I've never made a pop-up and now have the courage after watching this video. Thanks for keeping it real Kimberly and taking us along as you figured it out! In my opinion they are the best videos to watch.
Thank you for the tutorial. I've made several of these. The first one was for my husband's car (made to match his interior) and he liked it so much, he requested another to match when he got a new car. I've also made them for my sewing area. But no matter how many I make, I still get confused and struggle with the pattern! Having a video to go by will be so helpful on the next one. 🩵
I loved when this came in the sew sampler box. I was a little intimidated but finally sat down and tackled the project. It wasn’t that difficult but it took patience to do it correctly.
I made one for my big (oldest of 3 girls) sister & she used it for a few years. When she passed away, our younger sister got it & she uses it. Fond memories shared. Great video FQS!!
I will definitely make the Fat Quarter Pop-Up now that there is a tutorial to sew along with and hopefully prevent major errors on my part. Thanks to Kimberly and staff for all the extra work that goes into making the tutorial. 🤩🤩🤩
I have made two. The small and medium. The small is for scraps next to my second machine and the medium I use to store patterns. I rarely collapse them though. I did add the elastic and the loop because you never know how your needs change over the years. Thanks for sharing a “non Quilty” project.
Oh yay!! I have had this pattern for 2 years and haven't made it yet - this video has encouraged me to get it out and do it! Thank you Kimberly for giving me a kickstart! I love the way you keep popping it up at the end, haha! Great video🥰
Nice job! Love the fabric. I have made a few of these without the spring. I just quilted, with a cross hatch and it stands up nicely, although it doesn’t “pop” up when pressed down. Using the free arm on your machine certainly helps and if you make the circle a bit smaller, you don’t need to gather the fabric for it to fit. Easier way to section each quarter of the circle…fold in half away from yourself, crease edges unfold and mark, rotate a quarter turn and then repeat.
One of my favourite videos to date. Kimberly thank you for keeping the tutorial real and taking us along as you figured it out. I really appreciate the authenticity.
Thanks for sharing. I made mine several years ago. I bound the raw edges of the circle and glad I did. I use mine for thread and small fabric trash on my cutting table. I’ve considered another but adding a vinyl on inside so threads slide out easier when emptying. 😊
Great video! I made this with just a few changes. I made the hanging strap a bit longer, and I put bias tape on the edges before I turned it. It’s still a bit bulky, but it’s finished. I also cut a circle of template plastic to put in the bottom, which makes getting all the scraps and threads out a bit easier
I have that pattern but I have not attempted to make it yet. Thanks to you, Kimberly, I am now motivated to make it! Always appreciate your awesome tutorials! 😊
It was so helpful seeing you struggle on certain steps and then find your way. Makes me feel braver to try some of these projects. I normally feel so stupid when i hit those confusing steps. Thanks again for a great video!❤
I made one without the interfacing. It worked well. This video was super helpful since I want to add a second one but haven’t done this in ages! Thank you.
Thank you so much for doing a tutorial on this! I have wanted to make it since getting it in the see sampler box but I wasn’t very confident in myself. It is nice now having it on video to watch!
Thank you for the tutorial. I loved watching you make this as I am very visual. I will now make this with since you took out the confusion and use your suggestions.
It looks great! I am not a fan of making fiddly things but if I made this, knowing what you did, I would probably do pretty much the same. I would take the time to switch thread to Glide, or a similar slippery thread, before gathering the circles. It’s cute!
I made this but with a few changes. I eliminated the little hang up tab. Instead I made an approximately 13" long tube x 3" wide (fold in half lengthwise and then fold edges in just like the little tube) and only topstitched one side. Then threaded my elastic through it. So the elastic was encased. I stitched the elastic at both ends to keep it in place and the fabric tube was gathered (but will stretch as needed). Place the elastic ends where the little hanging tab should have been. This gives me a bigger hanging loop and then when done will also be the piece that helps hold it flat. I used a contrasting fabric scrap and the same for the inside bottom of the basket. I did zigzag the inside to prevent raveling and make it stronger. Serging would work as well once it is basted into place. I do agree with another poster, wish I would have made the bottom a little stiffer.
I'm so glad you did this lol. I have 3 in 2 sizes and haven't made any. I didn't even look at the instructions yet. I was wondering why you would need safety pins at the beginning of this, makes sense. I was wondering what the elastic was for too lol. Awe, bummer...I like finished edges even when it's on the inside and not seen. Maybe I'll throw on some bias tape. So funny how it just takes watching someone else do something to get you motivated enough to try it yourself lol.
Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been thinking about making this but was thinking it would be too difficult for me. Seeing you do it makes me think I can give it a try!
I am so glad you did this video. I have a hard time with patterns with alot of words. I would rather look at pictures than read all the details. Now I know I can do this after watching you, you did all the hard work. THANK YOU!!
I have always wanted to make one, I am a very visual learner…thanks Kimberly, now I feel as though I could do this pattern……feel free to do more tutorials on bag making….lolol…
Thank you so much for making this video! The instructions were so difficult for me to understand! I’m not sure why! But I have two of these and want to make them, but just was so frustrated. Now I can refer to your video! You’re the best!
I used seam tape to cover the raw edge at the bottom before I turned it right side out. Narrow bias tape would work too. ( I don’t like exposed raw edges😆)
Thanks! It was great to watch you make this! It's hard to make something for the first time when you're not sure about certain steps. Yours looks nice.
I have this pattern and was intimidated to make it. I’m going to try and make it with the help of your tutorial. I will let you know how it works out. 🥴 Thanks for the tutorial! 😊
As most have said, I will definitely try to make mine now using Kimberly’s video. Thank you SO much for making it. I won’t travel with it so I may leave the elastic piece off. Hope you make more videos like this one for us.
I have seen photos of using scraps to make an accent band. I think you could go very quilt artistry with this. I loved getting this kit from Fat Quarter shop. I had recieved a few of these in nylon from my card-making company and love them at my work table
Thank you so much for making this video! I wanted to make this since I got it in my SS box but have been too scared to try it! You made it look so easy and now I will give it a try 😊
I have their windsock kit, which is very similar. I’m kind of scared to try it. I’ve watched a bunch of videos though so maybe I’ll tackle it this spring! 🤞🤞

Thank you for doing this in "real life". Makes me feel so much better when i don't get something right away.
Thanks for making this on camera! Now I will be brave enough to make mine!
Thank you for the tutorial. I've made several of these. I made it in about 1 1/2 hours. Turned out so cute. Now I want to make a little bit larger one Thank you.
Thank you so very much
I really like your make and review style with the changes you'd make if you tried this project again. Thanks, Kimberly.
I’ve made that and for a person that hates to read directions I thought it was confusing pattern! You made it look easy!!
I want to give this a try! Thanks Kimberly for working out the kinks through the tutorial 😂
I made this years ago and still watched all the way through. That spring popping is satisfying. lol
I've had the pattern and supplies for years and was intimidated to make this. Thank you for great tutorial.
Same here. Thanks Kimberly for doing the video. Really helped.
You did it Kimberly! Good Job! Patterns like this stress me out!
I have not attempted one yet. Thanks for the demo, I will try it now. Please film more demos like this.
I made one for my big (oldest of 3 girls) sister & she used it for a few years. When she passed away, our younger sister got it & she uses it. Fond memories shared.

I’ve had this hanging on a hook in my sewing room taunting me. Thank you for taking the scare out of this pattern ❤

Me too! Need to get this made!
Oh dear, me too. Might make this today 😊

I wasn't going to make mine. It looked way out of my league but now I may try! Thanks for this and showing that it's okay to learn from a project! :)
Thanks for sharing. I made mine several years ago. I bound the raw edges of the circle and glad I did. I use mine for thread and small fabric trash on my cutting table. I’ve considered another but adding a vinyl on inside so threads slide out easier when emptying. 😊

❤it! You did a great job. I look forward to making this.😊

I love your videos. You’re a natural teacher …. Coming from a teaching family. Thank you
Thank you Kimberly!! I have several of these in my stash for yrs. Now i wont be afraid to try one. Especially xl one.

Hi Kimberly, good job
Thanks, Kimberly. I appreciate the lesson in making this basket. I've been wanting to make one.
Perfect video today. I have this out to make today. Never made this before. Thanks Kimberly
Sweet!!
I have made this and I’d say it’s one of my favorite sewing room staples.

I would probably found a way to cover the elastic. Thanks for the tutorial. Juki is the best piecing machine. 🎉
Great tutorial Miss Kimberly. I’ve always wanted to see how these pop up baskets were made. Thanks so much for taking the time to show us.
Thanks for the video. I received one of these as a party favor at a retreat and now I appreciate it even more.
Haven't made one, always thought it was difficult, now I see one being made they look kind of fun. Thank you for showing how it's made.

This is a fantastic pattern. I have made several...loves watching your process.
I did make it! Received it in my monthly subscription, and I love it!
Do you remember what month this project came in? Thanks
@@carmenmaldonado2982 , I don't remember I had a few projects I received and during December decided to put all of these together.
@@carmenmaldonado2982 , found it in the Oct 2024 box.
So grateful for this. I went hunting for that project in my room like a mad woman 😂😂😂😂thank Kimberly and FQS
Thanks! It was great to watch you make this! It's hard to make something for the first time when you're not sure about certain steps. Yours looks nice.

This was so helpful. TY
I got a blue one of these in my sew sampler box a few years ago and still use it. I am glad I didn’t have to make it!!!!
Thank you! You made it look SEW easy!
I haven't made this. To color coordinate the plastic, if possible, would be 1 change that I would try.
I had recieved a few of these in nylon from my card-making company and love them at my work table
thanks for doing this!!..inspiring!! and fun to listen to ya
Glad you did a video on the pop up basket. I now will attempt to make one foe my scraps.

Nice job!!!! Love it.
I haven’t made this but I love making small functional things. I would probably leave off the elastic and the hanging tab, but it’s all good.
Great job,enjoyed it.
Great tutorial, thank you.
Thank you for this tutorial, it has taken the fear out of doing the pop ups. 😍
Thank you so much for making this video! I wanted to make this since I got it in my SS box but have been too scared to try it! You made it look so easy and now I will give it a try 😊
