Thank you Rob. We South Africans need more openess as what the hells going on in our country South Africa. South African society need to start speaking in one voice, especially against entities and groups who wants to control our assists for personnal greed especially outsiders..South Africans need to be guided, empowered and funded if necessary, so that we ourselves grow in these fields.
Why don’t they list it on stock exchange and allow the South African public both locally and aboard to by shares. They then become custodians of the brand, bringing in funds from overseas South Africans. List SARU and avoid selling our brand.
These so-called private equity partners have no interest in rugby or the Springboks. Their sole interest is money. How much they can make for themselves off the back of others. The welfare of SA rugby is not at the heart of the matter. Greed is.
Sounds all rather familiar. We had the arms deal and the nuclear deal and the e toll saga. Where commissions to be paid were the most important part of the deal.
A stadium that sells say 10 000 tickets at R300 versus a stadium that sells 50 000 tickets at R100. And dont forget it means more employmant oppurtunities for staff. Security, cleaning and maintenance, catering, car guards, etc. think about it. When you see people of all colours enjoying each others company. Imagine if each 🇿🇦 was voluntarily forced to attend 20 games in 25 weeks. wow. What a rainbow nation we would be. T20 cricket and 7s rugby too.
What saru must do is to make a huge effort to get people to go to stadiums again, then everything from TV advert investment will grow.and I mean from curry cup to URC
Well said. !!! We definitely need money, apart grass roots development, we need to fund academies, then paying the Boks to play for SA teams in the URC. We could add a fifth’ team. Problem with SARU is who are they? I see them on TV have no idea - why do they have those positions? None of them played rugby for SA. What I do know is they are fat cats that probably collect big salaries and fly around watching the Boks.
Hersov is being kind to SARU. You are too kind Rob, SARU is up to anc corruption tricks, it is my firm opinion that there is absolutely no way that SARU is honourable here. This is incompetence AND some sort of corrupt "hankie pankie" on the go here. BOOT THEM OUT there are way better people in this country
There is literally no one from the ANC on the board of SARU. This racial hate needs to stop anytime something goes wrong you want to blame blacks. Look up the SARU and who is in charge instead of showing your obvious racial bias.
@@thabomahlangu8041 You are talking bullshit. I never said one thing about racism. In fact, the opposite is true the fact that you read racism into what i said indicates that is your preoccupation, not mine. What I said about SARU has nothing to do with racism and everything to do, at best, with incompetence and at worst crimminality. I don't care who runs SARU I care about the result (administratively) because that is their job. So take your preoccupation and fuck off.
Ahem... Look what happened with Gary Packer the Australian Magnate and the World cup cricket...It became a troublesome headache. Where there's money there is always some type of bent deal being facilitated at the expense of innocence bystanders, being the hard working honest group of people. Also has happened to the Comrades debacle... 😢😮😢.
Sa Rugby don't market the brand globally and that's why they don't have the cash. They need to learn from football. The clubs like Manchester make an absolute fortune from shirts and other branding material. If they market the brand I Japan we should be rolling in cash. If they take the team to US and build the brand they can build a loyal fan base. Instead they do stupid deals like the Nike limited edition shirt deal. Insanity.
But if the meeting went ahead by all accounts the deal would have been voted down as SA Rugby had failed to get the required majority and they knew it ..SA Rugby needed to postpone to buy time ...Gayton duly obliged ....A cynic may even say he was working with SA Rugby not against..
Rob, I checked......In February, 2022, Silver Lake purchased 8.58% of the All Blacks for U$133.6 million giving a total valuation of U$1.557 billion. It would appear that the offer made to SARU calls for a higher percentage (20%) of control for a lower investment of U$75 million. Using a similar offer for the All Blacks back in February, 2022 would have cost Silver Lake U$311.4 ......that's two years and eight months ago.......without the premium associated with a fourth World Rugby title for the Springboks. Eddie Jordan probably figured that there would be bonafide negotiations around the "percentage of control" and "the investment outlay". Personally, I believe the offer to be reasonable but should be confirmed and adjusted after some due diligence. My main concern would be the absence of a track record by the Ackerley boys because the necessary business acumen/track record is more important than the capital outlay. I'd like to see what the Ackerley boys would do with a 7.5% for U$142.5 million. The trend is that huge money will be offered in future, for sports teams that are willing to "relocate"........even though that would upset local fans. Keep in mind that the major markets in the Ackerley backyard are Miami, Chicago, New York and Los Angeles. As you know, Barry Ackerley, the father, used to own the NBA team called the Seattle Supersonics and sold it to Howard Schulz, former Starbucks CEO, for U$200 million, who in turn sold the team to Clay Bennett of Oklahoma City for U$350 million. The former Seattle Supersonics team is now called the Oklahoma City Thunder and the team is now valued at just over U$3 billion not including debt. The Ackerley sons could be looking down the road at a major financial gain for their stake in a prestigious four time world champion rugby franchise.......negotiate well. 😉
U can bet yah bottom Dollar 💰 this deal being in South Africa is going to be neferous deal...How else.? Cos, whatever right is wrong and whatever is wrong is right. Who cares.? Welcome to da Gangsta State.😊😅😂....
Incompetency comes from criminals taking chances. Cos, a crook doesn't wanna do the time so he does the crime. Thinking he is Brilliant at what he does.It works both ways😮. If U are sauve enough U can convince anybody whose stupid enough to go along with U for the ride.😢😅😊.
Thanks Rob and gayton!save our rugby pls!

List SARU and avoid selling our brand.
@hunterbruce1064 No ways, than they won't get kick backs brown envelopes. When administrators have more say than the players and fans you get this.

Its our national team. Save SARugby from exploitation
Whoever tried to do this deal should be fired and investigated immediately...
Some of the top dogs at SARU were handed money under the table. It's gonna come out.
Tim from eggchasers an English man ,listen on how he explains about the English premiership where they are because of this money been thrown around...
Investigate the Ticketmaster monopoly, profit structures and commisions paid to officials. Cheaper tickets, fuller stadiums.
Mckenzi we love ower rugby.❤❤❤SA rugby must stay SA.
Sounds all rather familiar. We had the arms deal and the nuclear deal and the e toll saga. Where commissions to be paid were the most important part of the deal.
Apparently the board members were going to get huge commission on the deal.

Gayton please investigate kickbacks and exspose then fire with costs.
Sometimes I wonder about leaving SA long ago .... I see good things BUT why wonder ... when people are still trying to f*ck it up ...??
I also read a few articles on this equity deals a few weeks ago...n I also thought 20% for 75 million dollars is was ridiculous...😂

Let's hope sanity previals. This deal does need some serious oversight.

Grow the brand. Why, they are winning so why sell any part of the springbok.
ditto gideon du plessis
Probably a dodgy deal to enrich only one or two
But if the meeting went ahead by all accounts the deal would have been voted down as SA Rugby had failed to get the required majority and they knew it ..SA Rugby needed to postpone to buy time ...Gayton duly obliged ....A cynic may even say he was working with SA Rugby not against..
SARU does not have money, but we have billionaires who can help SARU with their problems
Ne didn't stop the deal, just halted it, the deal is still going through, so he saved nothing!
You need to follow the news and understand it
At least he did something before t
I think he even don't understand his own brain
Professional oversite is the biggest problem ofl most government projects, kudu' to Mr Big G .Why sell out our National assets to foreigner's.
Looters at work...
