    What do you think are the key takeaways from Craig and Joz?

      I'm glad that Apple's catching up finally with the Pixel & Samsung crowds with their new calling features.
      I just hope more people find this interview!

      Great initiative to do this interview. My takeaways for the channel are :
      - I am all into the Apple Eco system, and this WWDC has left me the most frustrated ive ever been with Apple. I hoped the interview would be objective as opposed to what sounded like Apple Fans praising every thing that came from the two executives mouths. Unfortunately, the questions did not seem to ensure that Apple takes accountability for their false representations. Profiting from its misleading of its clientele for over a year with Apple Intelligence and related siri. When asked why they havent delivered on Siri the way they said they would, they have entered into an elaborate explanation of the " goal" of Apple Intelligence as a pervasive instrument of applying AI into their model, and implicitly blaming users for " missunderstanding" their approach and leaving us clinging onto hope that one day, at their mercy we will suddenly then recieve the new siri at some vague date in 2026 (practically could be in December of 2026).
      - For "liquid glass" it seems like a fad, a design should be able to speak for itself and and impress the user without a litany of adjectives being used to explain how impressive the creators think their creation is. At this point (hopefully the final version is impressive) there are visually minor improvements on the UI to even report this as a significant leap in the UI, the average user would sneer at the updates. The fact that this UI works for Vision pro(which has remarkably low sales numbers) is not a reason that other users of other devices should be forced to use the UI. In my case, the UI is consistently triggering a vertigo type reaction in my mind.

      @canyonblue737 8 months ago

      @steftrandofor the first time in ten years the Apple execs decided not to do his event. They didn’t provide a reason. Speculation is that they didn’t want to answer tough questions in front of a raucous audience to at worst that they are punishing John for a very strong negative piece he did about what he felt was outright deception on the part of Apple with what they showed of Apple Intelligence at WWDC 2024.

    30:53 that felt like Joz being like “Craig tell them that it’s different so we can justify selling them two devices. DO IT CRAIG”
    Joz is a weird vibe. He (alongside Tim Cook) feels like the most corporate person trying to fit into this ‘cool’ company. Joz often accompanies apple leadership in these interviews, and his purpose seems to be to control the narrative and yank the leash of whoever he is there with

      He didn’t say the wrong answer? They are both very different products. iPads have always been a portable entertainment device. You have the pencil for artists or engineers, and it’s great. Macs are a portable computer device. Most people have both. I have a windows laptop for working and iPad Pro for entertainment and on the go versatile work device. iPads were never made to be a computer replacement, it’s something people created.

      @RichieKhanthe ipad wasn't even a good secodary device for me until it got logic. Now I already have an nvidia laptop for ai, 3d, code and tinkering I'll get an ipad for creative stuff like music and editing photos. Apple is only superior at creative stuff but the ipad only recently got the creative apples people actually use eg. Logic, final cut, real photoshop like last yr but the windowing and files system was still trash, so i could use a proper workflow. So getting it was pointless. But now a whole new set of ppl will be getting ipads.

      You kind of *don't* want Federighi as CEO. You want "Hair Force One" to be the "Face," someone that Apple has been missing since Jobs passed.
      Federighi and Cue (from what I understand) would be great for guiding the Vision. You need someone else to handle logistics and the investors.
      Apple doesn't need *a* Steve Jobs replacement. All. they need are two to three executives in a trench coat. Joz, Cue and Federighi could easily be that.

      I hope there's a lawsuit and they get sued out the ass. They had false advertisement and they KNEW it. They just wanted to kiss their investors ass to keep them as tight as they can. They knew it was never ready. They had people upgrading/buying the new 16s for AI. They deliberately deleted advertisements that involved AI Siri. This is not okay and they should and hopefully get the biggest lawsuit to date.

      @aomar1227this wasn't a mistake lol they knew it was going to happen. And they purposely pushed the 16 pro because of it. There was no new upgrade for the 16 to get ppl wanting to buy it. The camera button wouldn't have been enough. I'm telling u rn there's going to be a lawsuit in the future for it

    Brilliant interview. You basically see the opposite ends of what corporate Apple is like. A geeky, passionate guy with charisma and loves the work that he does and the colder, more foot-on-table corporate guy that will grab your opinion and go "yeah well, we still make money, so it doesn't matter."
    I'm actually shocked that Joz has been in Apple since 1986. My guess is that he had to develop extremely thick skin to survive 30 years of rise, fall, and rise again of apple with Sculley, Steve, and Tim. On one end, I don't blame him for being this way, but on the other they could've just picked another guy to be next to Craig.

    Describing the iPad and Mac as "very different from each other" doesn't hold water, especially after years of homogenizing the apps across the operating systems and adding Mac functionality to iPad. The desire to do more with our iPads has been present for 10+ years but Apple's biggest concession to this fact was only revealed yesterday!

      Siri started out great, but now it's just embarrassing, like when I ask Siri a question about where to find a certain feature in macOS or how to do something, and Siri has absolutely no idea. Then I ask ChatGPT, and not only does it give me perfect instructions, but it laughed with me and said, “Don’t worry, I got you!” Can they fix it? yes, will they? hopefully.

    • @EYE_OF_THUNDERA
      @EYE_OF_THUNDERA 8 months ago +1

      @TheFeedRocket I dont think they will. I jist want apple to create their own chatGPT. I mean there are free online chat A.I's out here who can habe a conversation with you as if they are humans, SIRI SHOULD BE LIKE THAT. And then integrate it with being able to do tasks on your phone withouth habing to press buttons in a menu, thats what I WANT. My samsing S24 ultra is so far beyond Apple when it comes to A.I. its not even close. Gemini + Bixby slapped together quickly and it simply works.

      @inakira-ytc 8 months ago +1

      Strange because i have 143 accessories in my home and rarely have any issues controlling them via Siri (or the Home app). And my set up is not straightforward as most of the accessories/devices use KNX which are then exposed to Home via a bridge. Can Apple make it better? Definitely. Think of unstructured commands, more flexible automations, better location awareness, …. But as it stands today it works fine for me

    • @AlexPasek
      @AlexPasek 8 months ago +1

      @inakira-ytc @inakira-ytc, you’re not special :) I have everything from sprinklers to heated floors and even vacuum and hot tub control, yet connection isn’t a problem. The UX is.
      For example, HomePod will understand a 2nd repeated command in the morning because of an issue with the trigger-word awareness algorithm. Everything after the 2nd query, repeated exactly the same way is OK.
      However, the biggest issue is the lack of audio results and the inability by Siri to understand commands. Not to mention, the proximity queue is also buggy, so you can’t prioritize your phone over HomePod even if you’re sitting next to it.
      This device needs to be rebuilt from scratch instead of being patched together like a Frankenstein.

Or better yet - why not acquire Aleph Alpha from Germany? It’s a homegrown LLM with strong capabilities and serious data protection - something that aligns perfectly with Apple’s privacy brand. Wouldn’t a European AI with privacy-first architecture be a more strategic fit than trying to partner up with OpenAI or Google?
