Environment definitely makes a HUGE difference. I'm Senegalese American. Back in 2012, I went home to Senegal for vacation. My hair was thriving so much back home. As soon as I washed my hair, it's like the water made my hair feel better. It just felt stronger and smoother. Then there was the hair products. I borrowed my aunt's hair care products. I don't know what it is, but the hair products back home just works better. They made my hair so soft that the braiders were struggling to grip my hair. My hair felt like the hair of a newborn baby. So soft and delicate, but yet strong and thicker. And it's sad because I was the only natural person in my family. Everyone else relaxed their hair and they often don't do it right. When they would retouch their relaxer, they also relaxed their already relaxed hair so their hair was constantly dry and brittle, yet they still had hair. Imagine if they stopped relaxing and embraced their natural hair. I'm sure their hair would feel like my hair. I'm confident that they would have hair down their butts. Environment plays a really huge role. I think the U.S is horrible for the health and beauty of black women. The day we move out of this land, we will thrive.
Humidity massively affects our hair! Glad you could notice this and not blame your hair. There are ways to recreate the feel of high humidity through moisturising.
@@NaturallyHighCan you do a more in depth video on what you've just said? Some of us travel to different countries/destinations via our jobs. Also some in depth solutions? This would be extremely helpful!
Yess I used to work next to a dirt road and I was so puzzled why my hair was itchy all the time. Jesus had to give me a whole dream to show me that it was because of all the dirt in the air within that area…. Now my hair is doing better since we’ve moved away
I recently found out that the thalassemia trait caused my low iron and microcytic anemia. Like your client, I am a "good natural" whose 4C curls cannot catch a break 😅. Thank you for recognizing such a rare genetic disorder. This video came into my life at a very sensitive time. I am American and Southern (where the people are still color-struck and perpetrate texturism). Despite my setbacks, I have proudly nurtured my hair to show that MY 4C hair is valid. Having such a unique experience with my hair and health is still a bit frustrating.
Kudos to you for not giving up on your self-acceptance journey! You never know who you're inspiring when you do this. Sending you lots of love and encouragement to keep going. You and your hair are enough as they are.
Thank you❤! Please continue to share info on fine type 4c hair, specifically on more ways to help combat premature breakage, it is really an issue for me despite years of “babying” my hair.
Potentially, yes! Fine strands respond well to protein treatments, and they're also film-forming humectants, meaning they attract and hold on to water from the atmosphere.
Great video as always. Please can you cover natural solutions for Alopecia Areata and CCCA? I have symptoms of both but my GP won't do anything about it and says it's something I have to live with. ❤
@@gwyneveresunlightblade5962definitely worth the investment as CCCA causes permanent hair loss as there are treatments available. AA is more capricious but there are things you can do as well. Hope you’ll get a referral soon. I see people in clinic and right now (ridiculously) our rates are only £150 for a consultation at Dr Eve Skin.
@@NaturallyHigh I have been struggling to find a good cleanser for my fine natural hair. You have inspired me to finally try kaolin clay. I'm waiting for it to come in the mail...I hope it'll make my hair as healthy and beautiful like yours. Good to know you still use it. Thank you for sharing the information you've learned with all of us.
@@FruitIsLove2it may help you! Having an appropriate pre- and cleansing routine can also work wonders. Sometimes you don’t even need to change your cleanser. Good luck!
If your 4c hair is brittle you need more sebum or replacement sebum. My replacement sebum is tallow mixed with coconut oil (80/20). For moisture you need 2 things sebum and water.
Can you please do a video on the importance of sebum to the hairstrands?. I feel like our very own sebum is actually underestimated when it comes to coily kinky hair in terms of moisture retention.
@@NaturallyHigh oh that's okay, and yes, I am willing to share. well for majority of us we think that our sebum does not have the ability to travel down our strands as a result of the kinks and coils our hair is usually known for, which is true. However, it does not mean it is not possible for sebum to travel down, we have to help it since it has more of a waxy texture compared to regular oils. From what I know, sebum is great at not only strenghtening the hair, but it is amazing at helping the hair to remain moisturised, and this is my personal opinion, but I think majority of the problems we ran into when it comes to our hair in terms of excessive dryness and breakage is because our hair does not get access to sebum. Instead, we find alternative ways to keep our hair moisturised which is just temporary and requires the application of more products. I think sebum can do wonders for our hair, but we just don't see it🙏.
This was great and l loved that you gave us some ‘behind the scenes’ of the process you use to help your clients. It means a lot that you research things like the hair strand mineral testing to ensure it’s actually validated as being useful. And if it’s not then you’re able to guide your clients to the right approach.

When it comes to clay, I worry that if I use it on my locs, it will cause unsightly build up, no matter how much rinsing I do

That is if sebum is at the root of the issue. In my client's case, the root cause was thalassemia trait.
Fuck that do a length Check I predict “21”-“25” and “27” as the longest. I can eye it I’m good at that now. ❤ thank YA!
