    As a former member of 14 Truck during the “War Years” in Harlem, I met many colorful characters. This guy Norton is a standout. The show got even better when ”Proby” Pete announced that 10,000 subscribers are now signed up. Keep on Truckin' guys. The sky is the limit!

      @@toddswansby7271 I will definitely work on it. I'm hoping this virus stuff subsides here real soon. I know it's really early but I would start planning on going to NY for the 20th Anniversary. We could get several of us together days before the actually ceremony in case people don't want to attend. I go every year with the exception of this year for obvious reasons but if we could start planning for that we could get quite a large group together. That's would be the big event if you will not only to meet but pay our respects.
      I was also thinking of January/February down here in Florida (where it's warm) for a gathering ! Maybe Orlando, Tampa, Naples, and or even by me in Fort Lauderdale. I'd have to see how many people would be interested in doing a little traveling to get the most of us together. So we'll see. I'd really like to get the Salty guys to join us but they may not want to hang with us in person !! LOL... so we'll see. It might be a few gatherings !! I would also recommend to the group that maybe someone would like to head up a gathering from people that are locals in their area ! Stay Salty my friends.

    I remember in the early 80's that lime green fire trucks were all the rage. My dept. had several of them. God they were uglier that a bucket full of assholes. The public did not recognized them as frickin fire trucks. They all thought they were garbage trucks with red lights.

    Not a big fan of guys blowing off great companies and the senior men that welcomed them there. To, "chase fire" in another company down the road. Not cool. Nothing like telling 112 and 113 they aren't good enough anymore. 111 catches a few more jobs .see ya! The guy last week worked in like 10 places.

      Craig Weber understand totally. But I will say this and I have told guys this many years as it was told to me as well. You always have to do what’s best for you and your family. And that’s that. I’m not saying it can’t get sticky with leaving and I did ask him about that. Guys will take it personally when you leave, But in the end you have to do what is best for you. My 2 cents. Lou

      They couldn't have minded that much because Tommy was loved by all. I was a guy who stayed in a house almost my entire career. From being the junior man to becoming the Senior man. I always understood when guys move to another company for whatever reason. Like we said 20 years goes by in a blonk of an eye. You only have one career. Live it on your terms. Work where YOU want to work. Whats most important is how you were when you were there. What Mark you left on that company. You could have a bag of shit in your firehouse. Just because he stays for 20 years in one place doesn't mean anything. At the end of 20 years hes still a bag of shit!

    • @danpotter4157
      @danpotter4157 4 года назад +13

      Guys come and go in every firehouse, there are all sorts of reasons, one thing that never changes is change. Very typical for a firehouse to turnover half the roster. Some chase fires, some because they relocate to another part of the state, some for other experience. There are over five hundred different companies in FDNY and every boro is different with unique challenges. The fact of the matter is, no one really cares...except if you're a 'hairbag'.

      I was appt. to Eng 85 until Homer Bishop closed it then to Eng 92 until I moved to eastern long island I then Transferred to Eng 301 and later Ladder 150, when the opportunity came to become a charter member of Squad 252 I jumped on it and was a fireman there until 9-11, I was promoted the Friday after and was UFO in SOC until I went back to Squad 252 as a lieutenant where I was until 2005 when an opening came up in Rescue 4 where I finished out my career in 2013. Some guys stay in the same company their whole career and I might of stayed in Eng 85 but I was forced to move and once you make the first move its no big deal. Ive stayed friends with guys from all those companies, most places are made up of the same guys with different faces. Tommy was a great fireman and I had a hell of a time working with him, never heard anyone say an ill word of him
