I knew the Tor-M1 was cool, but this is just too much. The way the missile launches up, then flips sideways and then activates it's engine is so satisfying. Same with the s300/400

@@lucasmoreno2154 high off boresight means the missile is able to lock targets very far away from its boresight (The boresight being the area the missile sees when looking straight ahead) e.g. R-73 and AIM-9X
The problem is that in order to take real advantage of HOBS missiles we'd need some sort of HMD (Helmet Mounted Display) so you can lock people by looking around, unleashing the true capabilities of the high off boresight. Otherwise it'll just be like any other missile in the game but with better countermeasure resistance and more maneuverability
Honestly the coolest SPAA in the game. The animation and sound is amazing, and watching those giant missiles zip towards the target with their big trails is quite the sight.
I had my volume all the way up to enjoy the sound of the missile being launched only to go deaf from the Chinese commander guy screaming at me
This is essentially the first modern air defense in game. It’ll be cool if they’d add larger ground maps and things like the SA-3 and HAWK air defense in the future
The sa3 and hawk have to large of range for use in war thunder. Not only that but they are not independent vehicles they require multiple vehicles to work

I think the ALT+L feature is supposed to change how the missile guides, whether it uses its own radar to be FOX-1 or being guiding in by hand like all the other radar SPAA’s.
It changes the predictive flight path for the radar lock target. Its always mouse guided regardless, but your mouse will follow a radar lock so..
For the crosshair on top of target, it guides just like every other saclos missile. This is the least efficient of the 3, as the missile doesnt predict where the target will be.
For crosshair in front, it flies a little ahead of the radar lock and turns in toward the target when its about 0.5 km away from the target. This makes the flight path shorter in theory, but is easier to lose track on maneuvering target.
For crosshair next to, it does the same as the last one, but now the missile aims at a point between you and the target.
Theyre all different types of guidance and have advantages depending on the direction of the enemy in relation to you
Also quick thing, I could be wrong but I thought fox 1 is semi active radar homing which is the missile takes the information from the vehicle that fired it from its radar and not it’s own. If it had its own radar it would be a fox3

There is no FOX-1 here.) TOR does not use SARH missiles. It uses SACLOS. Radar on TOR is just another eye.

Really hope other SAMs also get that amazing sound that the TOR M1s missiles have
It should also be noted that the missiles of the 2s6 and the tor1m barely fit in 11.0, but they are kept there by the guns of the first and the radar of the second
The only complaint I have for this is that it doesn't get thermals, it would make things much easier but I guess this might change once the Russian tech tree has it but other than that the TOR-M1 is as impressive as I expected it to be!

Recently as I finished my grind for the new abrams and my cadet mates came online, all 50 of us hoped online and created a operations custom.
we had Anti-air, helis, tanks and a few aircraft, with the 2 sides of this operation in Vietnam oh boy was it good, we had a sqdrn of our Ace of spades in the tomcats keeping air supremacy and we had some British Harriers keeping the ground clear of the other side with both the Chinese and Russian military.
We spent 7hrs playing this and we all enjoyed every last bit of it,
I found it really cool seeing the Anti air missiles coming from seemingly nowhere and coming in our direction.
Best game we’ve ever played together.
Finally, the 3rd person perspective on the launch. Love you, mate.

I think the bit about the IRST can be uncovered by taking a look at X-RAY for the TOR. It does not say it has a "Track Radar/IRST" , but instead "Track Radar/TV". This implies to me that it actually has no IR guidance mode and instead uses contrast like the early Mavericks and Walleyes. This would explain why it can't be used at night, as well as why it has trouble acquiring a lock while also not displaying distance (doesn't have a laser range finder to pair with it)
Do flares work against this mode? Bc if it's a TV guidance type of thing theoretically they shouldn't

What is needed to counter this missile? The only weaknesses I see is the amount of smoke the missile produces and the slow initial launch.
A lot of chaff can break the lock, I saw some pilots successfully doing that while playing.
Split S, drop altitude and chaff. You either saturate the skies with aircraft, or your going to have to bait all 8 missiles.
I just like how the missile fly and launch out of the tank and also i like that your friend helicopter just say hi to you while you're targeting a fighter keep doing your good job have a nice day i'm by the way we have the same time i have that one also like it

Things will get out of Hand once ARH missile come into the game. LoaL would also be cool for stinger based systems, but probably not really fair. Once the Requirement for line of sight is gone, things quickly get out of hand. You fire a missile in the general direction of the target and boom, gone

i think we are going to need some anti radiation missiles now. That wont help with the IRST but if its inconsistent at range then some standoff power would be good.
I think the Alt+L does that the mark on aircraft is that the missile flies where you point it, the mark in front of aircraft is that it will lead the missile in such a way that it hits the aircraft without manual input needed, not sure though.

They ruined the sounds directions on ground and in air, this happens every time the renew the sounds so I hope they don't change it every two months.

It can 3rd person lock target, you need to be at radar mode, not IRST.

Does anyone here know how this works? I can get a lock on 2 targets that are close to each other. I can also switch between te targets with the select radar/irst target keybind. But I dont get how you fire 2 different missiles at 2 targets.
They meant two missiles, one of them following the other .. not both of them at the same exact moment as far as I understood. Similar to Hellfire when firing two missiles at two targets and there is 7 or 8 seconds between them.

No, you will not get RWR warning, and yesterday I was flying against a guy with TOR, he launched three missiles using the radar mode not IRST, I didn't get RWR warning too, we talked about it in the "All Chat", I don't know if it is a bug or not but the TOR lock mark is different, it is similar to TWS passive lock "The non-filled square shape", I was getting away from his missiles only because I was seeing the missile smoke trail, so I was just pulling off to get out of the 12km distance.

so i noticed something at 1:25 that being a different radar lock indicator, I've only seen this on the F-14 on TWS mode so does that mean the tor has something similar to TWS?
I think so yes. Seems like there's a search radar (the one that spins) and a lock radar (the square in front of the missile bay)

I like modern Russian SPAAs, this is the coolest one so far.
Do you have a sound mod installed or did they change the sound of helis flying nearby? That Z-19 at 2:02 sounds a lot different to what i remember, its a lot better.
The Chinese helicopters have their own new sound that was updated before the patch hit.

Can this thing detect drones? That’s my biggest question because no other SPAA I’ve used can properly see drones on radar due to where they spawn and it’s SO annoying getting killed by some dick in a mq-1 when I’m literally sitting in a flarakrad
I remember I saw one drone, by naked eyes .. not by radar.

The other mode is not really IRST I think, it is TV (As written in X-Ray), but in WT we use it by pressing same IRST buttons.

Use the radar and click in the direction until you get radar lock
It's lock radar is very efficient.. You don't even need to find them... Just look at the radar then look at the direction in third person view and spam lock key.. It will acquire lock within 3 clicks...
IRST is weak
why they added this for chinese tree not USSR first?
