the ice is supercooled by piping under the ice. the ice on top is melting and then immediately refreezing. ice is always melting in an ice rink, thats what makes skating on ice possible. the pressure of the blade melts the ice creating a very tiny layer of water and you glide on top of the water. it refreezes immediately after.

Yes, just like tissues are called Kleenex, hook and loop fastener is called Velcro, these resurfacing machines are called Zambonis, even though they could be a different brand. They don't polish the ice exactly, they apply water to create a fresh surface. They might scrape the surface first. I never looked into it that deeply.
Most heavy machinery will use lead acid batteries. It won't burn like lithium but it will produce boiling hot acidic steam, possibly liquid acid spray if the electrolyte boils.
@tsunami094 there are electric zambonies our local rink almost bought one then realized it would probley bankrupt them off the maintenance and buying new batteries every 5 years. And yes that was life expectancy of the batteries in them
Oh I've got a better idea it's called a fire hose hooked to a truck sitting outside with a thousand gallons of water on it if done properly is hooked to a hydrant which is an endless water supply

As a hockey player I was so surprised how he was able to stop using the toe pick on figure skates. I’ve been playing for seven maybe eight years and I can’t skate with a figure skate because of the stupid toe pick. I’ve fell on my face every time. 😂😂
