I thought German was so difficult in High School. Now, after living in Japan and battling with the Japanese language for more years than I care to remember, German seems so easy. What was I thinking of back then.
That could be a method, if you think something is difficult to learn, find something harder and work from this perspective ☺
A US government agency classified the difficulty for a native English speaker to learn foreign languages. Each language was given a 1 through 4.
1 being the easiest and 4 the hardest.
German was given a 2
Japanese was given a 4
The strange thing about German being given a 2 was that other Germanic languages were given a 1 but because of difficulties in Grammar, The German Language was given a 2.
Maybe because japanese is very difficult

This was fantastic! What a great concept. Fun and educational!
This video gives me the creeps. It reminds me of my first day in school when i was four and my last day in school when i was 70. I did the same exact thing in both situations, i escaped without notifying the teacher.
When i was four i snuck out the door when the teacher wasn’t looking and walked home. My mother screamed when i came into the house .
When i was seventy, i went to a german class in Schramberg and left during the break without telling the teacher. Those were my best days in school .

love all your videos! this episode has a strange phrase I can't grasp. could you explain "Das will ich dir aber glauben" I just can't see how that would translate as "you expect me to believe that."
"Wollen" used to indicate the future about 300 years ago. So it really says "I will believe that". And that is meant ironic. "I will believe that, because it's absolutely plausible - NO IT'S FRICKIN NOT!
More common to say is however: "Das glaube ich gern!" or "Das soll ich glauben!", which may be a bit more intuitiv.
if it helps, i'm a native german speaker and it doesn't make sense to me either
Thomas it's technically correct, but not really used in daily language. Forgiveable mistake for a non-native, I'd say.

3:03 - Warum sehen wir "Zeig mir, wo liegt Deutschland"? NAch dem Komma soll doch das Verb - liegt - am Ende des Satzes sein.
Der Satz besteht aus zwei Hauptsätzen. Ich zeige dir mal die einzelnen Satzglieder:
Zeig - Verb, Imperativ
mir - Dativobjekt
wo liegt Deutschland - Akkusativobjekt
Das Akkusativobjekt ist ein ganzer Satz genauer gesagt eine Frage.
Mit besserer Zeichensetzung: _Zeig mir! Wo liegt Deutschland?_
Natürlich geht auch: _Zeig mir, wo Deutschland liegt!_
Lieber Tob ias, ich weiss, wie die deutsche Sätze gebildet sind. Aber hier haben wir mit einem indirektem Fragesatz zu tun. Deswegen sehe ich in dem Untertitel einen kleinen Fehler. Oder "Zeig mir! Wo liegt Deutschland" oder "Zeig mir, wo Deutschland liegt! Aber nicht : "Zeig mir, wo liegt Deutschland"
***** Es ist kein Fehler. Ich habe dir die grammatische Struktur des ganzen Satzes gezeigt. Wenn dich das nicht überzeugt, dann ist das dein Problem, macht den Satz aber noch lange nicht ungrammatisch.
