Hi Andy. Thankyou for a great review, and I share your passion for these amazing air rifles. This isn't a rant, just a polite point. Around eighteen months ago, I bought an R10. I love it, it's fantastic. Though now, I see BSA have made the R12, like the R10. I love the cocking barrel, the gorgeous safety catch and increased bottle size. If I had known, I would have waited. However, that said, I love what I have. With great respect, it can be a little difficult for the average man in the street to keep up, these days especially. The quote yet again by Mr J D J Braithwaite, writer in Countryman's Weekly comes to mind. Beware of the hunter with only one rifle! It's difficult only having one rifle, when there are so many gorgeous options. Some of us can be like ladies with shoes. When is enough, ever enough? Lol. Great review Andy, respect to all your readers.
I’ve been looking at buying R10 after reading and watching plenty of reviews, placed an order this morning for R12 in .22 and Fac pepper black laminate, BSA only have a couple of R10 available so made sense to go with the R12. From your reviews I won’t be disappointed 👍. Getting myself back into air rifle shooting again and can’t wait.
I own one of the original BSA CLX iin 177. Great rifle and I love it, I have fitted the David Wilson stock securing kit so that the minor defect in the manufacture of the CLX is sorted. As always Andy, a cracking review, keep them coming.
Great video Andy, I opted for the gamo venari .177 the cold hammer forged barrel is second to none in terms of accuracy. Ive noticed the market for bolt action rifles is limited.. most are side lever.. which is a shame. (Not a fan personally) if you’re on a budget.. still want BSA quality but don’t have £1500 to drop on a BSA & a decent scope… Go for a gamo rifle.
Why say Gamo? Because they are accurate rifles with a degree of quality for a more than reasonable price. Plus they are made by the same very well practiced BSA gunsmiths so that level of craftsmanship will naturally be present in the making of Gamo rifles. I’ve had mine for 3 years now… still shoots the fleas off a dogs back at 50M… it’s stood the test of time. So In my opinion & ownership experience, it’s a great rifle.
would not be surprised if some creative soul has fitted a carbon bottle on this beautiful air rifle.....love the pepper model and like someone said, it's almost too beautiful to use but it wouldn't stay on the shelf very long
Once my old hw100 falls apart, I would definitely look for one of those 👌 thank you for review Love it Glad that they managed to squeeze the price to "normal" category
Great video as always Andy. It was great to meet you on Wednesday, really nice to see you are the same character in person to what you see in your reviews. Well done keep the reviews coming.
Great review Andy! I bought the R12 CLX Pro .177 in walnut from Vector Air and love it. Like you say, fire various pellets and I did, resulting in the R12 favouring ones that were 4.52 skirt size. The Goldstars did well but finally it was the H&N Baracuda Match 10.65gn 4.52. It’s also great that BSA are making available the different combinations. Smart thinking. Can’t wait for you to review their “new” releases.
I Have a R10 th its great but 2 problems main one .I had a reaction to the plastic cheek rest my face would go red and become very sore . two My the removeable shroud ie all the removable shroud and silencer parts were stuck because of the factory gunk it had set ROCK HARD and I could not unscrew it!!! .I had to use a cooking blow touch too melt or liquify the gunk/grease from the factory .The gun is great too shoot.
Absolutely a phenomenal rifle! Even I love the looks of that one - even I am a fan of more tactical looking rifles. So damn gorgeous overall - and it performed like a dream. A massive Thank You to Andy and crew once again!
I love BSA, in fact my first air rifle was a .22 BSA Mercury in the late 70’s. But the R12 CLX is a no from me, mainly because I’m in love with my Air Arms Ultimate Sporter R 🥰
I have the older r10. And love it, despite it now and then jamming up, and being pellet fussy. Its beautiful to look at, with the right pellet , its a very small group. But im very very tempted. Just cant decide which one, side lever or bolt. Theyre both stunning
BSA quality, I know it sounds alot of money but doubt you would ever need to replace it. I have and still occasionally use a 68 year old airsporter mk1. Think I will start saving for one of these. Thanks for another great review Andy.
BSA stands for bargain superb arms! I wish they were a bit easier to find here in the USA... Maybe in an fac version as well. Thanks for the review Andy!
Nice video I have the Vulcan 3 in 177 what's crazy I can put different pellets in the magazine all together and still hit the bullseye without adjusting the scope all day it has to be the cz barrel the chez republic guys can build a gun it blew me away
The exact other rifle I need/want. Father Christmas might have to save up for a while though ☹️. Have to stay happy with my R10 TH Black Pepper for a while longer
It’s not really a gun that I would be interested in, I just haven’t an interest in PCPs but there’s no denying it’s a VERY pretty rifle. Well done again BSA.
Sorry Andy but it’s a no from me , same as the one tested but the side lever, bought it on Friday back to the shop on Monday for full refund, loved the gun and all you have said about it but the pellets kept falling out of the magazine and jamming the action, until it jammed completely
Great video as always Andy. Interesting as regards the power levels. I've just had to do some work on my Hw97 and chrono it afterwards. I had to de-tune it, using the same weight pellets as you used to around 11ft/lbs as using lighter pellets it went over the 12ft/lbs limit. So working with your figures this gun too would be over too. It would be interesting to see what it does with a lighter pellet. I look forward to seeing your videos, so thanks Andy and keep them coming.
That seems very odd as "normally" a heavy pellet will give a higher ft/lb and a lower FPS, a lighter pellet should give you a higher FPS but a lower ft/lb.
I'm seriously tempted now Andy. Great review. My concern is pre-order and Christmas deliveries, I'd have to find a supplier to deliver to my door themselves, can't trust ParcelForce with that level of juicy goodness.
Lovely gun, still really annoys me that I paid £1200 for mine and came in cardboard box, brother brought kral last week, less than half the price and came in free hard case
ive got the R10 SE in 22 cal. its all the rifle youll ever need, so the R12 keeps 12 rounds instead of 10 and the 12 may use a side pully instead of a bolt action which is totally subjective to preference. for these subtle differences i will not be rushing out to buy one in my book its still an R10 with afew slight changes thats all not worth me trading in the R10 se and adding alot of money just to say ive got one, Unless if your new to the bsa R series then great eat your heart out and get one but if you already got an R10 SE then dont bother unless you have money to burn like AAR,S Andy here.
I recently bought a daystate huntsman revere (excellent gun) BUT I wish I had saved my money and had the R12 .... oh God how do I convince the wife to let me buy a BSA R12 now... best start saving my pocket money 😁
I just wish BSA would ditch the 13mm rail! They build rifles which have a nice, long rail which is uninterrupted by an oversized magazine, so the owner gets to choose the scope height, then use an old rail size which makes finding suitable rings a pain. Even their own branded rails don't fit, I bought one of their one piece mounts recently which stated on the packaging that it would fit both 11 and 13mm rails depending on which way round the clamp was fitted, but it would only fit one way.
Great video Andy, as always! One general question though ... if the shorter barrel of 'carbine' PCP rifles like this has no measurable effect on accuracy then why do manufacturers still offer 'full size' versions as well? Does it perhaps make a difference at higher energy levels (i.e. on the FAC or export variants of the same rifle)? Maybe a subject for a future video?!
beautiful rifle would be nice at the bottom of the christmas tree . i set a scope for a friend of mine a gamo 1400 fps. pal version wasn't that accurate .a friend of mine and i set his rifle a 3030 at 50 yards.hit the bulls eye made him try it he was shooting 6 inches to the right. he doesn't squeeze the trigger he jerks it so i know he will do the same with the .177 gamo. I'm sure
I really really really want one of the new R12! and have done a bit of investigation before parting with a big lump of the hard earned stuff. I have joined an online owners group and have read owners comments back to the guns launch. Actual owners in use have complained of: pellets falling out of the magazine and jamming the mechanism; red loaded indicator not being definitive and being a guess; incorrect shrouds fitted to barrels, calibre confusion; bottles losing air pressure because they are not tightly fitted; pellet probe 'o' ring seal and wear issues less than 1000 rounds shot, possibly a known issue, spare 'o' rings included in the box, hmm. Last point, laminate stocks flaking surface after using a gun rest. Make of this lot what you will. In my humble opinion, Wonderful gun that's not had enough R&D time and rushed to market. Its an issue that will cause potential disappointment and repeated returns to the factory, one needs an RFD in town. Its expensive for a BSA, double the price of a pre covid R10. Is it twice as good? Mmm, depends on ones mindset. My much loved aged R10 is going to get a Huma regulator for Christmas because my heart ❤ loves it and my substantial bottom will stay sitting on my wallet, sometime until faith is restored. The old boy at the end of a career is better than the new kid. Cheers Andy and the team, amazing work you do for the sport, my Friday highlight.
Had my R12 in walnut for a few weeks now. One of the mags stopped working as the o ring broke (after about 20 shots) and the pellets dropped clean through the chamber, It also is fussy about ammo: I like slugs (for hunting) but those I have tried so far (11.8 gn Wildman) have a nasty habit of dropping into the action. Once there, they stop the rifle from working. My Wolverine loves slugs and functions well with them. Going to persevere but a little disappointed as this is not a cheap rifle.
Can you recommend a bipod for this rifle? I can’t seem to find one that doesn’t partially or fully cover the fill port and pressure gauge. Tried my Hawke sling stud bipod and it doesn’t allow the gun to be filled unless the bipod is removed.
It's so nice to see someone singing about something so British. Very refreshing. Thank you. Great viewing as always.
I’m 75, still using the Meteor my Dad bought me when I was 14. Probably time for an upgrade.
Good morning...getting chilly out there now.
You are right Andy, that black pepper stock is gorgeous😍
Can't argue with that. Great group, even with that budget scope.
I have to agree about that stock. That's a thing of beauty.
Hi Andy.
Thankyou for a great review, and I share your passion for these amazing air rifles.

…and I also have the Dave Wilson front stud replacement….essential if you have a bipod fitted.
@@nigelhirst9845 it certainly is, a cheap fix from David, a shame BSA didn't do it in the first place.
@@stevezephyr indeed. A major failing on BSA & Minelli's part. I would have gone for an R12 as well, except for this.
Untill the group opened up I counted. 6 shots in the same hole great grouping For 40mtrs and with a 3-9-40 scope. Very impressed 👍
Well, this is truely a very (very!!!) beautiful gun. Might very well be my next buy, if I find one on the continent, that is!
Lovely looking gun, that. 👏👏
I do exactly the same when pellet testing. Set the scope slightly off the bull so you have a clear aim point every shot.
Great video Andy, I opted for the gamo venari .177 the cold hammer forged barrel is second to none in terms of accuracy. It's crying out for a carbine bottle
Like the full magazine shoot and really like the BSAs, thanks for sharing this
Once my old hw100 falls apart, I would definitely look for one of those 👌 thank you for review
Love it
Glad that they managed to squeeze the price to "normal" category
A HW100 will NEVER fall apart 😆
Great video as always Andy. It was great to meet you on Wednesday, really nice to see you are the same character in person to what you see in your reviews. Well done keep the reviews coming.
I meet Abdy and Mrs AAR Julie 2 years ago couldn't have meet a more down to earth and welcoming couple.

The bolt bounce issue on the ultra CLX has been sorted then. This R12 CLX looks lovely
Great job Andy.
BSA or Trad Daystate......... Absolutely the best.
No need for electronics with guns this good!
Absolutely a phenomenal rifle!
Even I love the looks of that one - even I am a fan of more tactical looking rifles. So damn gorgeous overall - and it performed like a dream.

It looks 2 good to use ! Nice review Andy 👌

That insect sat on the target before you opened fire had a lucky escape! And Black Pepper sounds like a band!
Just bought a Walnut R12 CLX Bolt Action. I'll be putting a Veyron on it. Hopefully Andy's recommendations are up to the usual standard.
It’s not really a gun that I would be interested in, I just haven’t an interest in PCPs but there’s no denying it’s a VERY pretty rifle. Well done again BSA.
Another top review, but come on BSA £1100 and not even a bag.
Yep , I would want a hard case for that money or a slip case .... I would insist, before I left the gun shop ! Cheers
Thanks Andy, another to add to the want/need list following your Vulcan 3 review. And carbon bottle? You little minx, yes please!
Hello Andy, I am a big fan of the new R12, very impressed with it.
Brilliant show as usual Andy .Great options available and like you say will not break the bank .
Another great review Andy!

Great looking rifle. Just wish BSA could offer a variable power for FAC models.
It's no Crown, more of a retro-gun in the spirit of JBs original SuperTen. A nice beginners gun anyway.
Yep, Gorgeous!
Fantastic looking new gun.... I'm going to order one this week !!!!
😁
a bolt is more durable and axial play can be adjusted, with some work
Very nice !! tough to get BSA here in the USA 🇺🇸 it seems thanks a Andy
Great video as always Andy.

It's good to see stippling on the laminated stocks at last .
Such a tease...carbon fiber bottle! Nice job as always!
Fine shooting.
some fine shooting there Andy. well done.
very nice shooting i just bought a bsa clx pro laminate .177 fingers crossed its a winner
Fine vid Sir! Thanks
Thank you, Andy, for your review
The bolt action makes it for me, I have an R10se and love it. This super carbine version could tempt me to upgrade. Good video Andrew
Really nice English Gun... In my opinion as good if not better than the crout guns
Lovely gun, still really annoys me that I paid £1200 for mine and came in cardboard box, brother brought kral last week, less than half the price and came in free hard case
When I got my r12 was shocked it didn't come with a hard case like the r 10 thumbhole I bought
Full disclosure. What is BSA doing about the faulty magazines?
ive got the R10 SE in 22 cal. its all the rifle youll ever need, so the R12 keeps 12 rounds instead of 10 and the 12 may use a side pully instead of a bolt action which is totally subjective to preference. for these subtle differences i will not be rushing out to buy one in my book its still an R10 with afew slight changes thats all not worth me trading in the R10 se and adding alot of money just to say ive got one,

Nice bit of kit
👍👍👍😜🏴🦄🦕😁✌️🤞

Nice gun con from Ireland 🇮🇪
Beautiful gun, but I prefer the stainless bolts, yeah I know you can change them but..
Beautiful stock. A piece of furniture really.

That stock looks very similar to my RM8 in Beech
It does indeed though the RM8 is probably built better.
Fantastic review.
Thank you for sharing. 🙂👍

Nice video to wake up to
Which one is the best..? Daystate Wolverine or BSA R12clx..?
PRICE: £1215? Do you think this will sell in the cash strapped UK?
It's £1700 here due to customers when Brexit occured. An FX Airguns Crown is less money here.
Beautifull peace of equipment, not budget but good. Then again it's BSA, it's the high end stuff.
Hi Andy. Really enjoy your shows. Was wondering why you have never reviewed a bsa scorpion se?
What a beautiful riffle
Had my R12 in walnut for a few weeks now. One of the mags stopped working as the o ring broke (after about 20 shots) and the pellets dropped clean through the chamber, It also is fussy about ammo: I like slugs (for hunting) but those I have tried so far (11.8 gn Wildman) have a nasty habit of dropping into the action. They sure have some nice looking stocks!
What scope would you recommend for one of these? A good one.
Excellent 👍
I'm sure that the bolt handle is reversible, for anyone who might want it on the other side.
Loves a daystate dig
Can you recommend a bipod for this rifle?
I can’t seem to find one that doesn’t partially or fully cover the fill port and pressure gauge.
Tried my Hawke sling stud bipod and it doesn’t allow the gun to be filled unless the bipod is removed.
Morning all
What are these guns like for taking up to FAC
Andy! Have you tried it with the 16.2gr pellets? Mine is as accurate and likes them a lot better than any of the others… 👍
Great channeI Andy. I was wondering what the difference is between the R12 SLX an CLX.
Hi, I would like to know if I can use slugs with the bsa r12 clx as I am just getting into the air rifle??
Looks like a nice rifle.
Can we remove the bottle to exchange it for another one without completely emptying it?
Great stuff, would you personally go for the .22 or .177 version? Regards
i would be interested in your opinion of the immersive optic 14X50 scope. please
I am looking to buy an R12 super carbine. What is your opinion on the R12 takedown?
I want one 😋
Please do one on the bRk ghost in 22,thanks in advance sir
Athlon Argos BTR GEN2 8-34x56 FFP APLR2 MOA IR Rifle Scope review
Nice gun and nis shoot
