Note before watching: This probably doesn't make any canonical sense, but i had fun making it regardless.
A project i've been working on for close to 2 weeks. Really proud with how it turned out.
fun facts:
- This is my first time making an actual machinima, and not some short, shitposty one
- It was originally supposed to be stop motion, but i realized how bad i was at it, resulted in using HAT for most of the animation work. You can see a bit of stop motion in this really early work in progress draft: • Communication_WIP_2
- I used around 100 or so sound effects throughout
- 70% of this film is comprised of screenshot stills
- 99% of this film is recorded with the natural, in game lighting. No colour correction or pre-production light adjustments were made. I used a brightness slider on only 1 clip.
- I recorded only one shot with VR, try and figure out which one it was.
- A totally different ending was planned but was scrapped at the last minute (Gman finds out that the rebel heared about the combine arriving, so he ends up "thanos snapping" him out of existence so gordon could pass through undisturbed. Thought this made absolutely no sense.)
- There is a single attention to detail easter egg hidden in this video, try and find it (hint, its gun related)

Wow! Youre inspiring me i also made a Gmod machinima two days ago also from HL2 universe but i think its nowhere as good as your one. Great job.

So about the fisherman story:
The main protagonist "fisherman" is a old man living on coast with his wife hiding from hte combine,his wife gets ill from the xen spores that started spreading around theyr house so he tries to find a group of Vortigaunts who might know how to help.

Why is there a CP in the outlands.?
Good point, CP's dont actually appear in this part of the game at all. I have two explanations, one being that this was set way way before gordon ever really arrives to the outlands (Or maybe, to city 17 at all), so maybe Civil protection used to petrol here, two, like my description says, this might not make canonical sense and in the context of the concurrent timeline of hl2, this video is completely nonsensical. In future video's like these tho, i will make attempt to try and stay within line of the actual canon and not swerve too much into creative liberty lol
