    Mug up from the lake's region of New Hampshire, good morning, Joey. Dandelions are in bloom now, peaches blooming, apples soon. Haven't supered yet. Some folks just unwrapped their hives last week. I saw some capped drone brood last week, expect to see drones in the air soon. Thanks for posting, since we up north are so behind you southerners, it always good to see what's next by watching you folks. Take care, Brice

    Uncapping that honey makes me think of those steel slicers that potters use or you may have in your house to cut cheese. I have one of those cheese cutters. I forget what it's called to get the clay off of the wheel when the Item is finished but they would be long enough. Esp if you laid the frame down and could make an apparatus that is height adjustable for flat or fat combs. I get lots of useless ideas,lol

      No idea is useless. That's how we come up with new inventions. Thanks.

    Hey Joey, I wish we had more than one flow like ya’ll. Do you try to keep your privet honey separate from tallow, or do you just end up blending it? Always enjoy watching your videos. God’s continuous blessings to you my friend!

      Thank you so much. I did keep it separate my first few years but now I just blend it all together.

    Just a watcher-not a beekeeper but does the spinner also heat the honey to facilitate faster removal?

    • @josephrawls
      @josephrawls  Месяц назад

      Good question, No, all it does is spin the frames out. This is one of the reasons we like to keep the room warm, around 80 degrees with low humidity, until we actually start to extract. Thanks for watching.

  • @drast1cone42

    doesn't the top of the frame go to the center of the extractor?

    • @josephrawls
      @josephrawls  Месяц назад +1

      No, the cells of the comb are slightly angled upward. Therefore the top of the frames go to the outside.

    Nice start Joseph. Light looking honey for southern honey. How did it taste?

      I can't really describe it other that it is sweet and smooth. I like it better than our tallow. Thanks.

    How do you like the Hillco uncapping tank? I am approaching 20 hives so the uncapping tank may be my next purchase at NAHBE in January. Looking forward to using my new Hillco extractor.

    • @ICN2U
      @ICN2U Месяц назад +2

      I have one and really like it. The ability to uncap multiple frames and let them drip into the tank while your extractor is spinning previously uncapped frames is a game changer. Then you just load the next set in with minimal dripping on the floor. The only issue and minor one is that I wish they made the frame rest pin a little longer. It is just short enough to allow the ear on the top bar to catch on the metal bar as you spin it to do the other side. And my Hilco extractor is really smooth and quiet. You will really enjoy yours!

      @phillipduncan2497 Месяц назад +1

      I wonder if the pin can be unscrewed and a longer stainless steel screw put in its place?

    • @josephrawls
      @josephrawls  Месяц назад

      I really like it. This is my second year using it and it makes the job much easier for us. It allows us to keep uncapping while the extractor is still running. The day after this video was done I purchased the proper nuts and washers. I put a washer on top and bottom of the bar and double nutted the pin. I have uncapped a lot more frames and so far no issues.
