robin, seen them live many times over the years and for the last time a few weeks ago on their farewell tour. Simply perfect in every way and gives me shivers every time see them.
I first saw Clannad in the summer of 1976 in Donegal and this year I will be seeing them on their farewell tour in Prague (hopefully). They have been a touchstone for me through the years with their beautiful melodies and I will be sad to see them go.
I don't know how I managed to miss seeing this fantastic video before now, but nevertheless I really enjoyed it. I have been a very big fan of Clannad for over 30 years and can remember vividly seeing them for the first time in concert at the Odeon Hammersmith in the mid- eighties. Since then I became hooked on their unique brand of music and was so keen to find out where exactly they all came from. I remember asking one of them that question outside the stage door after that concert. I was told Donegal in Ireland. Having never been there in my life I just had to go and visit as soon as I could. So out came the maps followed by a trip down to the travel agents. And there I was in Donegal ( arriving at Carrickfinn Airport ) feeling pretty happy with myself although a little lost until a local person pointed me in the right direction of Gweedore and Leo's Tavern ( Home of Clannad ) Well, from that time onwards I managed to visit this great area three times a year, right up until late December 2019 and early January 2020, unaware of course that the dreaded Covid 19 was about to kick in. I got to know Moya', Paul, Ciaran, Noel, and the late Padraig Duggan, (RIP) very well in all those years while I was there, and also other members of the Brennan family, like of course their famous Dad and Mum ( Leo & Baba ) lovely people ( RIP Leo ) much missed but still thought of. Their music will be with me until the end of my life, but in the meantime I've got their u tube videos. Thank you Clannad ...Hope you are all well and keeping safe in these very strange times.
I was hearing clannad the first time in my life in the robin hood series, and i was blown away! Later when the wall was falling in germany , my first CD Album i bought was a Clannad CD (of course from Robin Hood🤗) and second an Enya CD. Thanks for this beautiful mystical mysic. Greetings from germanys east side🤗🤗
CLANNAD FIRST HEARD THEM IN 1973 I HAVE BEEN HOOKED EVER SINCE. LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING THEM IN SEPTEMBER 2022 IN MILWAUKEE WISCONSIN USA (PABST) THEATER.
Tworzycie wspaniałą muzykę,taką natchnioną,magiczną sentymentalną,dużo by jeszcze wymieniać.Jestescie wspaniali, słuchaw waszej muzyki ijestem mocno głęboko wzruszony.Wspaniale się słucha, życzę wam dalszych muzycznych sukcesów .Pozdrawiam serdecznie.
When I hear Clannad’s music, I am seeing myself at the Irish coast, mountains in back, green fields, stormy weather, some Irish taking me to the local pub to have a nice beer and spiritual talk about the meaning of life 😀 🇮🇪
@@blackporscheroadster6415 Wrong, I've seen all of the bands I wanted to see live, which totaled 105. The only other bands I did not see live in performance was Steely Dan and Rush. I don't know of 1,000 bands l cared to see in concert. So how could I not see 1,000 bands I didn't care to watch live or even heard of?
OK now I remember where I first heard this band - in the 80s they had a sort-of hit-ish thing. The only thing I remember of it was that it was so muted and slow and murky that it turned into an formless morass of... something. But they have so much more to offer, and I'm glad they survived to give us this new music :-)
300 million people who bought 300 million more U2 albums than Clannad would disagree. Let me see now ignorant loser Phil's opinion or 300 million people. It's a tough one...
Who presented the award? I don't think it could have been Bono. It didn't look as though he was there. I don't think he ever performed "In a Lifetime" with them after the initial recording and the initial video.
Moya is beautiful. She could still wear her hair dark as it would still be in keeping with her "Winter"colour pallett. The blondish hair is ageing and gives her skin an all over greyness.I hope this does not offend. Its a professional opinion from a seasoned Colour Analgyst.Thankyou.
I remember having a vinyl LP of theirs back in the day. Think I got it from Britannia music company and chose it because I was a huge U2 fan and was impressed with Bono's vocal on In A Lifetime. Always thought U2 should have incorporated more Irish influences. There are some on the earlier albums, but then it became more Americanisms.

@@gregobrien4384 Yes, for me, I wasn´t disappointed. What a beautiful country!
There is a connection. Greg O´Brien is right. Ireland was one of the best holidays up until now for me.

I've been loving Clannad and Enya for at least 25 years. Thanks so much for all the beautiful music!
Their music gives me the chills. Love it!
a lump in my throat and a tear in the eye.

They always manage to give me goosebumps when I hear them. Lovely ethereal sounding music.
She has such a beautiful voice
It's awesome that they had Bono introduce them!
Well...They've always been his favourite band.
Love the band since i heard it during a school trip Wales in 1990. Went to several concerts, always magical and great sound.
First note into the song I am covered head to toe in goosebumps

Some of the greatest musicians in the world.. and Bono
Andrew Bevan and bono?
Bono biggest irish musician ever
Andrew Bevan the greatest jealous loser in the world.
Pure Magic ♡
Clannad are legendary!
Clannad. Giants of Irish Music
Moya's voice, especially on "Harry's Game"
So haunting, I cannot help welling up
I dare you - I dare ANYONE - to keep a dry eye when she performs "Down by the Sally Gardens."

Bonos best Donegal accent.
I find it just a wee bit odd that a traditional Irish pub like Leo's would have an advert for a German beer on its gable end. ;-)

They`re The Corrs

The Celtic mysticism in MUCH MORE than the damn music, man! Just look into Moya's eyes, there's a lot more than that even!

I love Clannad and Enya, but I couldn't give a rats arse for Bono and U2.
That's because jealous losers like you don't like highly successful winners like U2.
