The reopened Damen station...closed in the 1940s. The gaps on Lake St were crazy at one point. However, since the public housing high rises have mostly been torn down, look at the newer stations built; Cermak/Green, Damen/Green, 35th Metra. Waiting on a stop at Western/Green. Surely a stop at the longest street in Chicago would be next, right?
looks great!! Can you imagine a Green Line where every station was that squeaky clean? well, we had one in the mid-nineties after they shut down the green line for two years and rebuilt the entire line. How long did it stay that nice? without the proper budget for maintenance, paint, sanitation, etc it started degrading faster than it needed to. I do hope they plan to budget constant inspection, cleaning and maintenance of this new station!!
As someone who's experienced both cities you should visit Chicago and see what it's like. CTA and MTA are very similar except our trains are lighter weight and faster.
@@ChicagolandTransit okay but cta does have more of derailment reputation… and it doesn’t look too good tbh, don’t get me wrong the mta at the start of 2024 had 2 derailments and one wasn’t that bad but the other one was worse… but my point is New York City transits derailments aren’t that bad… unlike the CTA..

makes alot of sense considering the huge station gap between California and Ashland

DAMEN OPENED? YESS I WANNA GO TO CHICAGO JUST TO SEE THIS
I was in Chicago that day but sadly didn’t check out the station.
Great video! Station looks great!
Why can't the green line trains be 8 cars long like they were way back in the day!!
Man, I wonder what the announcements sound like
Like Same As They Should Start Openning The CTA Orange Line California Station👍🏻👏🏻🟠🚞🚉!!!
Is there a slow zone ? Why are the trains moving so slowly ?
Cuz it like just finished construction so I guess they’re technically still testing out the speed limits
@@norifromreallife-di7hi ummm no I doubt that. The speed limit on the main doesn't change because a station was built but nice try
It was a slow zone during construction but they haven't restored the original cab signal speed.

what 💀
What does this have to do with the new Damen and Lake station?
If crt has taught us anything.. its that race is the most important component of the story..
@@ChicagolandTransit I dont know why that group is so angry & miserable... Its not like they have property taxes or maintenance... Section 8 AF
