Thanks for this advice, I am doing the research to move to Canada and you mentioned a point haven’t seen in other videos: try to visit the city and be guided by a Calgarian before deciding… I definitely think is the best advice
Thank you so much for watching! If you can afford a trip to Calgary before hand, or really any city you plan on relocating to, it is such a valuable experience. If you need help with the process let me know, I'd be happy to help!
Thank you for watching! Shoot me a text or email and we can connect. It would be great to hear more details about what you're looking for and I can help from there!
If you're the party type I would recommend living downtown. Beltline would be a great destination, there's a ton of nightlife on 17th Ave close by. ! Thank you for watching
Hello I’m teacher physical education and fitness Instructor But I found contract as supervisor in restaurant My questions is that if I will move to Alberta it’s enough that they will pay me 16 dollars per hour ?? And my next question That if I finish my contract I can work as a teacher physical education or I should study there again ??
Thank you for watching! $16/hour would be tough to live off of just because the cost of living all across the country is so high. As for being a teacher, it depends on where you’re moving here from and what credentials you have. Alberta TWINS which is where you submit all of your credentials as a teacher and they can then advise you on what more you will need. Alberta.ca has a whole section discussing the credentials you would need. Feel free to give me a call and we can get into more details! 403-690-1180
That's a fair point. Overall I say Calgary is a driver city because if you want to take advantage of the mountains nearby a car is great to have. And overall our transit system is a little lacking, BUT you are right, you can get by without one
Honestly, I can't speak to how jobs are BUT we have some good connections in Calgary that we could get you in touch with. Send me a message ryan@evergroup.ca
Jobs in calgary are only viable if you know some hiring managers directly. I speak from experience. I get enquiries in ottawa or Toronto from linkedin but never get any enquries from calgary
THANK YOU. YES. You are spot on. I feel like people actually do not realize that winter is REAL in Alberta spanning from Nov 1st to May 1st. As for fall, you would need to be INCREDIBLY lucky to get 2 months. Spring is usually 15 days. On the other hand, he is right though, sunlight is real and coming from gloomy Toronto in the winter, it makes a big difference. IMO, Ontario has a lot more to offer if we compare apples to apples (and I am not the biggest TO fan) but cost of living is absolutely insane making it unlivable for most people. However, since many people often wonder if they should pick between ON or AB, I thought I would mention it. Calgary is great to raise a family. It's safe, clean and the education system is solid imo. If you are looking for a very busy life with entertainment, welp, it's not Calgary. I wish it will be entertaining one day though. We are getting a lot of amazing restaurants now but anything museum-wise is very poor unfortunately. The "busy" neighbourhoods are a bit sad as well. It's always very small. For example Marda Loop (a trendy area) reminds me of a very small Royal York village (Green line) in Toronto. And I have been here for almost 10 years. Just FYI, I was born in a very big city in EU and then moved to TO so I obviously will have a different view on what "big cities" should sound like 😊
@@Puda how is ontario winer compared to Alberta ? From what i hear Alberta is a disaster and i don't want to live in such environnement most ofbthe year
@@Bambotb it’s very cold in Ontario (due to humidity vs dry in Alberta) but it starts around December and ends mid April or so. Summers are very hot in Ontario (40C+ on some days and usually in the 30s for most days) I lived in both provinces. Imo ON is much better but it’s so expensive that it makes no sense to live there unless you make a LOT of money.
Medicine Hat, AB is actually the sunniest city in Canada. Calgary is the sunniest “major” city but not the sunniest period. Just feel that distinction should be made.
Couldn’t pay me to live in Calgary. I will live rural forever no matter what. That being said, Calgary is okayish for a big city, i lived there before, never again. If i want to live in a city, Medicine Hat is where I’d go in Alberta
Correct because all those stupid and deceiving videos promising you the moon are just illusions and once immigrants realized that they have been scammed all the way, they just leave the country, totally disappointed, They have wasted so much time, energy and money for nothing and the quality of life is so bad compared to Europe for instance, that they are so happy to have a country to return to. 'The grass is not always greener elsewhere'. But just very sad that people keep on promoting Canada when in fact there is nothing for new comers and now the xenophobic government with its ban on foreign buyers..... Just such a bad place. I just hope real estate crashes everywhere is Canada.
You mentioned that Calgary is looking for skilled workers. As in trades right? I'm looking to start my plumbing apprenticeship and hoping I make enough money to move to Calgary from Toronto cuz over here it is a nightmare with how expensive it is. One problem I see though is that there is a high unemployment rate in Alberta. I am assuming it's people moving there without securing a job before hand, or there are not enough jobs for the people moving. I hope I can secure a plumbing apprenticeship job there while working here in the mean time.
Trades for sure. I know that many home builders are desperately in need of more consistent trades. One of the builders I work with is way backed up because their trades can't consistently get guys in. It is odd to see Calgary's unemployment rate sit as the highest, and honestly I can't speak to why that is... I could chat with some plumbers I know to see if any of them are looking for some help. Shoot me an email and I'll see if I can connect you with anyone. Thank you for watching!!
I’ve in Calgary for 35 years…..not that many people I know are making more than 100K a year….maybe if you’re working in management or professional jobs in O &G or government workers….I pretty sure the median income in Calgary is more Ike $57,000 so please do not mislead people.
Thanks for watching! Not trying to mislead anyone. I’m talking household income, so not just an individual. The income stats are all provided by reputable sources, a quick search will provide a number of resources with the stats.
Correct, just another propaganda deceiving video..... I just watched a video made by a man born and raised in Calgary who just said the opposite of this guy here. So I guess someone is lying. The other guy seemed more honest though.
Cons: cost of living- highest insurance rates in Canada, highest gym membership fees in Canada, higher beauty fees compared to BC ( nails, spa and hair) Politics- welcome to red neck Alberta- the police don’t listen to politicians ( ie covid Inforcement), and people are generally really crazy and conservative Weather- if you weren’t born in Calgary you will 99% have Chinook migraines - we are the migraine capital in North America Healthcare- our waiting room times are exploding and you won’t be able to get a family doctor
You're bang on with insurance premiums! Thank you for sharing that. The rest is your opinion, and hey, to each their own! You appear to be pretty anti Alberta/Calgary. Thankfully no one forces you to live anywhere in Canada, you have that freedom of choice. Thank you for watching!
