This might be the best RUclips video I have ever seen EVER. I am laughing so hard that I am crying tears. God bless Lucille and whomever posted this video. Everyone I know is getting this for Christmas.
I know that a lot of folks think simply of Lucille and this song as a joke. While a lot of its value is certainly in the totally unexpected musical and lyrical elements which do make it unintentionally comedic to unexpected proportions, I have to honestly say for the record: I admire her intensity, uniqueness, and zeal. And though the song is not conventional in structure, she's not off key (contrary to some comments), and she's got a lot of feeling in her voice. From the little I've seen online of her in recent years, I gather this moment in time isn't something she necessarily relishes; but I hope she owns it proudly and knows that she's added a lot of color, vibrancy, and demonstration of the power of individuality to many music lovers' lives!
@@skyDN1974 She passed in the summer of '22 at only 69 years-old. Wild because I thought she was in her 40s when these taped. Rest in paradise, Louise. ✨

The article said it will depict her life's struggle to reach stardom while remaining true to herself in New Yorks cutt-throat music industry. It's due for release in 2025!! The title is Hairdresser: The Lucille Cataldo Story.
I had to listen to this because I thought there might be some innuendo, allegory, metaphor for something. Nope. It’s pretty straight forward. It’s a song about asking for a haircut and then going on an incoherent rant about the hairdresser. I love it!!!

Watching somebody dressed in black plastic singing along to a 45 rpm recording of Hairdresser. Brilliant lyrics. Commanding performance. Just what I need today. 😅
Yes but it isn't the exact recording of the one playing in the background here. Sounds like a demo or something. There are prominent male backing vocals you can't hear in the one on Amazon/Spotify...the background track here sounds much more raw. Especially during the Tease A Louise parts and for the last minute and a half of the song... I wish I could hear it better. Sounds more folksy with the male vocals in there.
I also think it could be a bad performance because she gave them the wrong tape OR they're playing the the wrong take. If you listen with earbuds, this makes sense. She sings it more like the one on Amazon/Spotify.
I'm very late but only just found out that Lucille had passed away a couple of years ago. Her version of Arthur's Theme wasn't half bad, and 69 is no age nowadays. RIP Lucille.
