  • A short video from a recent watershed survey in rural Maharashtra where Watershed Management Group and our partner organization Grampari have been working with communities to provide a safe and sustainable source of drinking water.
In the hills of the Western Ghats many villages traditionally relied on springs for drinking water. Unfortunately, these springs are in decline due to increased groundwater demand, ecosystem degradation and a changing climate.
We work with communities to install simple systems that protect springs, prevent contamination, efficiently harvest water and gravity feed it to nearby villages. We want to share this approach and make it a model for communities throughout the Western Ghats.
To help Watershed Management Group continue to develop projects like these in India and Burkina Faso, West Africa, please make a donation here: watershedmg.org/wmginternational. (Watershed Management Group is a 501(c)3 nonprofit and all donations are tax-deductible.)

Im guessing that they observed the natural topography and areas there is an increase in vegetation, typically in gullys and channels etc-perhaps then they dug channels across the slope in these areas to collect more water or to intensify
