Barry, there are a couple of dry Barbeque seasonings readily available out there in most grocery stores. (McCormicks comes to mind.) I'm wondering what it'd be like if you added that instead of or along with the cinnamon.
Half expected a plus-up here. ;) Heck, I'd try this recipe - I have a container of homemade barbecue sauce in the fridge that has been there for an embarrassingly long amount of time, so why not?
You might be able to dehydrate the bbq sauce by spreading it out on some foil and baking it at around 170 degrees for two or three hours. If the sauce has oil in it, this might not work. Alternatively, basting the cookies with sauce towards the end of the bake could be interesting too, just be careful and don’t burn your cookies because BBQ sauce has a lot of sugar in it.
LOL I mentioned this in a comment on Sandwiches of History quite a while ago. This reminds me of one day when I was bored and hungry for a snack during the summer when I was maybe 12 or 13 and I decided to make pancakes with BBQ sauce added to the batter.

Good one! Reminds me of the tomato soup cookie recipe.
