    Most of the super shoes (apart from the Asics) have widened the base for a bit more stability, but more width = more foam = more weight

    Biggest trend I've seen in 2024… On and Hoka running shoes dominating in Airports as the most travel-ready and travel-preferred shoes VS those Nike SB dunks and Adidas Sambas

    Love this video Chris, your observations are spot on, especially the weight of super shoes and fast trail shoes (I love the Fuji Speed 2 as well!), glad to see you're back running too, if only short distances, I've felt your pain through all the videos!

    Outsoles are such an under looked feature, particularly for those of us in the UK. Puma and adidas shoes are always close to the top of my list when buying as I know they'll grip well on wet roads, the same can't be said for ASICS and Saucony.

    Not sure whether it counts as a trend, but after years of being left behind and stuck in the past, the last 12 months have seen Mizuno reappear with some super interesting shoes. The Rebellion Pro and Flash and now the Neo Vista are a far cry from their stale line up. They’ve always done quality gear and quality shoes but got left behind in the tech. Looks like that’s changing and they are actually exciting in their releases now and it’s nice to see that!

    I still wish ASICS would bring their same outsoles in the magic speed 4 and meta speed to the novablast and superblast. I don’t understand why they don’t make that their outsole if it is so much better in wet conditions etc.

    The variations thing is to help sales and marketing I think. If you bring out a new shoe and call it the Brooks Stallion Max (obviously they wouldn’t use that name 😂) it has to grow a reputation…the Brooks Ghost Max is already halfway there due to name recon

      I'm not sure stack height can be increased all that much anymore. First time running in my Brooks Ghost Max I almost twisted my ankle. They feel a bit like running on 70's plateau shoes. Making them any higher becomes ridiculous IMHO. I like them but I prefer something a bit closer to the ground.

    • @gorohit
      @gorohit Месяц назад +1

      @@MrSeedi76 I understand your point. But Adidas Prime X has already pushed the boundaries. And most of the reviews of Pegasus 41 are on the lines of 'not enough stack height'. This trend is worrying though.

    I'm with you in that I really REALLY don't get why the 'super' shoes are getting so heavy. Once upon a time (back in my day when I were a lad and you had take the horse and carriage to the races) racers were all about the absolute lightest possible shoe to the point where 'racing flats' were like wearing pieces of tissue paper, and gawd help you if you had any biomechanical issues at all.
