All your makes are very pretty and I like your color choices. Especially like your blanket! And your little yarn bowl 💜 OMG ur cat cake is adorable, you should be proud!
Bonjour Nikki! Très joli le chandail que tu portes! Love it! The cake cat is so cute! Love your five cats! The colors of the sweater M W are so gorgeous! Love the way you are so cute (mignon)!
Love your crochet blanket! Makes me want to make one . . . . haven't crocheted in decades. I thoroughly enjoy your program. You are also making me want to find another Marie Wallin sweater to knit. I knit Betha cardigan last year and am so proud of it. I wear it constantly because it makes me feel good knowing I created such a gorgeous thing. 🥰
Thank-you so much Dede! I highly recommend revisiting crochet. I find it so lovely switching between the 2 crafts and honestly want to make ALL the blankets 😂 I looked up Betha on Ravelry--It's beautiful! And it's sooo wonderful that you are wearing it with pride and treasuring your hand-made heirloom 🤗 Admittedly I should be wearing my Chestnut cardigan more often but I've been worrying a cat claw will pull a stitch or I'll spill something on it and ruin it. However, life is too short to not wear our best makes, so I'm going to stop worrying and follow your lead 😘
Aww, thank you so much Nikki, for the kind words about my podcast, and the encouragement 😊 Do you know of the Soulful Spinner here on RUclips? She's an amazing spindle spinner, and a gentle guide when if comes to that (I'm a total failure on a spindle, lol) I think your idea for DK socks from the Winter book is perfectly do-able 🥰 Also, love your mug and those gorgeous socks ❤
My pleasure Cary 😘 I spent some time watching the Soulful Spinner's dropspindle tutorial today and am so excited about finally taking this plunge! Thank-you for your kind words and for inspiring me with your KAL 🤗💕
As always, a podcast full of inspiration and wonderful colours. I love the crochet edge on the sweater you wear, I have never seen that before. Thank you for showing the ceramics, I had been looking forward to seeing your items since you mentioned the course. I would like to do something like that some time. Your ceramic cup is adorable and a perfect size. It must be lovely to work with clay. I did try the thing you mentioned with clay flying everywhere at a friend’s place 😊 Well done for all the weaving in ends as you go on your projects. Your Samphrey looks beautiful. I still have not found the mood for casting it on, still recovering from knitting the Chestnut 😊 I will follow your path with converting it, maybe even into a raglan. When I go off-piste on projects, I always measure against sweaters I like, that way making sure it will fit. I knit a sweater for my partner (now husband) 20 years ago. The sweater curse is just a nice excuse not to knit a huge sweater for a partner who probably will find it prickly 😊 I bought spincycle once, I loved them so much, but they are just so expensive since I can not find them in EU. That was a big motivation for learning how to spin. Sorry, that was long, I guess I got carried away. The new year always get me excited for crafting 😊
Thank-you so much sweet Inger 😘 I took your advice and measured my Samphrey progress against another (non-knitted) drop-shoulder top and I think I'm going to be ok with the armholes 🤞 I think you're right about the sweater curse 😂 Hope you're having a lovely weekend 🤗💕
Hola from Ecuador! Your podcast was great fun to watch today as I knit shawls for my 2 downstairs ladies to keep them warm..I love your sweater for John and can't wait to hear of your drop spindle spinning with 5 cats jaja! I suggest you put on the travelling birdfeeder to divert their attention 😁 yay to your finished blanket it looks gorgeous! Lalas birthday cake is awesome! Keep making them! Good luck with the interview I'm sure you will ace it! Missing you all oh...ANYTHING is more important than housecleaning!
@@KnittingWithCatHair I am making the Odessy shawl by joji locatelli keeping with the south American vibe...no I would not call myself a shawl maker...ever lol
Ohhh I'm so glad you're going to try your hand at spinning😍. My best tip specifically for spinning socks is really corriedale and it is quite easily spun☺. Cary and I are both here if you need help. I just love all your projects that you work on 😍and when it comes to cakes I am exactly the same😅. Yes, the thing with sleeves, my biggest question to most designers is just why don't you think more about it, because no matter how good the rest of the swaters looks, for example, a bad sleeve can ruin everything🤔. And for a beginner, I can imagine and there can be a lot of uncertainty. Always so much fun watching your podcasts and I'm so glad you keep it real💞. I'm totally wrong when it comes to cleaning, my husband claims that I have a cleaning mania when I do clean and it happens at most once a week otherwise it takes time away from knitting and spinning🤣🤣
Thank-you so much Emilia 😘 And thank-you for the beginner-friendly spinning fibre advice! I can't wait to try it 🤗 Glad to hear I'm not the only one avoiding cleaning as much as possible 😂 Hope you're having a lovely weekend! 💕
I knit my husband a sweater the winter before we got married and a second one the first year of our marriage. We have been happily married for 37 years. Knit the sweaters everyone.
The cake is great! Hey, on sweater fit, the game changer for me was the Amy Herzog The Ultimate Sweater book. Amy stresses body measurements and shows how that impacts different sweater constructions. Love your knits - I’m planning on joining the Marie Wallin MAL with Lovage in J&S. It’s a bit of a gamble because I’m using non- pattern yarn and colors.
Thanks so much Julie! Yes! I have been wracking my brain trying to remember which author/designer focused on body measurements. Thank-you for the book recommendation! Lovage is such a beautiful pattern and I can't wait to see yours 🤗💕
thank you for your thoughts on measurements....I am new to sweater knitting and this will help! and love your sweaters.....so pretty. I just finished my first Jennifer Steingass sweater and love it.
Hi Nikki! Such a nice episode! Love how Teti’s sweater turned out! And absolutely loved the squishy stitch of the socks! The crochet blanket looks beautiful and the colors you chose match just perfect! Hugs from Argentina! (It’s me, Vik, using the new account from my new knitting podcast😊)
I agree! I love when knitting podcasters show their struggles as well as their achievements. It’s not always perfect! I just ripped out a sweater that I thought I would love but sadly the designer just doesn’t work for me. Oh well! Thanks for sharing your makes 😊
So sorry to hear about your sweater. I've left one particular designer behind as well because if I wanted to design my own sweater pattern, I'd do just that! 😂 Onwards and upwards 💕
Ooh yes, do dive in to spinning 😀 One of the first things I knit with my handspun yarn was a pair of slippers, inspired by Lisa of The Soulful Spinner. Check her podcast out, too, because she does loads with spindles of all sorts! Happy Birthday to your 13 year old 🎉 may it be a great year for her! Best of luck on your job interview - you’ll do great! 🤗xx
Thanks so much Susan! I spent some time watching Lisa's drop spindle tutorial today and am sooooo excited to finally give it a go. Now I just need to order the supplies 🤗 Thanks for the well-wishes and hoping you, Tom and your fur-babies are doing well 😘
Your partner sounds incredibly knitworthy! So glad to hear that he cherishes your knits, and so glad to hear that you can still make for your daughter too, even if she's picky.
I'm loving watching your podcasts. You are inspiring with your knitting. Just a comment about your nickname for Valentines Day. V Day is actually meant for Veteran's Day in the US at least. IMHO Valentines Day should never be shortened to V Day. I watched Selma's podcast when she mentioned the knitting before cleaning bit. I totally agree! When I am expecting company and need to do tidying up, I make a to do list, and my reward for cleaning and tidying is knitting for the rest of the day! I've started to think about completing chores as a little gift to myself, because they are no longer hanging over my head. I hope that makes sense? Good luck with your spindle spinning! I'm hoping to take some spinning classes this Spring, and can't wait!
Thanks Marg. TBH I'm not overly familiar with American holidays. Sounds like you have a nice reward system set up for yourself when it comes to balancing chores & knitting! Spinning classes will be wonderful! Happy Making 💕
I have a sweater in the queue for my husband and was not aware of the make-along that starts on 2/14 (right there with you about v-day). Although I’ll be in the middle of 3 test knits (how did I get myself into this predicament?… crept up on me) I’m going to cast on his “Georgetown Henley” on that day and make it my dedication knitting for 30 minutes every day until some of the Test knits have been completed. Seeing a lot of interest in Henleys lately. Thank you for the motivation!
Hi Liz 😊 I had a look at the Georgetown Henley--it's a wonderfully classic sweater and I've now added it to my faves 😂 Best of luck with your 3 test-knits and your "cursed knitting" 😉💕
Aww thanks Nikki! I am working on the tutorial and how I want to present that information. I want to cover necklines too because there isn’t as much information out there about the neck, but I might need to include that part at a later date since I don’t have a current buck steeking project. I also want to include two at a time sleeves knit in the round and steeled. I’m going to demonstrate this with my current project (Rydal) which should be knit one at a time down in the round but I’m converting to two in the round steeked. Once I get them knit up I plan on doing my tutorial on it and discussing the sleeve hole placement as well! Just need to knit a little faster!
Thanks for the tip Georgiana! I think what I need to do is bring my partner yarn shopping with me so he can pet all the lovelies and let me know which one(s) he likes 🤗 Happy Making 💕
100% with you on the cleaning. Everything gets so dusty and disorderly so quickly! I’d seriously rather be knitting 😂 Also, my birthday is on Valentine’s Day so I’m with you on that one too (expensive flowers and all the restaurants booked out - it’s the pits haha)
Hi Nicki, I love your podcast! I always listen on weekend mornings with a cup of coffee :) For your Nightshift shawl, how will you use your two colorways of Noro yarn? Do you plan to just switch colorways in each new section of the shawl? I'm planning to make one using two colorways of variegated yarn as well and am wondering the best way to do it. Thanks!
Thank-you so much Tracey 😘 For my Nightshift I plan on just using the one colour as the background throughout the entire shawl and using the 2nd colour as the foreground throughout so I'll basically be ignoring the "sections". Happy Making 💕

Hello 😊 I get the same issue when I'm sewing when it comes to sizes. If I go just by bust size then the waist will never fit me. I suppose with knitting patterns it's the same thing and you have to check the measurements all the way around. Like you said, everyone's a different shape. I really noticed this when I knit for my mum. She's small around her shoulders but has a 42" bust. I tried knitting something for her bust size and the neck and shoulders were huge! It's definitely a game of casting on one size, knitting a different bust size etc. I had the same issue with arms but she was fine with them being too big. It's all fun and games hey haha RUclips never shows me your videos so I'm very behind on watching your episodes. I must go back and catch up 😊
Hi Emily! Thanks so much for watching and sharing your knitting/sewing experiences. Talking of different measurements, I really wish designers included more measurements (specifically the yoke depth, for bottom up sweaters! How am I supposed to know if I need to lengthen the body if I don’t know how deep the armscye goes?).
