All he had to do is record it with his phone and play the video via the projector and flip the projector upside down for an inverted image. All that is needed is a projector. If you try it through his method , all you will see is a bright light entering the room , no image (not even blur)

For those wondering why its upside down(youre probably younger than 12)
Convex lenses and concave mirrors have the ability to produce real images (images produced when light is actually reflected from the object, theyre upside down) and dont mainly produce virtual images (images produced when light only appears to reflect, right side up) from this distance.
And our brain makes the image we see from outside light back into normal perspective, right?
