9 years on and I wish I could see this! Tomboy Hathaway looks so cute. I recall seeing the version with Helen Hunt, Live from Lincoln Center, and still wish that was available too. But, at least there's the movie from 1996 with Imogen Stubbs. Great version.
as an obsessive Esparza bootleg collector i can say that i've not even seen a mention of a video boot but there are at least two full audios of the show out there online
I am so blessed I actually saw this live. I keep looking every few years to see if anyone has ever released a recording. I hope some day a copy will be found.
A lot of people have already commented that.. but i REALLY need to see the complete recording of the play😭😭 So if anyone knows where to watch it please tell me!
( moseying around on another Esparza binge) oh this looks interesti- WHERE’S AUDRA??!! WHERE’S AUDRA??!! (Sorry, Raúl, but then again I’m sure you know where I’m coming from.)
Toby is way too old and that Maria is ALL wrong. Jeez, Maria is practically a failsafe character and she blew it. And, um...Olivia was not black. Sorry PC Police but it's true.
Opinions on performances aside, if you are going to take issue with colourblind casting/alteration of context with Shakespeare then prepare to be disappointed because it happens in performances of the bard's works everywhere, including the globe and the royal Shakespeare company, and has been like that for decades. Also this is a play set in a fictional location with fictional characters so if you're going to be a traditionalist about casting then the all male production is out there on youtube, enjoy men playing women pretending to be men in love with other men. There are some great actors/performances in that one. Go watch some live theatre, don't let race or age get you down, it's theatre not film, realism is less important than truth through performance. Take a date or some friends to go see a comedic play, enjoy entertainment where the performers are actually effected by your presence, stay for a Q and A with cast and take the chance to ask them how they approached a role because that's the polite way to deal with disagreeing with casting choice and will actually get you answers about why it happened. Ask the people you took with you what they thought afterwards. Leave less comments on unaffiliated youtube uploads of shows that ran and closed a decade ago.
Haha and the female roles were originally played by men, are you gonna attack almost every present-day Shakespeare production for having actual women play female roles?

It’s Audra. Who gives a shit about convention, it’s AUDRA.
I’m just gonna assume you’ve never seen a play before, because that’s the only way you could never hear or color blind casting
wow.. it's almost like Shakespeare's work is ever changing.
Does anyone know where I can find a full version?
