My favorite fish to eat from our Tennessee River is Sauger "jack". Usually have to fight cold weather and getting hung up in the rocks to get them. But I have caught them in deeper water as well.
One time I caught a big ass drum about 6-7lbs those things are very underated and powerful being labeled as a trash fish. That thing peeled out drag on my blackmax baitcaster and I'm pretty sure I had it fully set at 14lbs of drag, mean ass fish!! Luckily I had 14 lb Red Cajun which is a stout line, always match your line to your drag setting!!
I watch your videos over coffee every morning, down here in Texas. These videos bring laughter and joy to my life. I ALWAYS have 3 poles (each one rigged for different style fishing) and my tackle box with me, so I can fish when I can throughout my work day. Thank you for all the tips, tricks, smiles, and laughter which helps me get to a good place to start my day, and God bless you fer it!
Cold and windy this morning, had to blow the leaves in a pile and bag them and put on curb. Then the sun came out and the wind died down. The I had to go fishin because Richard says ITS GOOD FOR YEE !!!! Caught some good bluegill too!!
Great video, thank you Richard for taking us along. Glad you decided not to wade, that water was making me cold just watching you. Plus those slips where you accidentally sit down in that cold water, NOT fun. Love the creeks, streams and river fishing, you never know what's going to grab the line. I appreciate all your tips and tricks and the varied spots you take us to. Proud for you sir of your fishing abilities as well as your goals of being a fisher of men. God bless you and your family and have a blessed day my friend.
Thank You Richard, for all the super info, You for sure are the best fisherman ever! We love and appreciate the great hard work you put into these videos. May God Bless you, momma sue and the rest of the family always!!!
Thank you Sir. I've learned so much from your instructions on fishing. I can't wait till I can get back out on the lake and put your tip into practice. God bless you and you wife.
Good afternoon Sir. And thank you very very much. Due to health issues and location I am unable to do much fishing anymore, So watching your videos IS GOOOOOD FUR ME 😂. Have a God blessed day and stay safe.
Richard. I am a new follower and can’t get enough of your videos. Best fishing videos and thoroughly enjoy them. I have NEVER followed anyone for any reason until I found this channel. Keep up the great videos and very interesting info.
Nikko hellgrammites are probably the greatest bait in that size range that I have ever fished. Nikko makes an awesome leech bait, too, that I always have with me, too.
It took me some time to find larger hellgrammite plastics around here. I normally don't mess with bugs that bite to go fishing with. Obviously, a good choice to keep in mind. THANKS!
Been watching you for years mr Richard . I would love to watch a video of you in your kayak on a small river like you found here and find some crappie . Big lakes are known for them but how awesome would it be to find those babies in a small river and just wear them out that would be a blessing to me to watch
If you want to catch Shoal Bass, you'll have to fish the Flint River in Georgia (or another stream in the ACF drainage). The Flint River in Alabama is part of the Tennessee River drainage so Largemouth, Smallmouth and Spotted Bass are the only native black bass there.
There's only one Shoal Bass (Micropterus cataractae) and there's only one Suwannee Bass (Micropterus notius). Shoal Bass and Suwannee Bass are different species of black bass. Suwannee Bass are only native to the Suwannee and Ochlockonee River systems. Populations in the Wakulla, St. Marks and Wacissa rivers in the Florida panhandle are considered introduced. @@brodyburkett3740
Keep getting at them and keep it alive feeding the family and others when you have a lot to share out the one's you catch on those good days out on the water 💦🐟🎣😂😂😂👍👍👍👍
Loved the video!! I would love to have creeks and rivers near me so I could explore. MaMa Sue has that pooch as happy as a wet dog behind a warm stove.
Hi. Is it correct that the Nikko Helgrammite cannot be fished weedless because of the strength of the plastic which does not allow clean hook-ups through the material. Another super video. Thank you
Im definitely going to add the hellgrammite to my arsenal. Richard you've made a believer out of me that it's a fish catching bait. You're definitely one of the few RUclipsrs who inspired me to create my own channel. You have a great channel 👍🏾 Theeeeey! Lol
I have a Male Cat that does the same thing as that dog it comes to My House to get some Love and Food and runs off. I Love the way You are on Fishing so different than the others on here they are always trying to push people to spend tons of money on Boats and fishing gear Making it out that You have to have all the High dollar stuff to be a good fisherman. Keep doing what You are doing Richardx Gene
The creek below the damn on cedar creek lake during the summer is a big bass killer. You have to go when the water is coming over the spill the way of the lake. Later on in fall they start letting water out of the pipe and not coming off the spillway So it’s cold water from deep off the lake and fishing go back down .
Getn my attention with the hellgrammite. Natural forage...an, an...an LOOKAT DAT blue cat you snagged! no chikn, no stink baits...justa daw-gawn plastic bug! hahaha, GREAT!
I love all your videos,, Richard I love all your videos, cutting the Collier off I've done that for years,, the dental floss I've been doing for years,, because they always tear the plastic up ,
Richard Gene, you were only a mile from my house when fishing on this video. Next time hollar at me and we'll grill a few steaks on the bbq. I appreciate all your hard work making these videos.
I've sadly had zero luck on a niko rig. I only use top water lures. Buzz bait wake bait, frogs kvd splash. Plus, I have a spinner bait heavy structure. Where I fish, there's a ton of crap in the water it helps. Only down side is that I can only let it sink 2 to 3 seconds tops. I need a lighter spinner. The reason I had a nice bass was chasing it near the shore during my retrieve. It was about 6 ft back. If I paused it too long, the spinner would have snagged. Sadly, I missed the largemouth bass. 😢
Hey Mean Gene, love your videos! Keep cranking them out! One question. I noticed you were using a Bass Pro Johnny Morris reel. I have two of them myself & love them. Did I understand you to say they were made by Diawa? Either way, they are high quality! Thanks Bud!
Good morning Richard. I hope it’s great for you. I wanted to ask you what kind of kayak you have. I have a perception 11.5. Love it. So far. Only had it for couple of weeks. I watch you all the time. Wooooooo! My my my !! Thank you. God bless. !!!😊
We catch a lot of them here in the Ohio river and the lakes and streams here but mostly river. saugeye also. Hybrid sauger and Walleye and of ciurse we have the walleye and man all of those fish are great eating. That cat you caught on the Nikko is perfect eating size. Yummy!
RICHARD, YOUR VIDEOS ARE SO AWESOME AND VERY EDUCATIONAL. I DO HAVE A QUESTION.... DO YOU GLUE YOUR HELLGRAMITE TO YOUR JIG HEAD LIKE YOU DO YOUR CRAPPIE JIG HEADS?
Ending of RGTFM’s videos is the equivalent of exclaiming: “Ahhhhhhhhhh- YEWWWWWW!!!”😆😆✊🏾✊🏾 P.S.: You know what that bass’ name is that had the one weird eye?…. well, it’s Walleye the Sailor-man.😅
Hello Richard, I am your Canada's fans. You have a very good video in presentation at this time. I have a question for you. Can you please tell what size you are using in this videos for the Hellgrammite lures and the jig hook as well. Thank you !! 🙏🙏🤟

Don’t stop fishing Mr. Richard.. if you stop I stop fishing.. I need to take out a whole day to go.. BECAUSE IT’S GOOD FOR ME❗️ WoooOow❗️😲
I've caught everything off those lures. From smallmouth to drum, catfish and even Buffalo.
Fun day fishing with you. Thanks for the good tips. God bless ya
That catfish is lucky Richard caught him! If I caught that it would be a catch and release into the grease scenario🔥🤣🔥 That was beautiful🥰
He's probably sick of eating fish.
Those channel cats about that size are super tasty, for sure. Woooooo!
Thank you for showing us how you rig your soft lures! Tight lines and God bless
Morning Gene, Man... I love watching your fishing adventures!
Hi. Is it correct that the Nikko Helgrammite cannot be fished weedless because of the strength of the plastic which does not allow clean hook-ups through the material. Another super video. Thank you

Wow it’s crazy to see Richard fishing my local creek. We kill a lotta woodies down the river from that launch

Later on in fall they start letting water out of the pipe and not coming off the spillway So it’s cold water from deep off the lake and fishing go back down .
Awesome video on the hellgrammites. Caddisflys work great for crappie as well.
Love the way you say Sauger .... of course me being raised in NE Alabama we used to call them Jack Salmon
Getn my attention with the hellgrammite. Natural forage...an, an...an LOOKAT DAT blue cat you snagged! no chikn, no stink baits...justa daw-gawn plastic bug! hahaha, GREAT!
That looks like pure good fun fishing Gene
That was a beautiful creek Richard!! The crappie are going crazy right now! But I guess you know that! LOL. LIVE FOR THE THUMP MY FRIEND!!
Most Middle Tennessee creeks with smallies usually give up a sauger or two every trip! Cool!
Bless you Richard Gene. Tell Moma Sue hello. I miss seeing her fishing 😹. She would have liked that sunfish for supper.😂🤷😊
Excellent video Mr. Richard! I noticed that you used your kayak so Bursal must have not eaten beans in a while. That makes me happy. God Bless!
I love all your videos,, Richard I love all your videos, cutting the Collier off I've done that for years,, the dental floss I've been doing for years,, because they always tear the plastic up ,
Locktite should sponsor you.
Love that Sauger fishing.
Richard Gene, you were only a mile from my house when fishing on this video. Next time hollar at me and we'll grill a few steaks on the bbq. I appreciate all your hard work making these videos.
Watched for years and never subscribed. You and the old fisherman have taught me a lot

Looks like a great day of Fall fishing, thanks for sharing as I sit here at my desk.
A sport second to none ~Richard Gene
I caught a 24 and 26" channel cat on 4 pound viscious line this week. I heard about that line on your channel and of course. I didn't horse em in!!!
Hey Mean Gene, love your videos! Keep cranking them out! One question. I noticed you were using a Bass Pro Johnny Morris reel. I have two of them myself & love them. Did I understand you to say they were made by Diawa? Either way, they are high quality! Thanks Bud!

We catch a lot of them here in the Ohio river and the lakes and streams here but mostly river. saugeye also. Hybrid sauger and Walleye and of ciurse we have the walleye and man all of those fish are great eating.

Hey you should make a video about Hellgrammite lures I've never heard you talk about those before
Dude are you a magician? As soon as you said "let's catch another one" a largemouth Bass hits....
Love it!
Hello Richard, do you think you could fish a helgramite with a flyrod?
Hello Richard, I am your Canada's fans. You have a very good video in presentation at this time. I have a question for you. Can you please tell what size you are using in this videos for the Hellgrammite lures and the jig hook as well. Thank you !! 🙏🙏🤟
