- Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts, or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs.
This time out we take a swing with Tobey Maguire to find out just WTF happened to the elusive actor who dazzled us as the first live-action feature film Spider-Man (and did it two more times after that), as well as the gimmicky B&W/color film Pleasantville, the horse-racing biopic Seabiscuit, an adaptation of John Irving's The Cider House Rules, TWO Ang Lee dramas, including Ride With The Devil and The Ice Storm and lastly in Baz Luhrmann's adaptation of The Great Gatsby in 2013 and as Bobby Fischer in Pawn Sacrifice in 2014. Since then, the actor has virtually disappeared from the big screen, leaving us all to wonder what he's gotten up to and why he hasn't popped back up in, well, anything at all. Have we seen the last of Tobey Maguire or is he preparing a big comeback? Join us as we find out WTF Happened to Tobey Maguire!

There's literally no need for a 20+ minute on Tobey and his where about's. He's a loving father to his kids and he's just chilling and trying to live his life. Sometimes people just don't wanna be in the spotlight their whole lives and that's okay.
He was a big asshole irl. I understand separating the art from the artist but he was a class A dick with how he would screw people over. Micheal Serra played what he was like in the movie Molly's game. Look up what he did to Molly Bloom and others in his life. I like his work but in his life he has been a shithead. To a lot of ppl.

The video doesn't mention that Toby Maguire has claimed that he was blacklisted by Sony because he turned down Spiderman 4. Sony are giants in the industry and I can believe that this also adversely affected his acting career. Christopher Eccleston recently claimed the BBC did a similar thing to him when he quit Dr Who.

At this point,Toby can pretty much live off of the Spider-Man franchise for Spider-Man is pretty much the Mickey Mouse of Superheroes. Spidey will always be a household name to kid’s across the globe. Not to mention all the merchandise that comes along with Spider-Man such as video games,board games,toy’s,costumes,miniature’s,action figures,memorabilia,etc. ironic I’m saying this being that Spider-Man and all Marvel characters belongs to Disney now.

The Great Gatsby left me thinking Amoung other things: Man Leo has changed over the years, when he plays a apparently unseen mystery man that when he does first appear on screen you can't decide if you thought he would be younger or older.
I genuinely didn't know about the Scarlett Johansson, transgender thing. So if she as an actress can't play that role, then surely it follows a gay or transgender person can't play a straight person. I mean I'm fine with that if that but it isn't, otherwise the great Sir Ian Mckellen would have half his films taken off air. I'm all for equality, very much so, but that particular situation was not equal.
That's just how stupid people are these days, an actor plays someone who isn't themselves. What am I missing?

First, trans and gay are different issue. Second, name a trans actor that has been cast in a cis role? Studios aren’t willing to cast trans actors in cis roles so why should the few trans roles go to cis actors?
You’re right. And the same situation happened to Halle Berry. Scarlett and her role could’ve helped the trans community have a better representation but dumb SJW just want to ruin it for everyone. Unpopular opinion: Spider-Man 3 was a pretty cool movie filled with memorable scenes and nostalgia.
Spider-Man 3 is my favorite of the trilogy. Spider-Man 2 is the best of the trilogy, obviously, but Spider-Man 3 is the one I’d most want to sit down and watch. And that’s saying something, because Spider-Man 2 has the “Pizza Time” line in it.

Today I learned that I have never heard of 60% of Tobey Maguire's filmography. And he valiantly carried on the grand Hollywood tradition of playing teenage characters when approaching 30, but he actually pulled it off. For way too long, actually. A rare find indeed. It was mildly unnerving.
I think Tobey thought that was mildly unnerving; considering the roles he accepted in between and after Spider-man.

For those of you who don't know, Tobey Maguire is related to Ronald Meyer (Chief of Universal pictures) because he is married to his daughter, now if Tobey really wanted the spotlight and star in big budget movie's again he could have easily gotten help from ron Meyer but he preferred to stay out of the spotlight to start his own path as a producer/filmmaker on lower budget passion projects and spend time with his family something which high profile actors can't do as much as they want to so be happy for him.
On top of that he still keeps a close relationship with his childhood friend leaonardo DiCaprio and has been seen hanging out with him on multiple occasions, but what would really be cool to see is them two starring in a Quentin Tarantino action movie 👍

You have to really give it to Tobey for having such as unique scream and yelling sound, no one can pull that off except Tobey, it doesn't sound like a man or a Teen or a woman or a baby or anything, it sounds like Tobey. Its so satisfying to hear his scream as it still doesn't register as annoying, at least to me, its one of those screams that genuinely sound amazing

@@jakepayne2985 It's a train wreck for sure but it was also horribly flawed. In my opinion, it's a good movie but it ended up having a horrible reputation for putting Venom in the movie. Sam Raimi originally didn't want him to be in the movie because he focused more on the Sandman and Hobgoblin but Sony forced him to do it anyways... under the favor of Avi Arad. At the end, the trilogy ended with a bittersweet note.
@bigevilworldwide1 Actually, that's not Raimi's fault. The movie failed because Sony tried to force him to put Venom in the movie to sell merchandise so as it turns out, executives shot themselves on the foot for making that mistake in the first place.
Also, what has anything to do with the fans? They never asked for it so this is not a fanservice.
Hate it or not, Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy is one of the most iconic film ever in history and beloved by many viewers who grew up with. The compelling storytelling based on the comics, fun characters, heartwarming moments, stunning fight scenes, and overall a great lesson about responsibility.
I guess it's your opinion, but your taste is lackluster.

I would love to see Tobes put on the red and blue suit again and do an "Into the Spiderverse" style movie with the other two Friendly Neighborhoods. That would be awesome.
Actually that would suck, because putting tobey’s spider man as a spider verse peter parker would have such a downgrade look on tobey’s spider man. Both peter parkers in spider verse would not fit his role in a future appearance because one of the two dies in the beginning, and the other one has given up on life.
