Non-Intrusive Pipeline Isolation and Valve Station Changeout Process

See the step-by-step process for performing a pipeline valve station changeout using a non-intrusive pipeline isolation system to minimize downtime and revenue losses. In this animated video, we first show how the SmartPlug® system can be launched similarly to a cleaning pig, then positioned in the pipeline using gas. Next, a reinforcement clamp is placed around the pipeline before the SmartPlug® is remotely activated, creating a double block to hold back pressure. Once the SmartPlug® is in place, the old valves and pipeline can be removed and replaced with new ones. After the changeout is complete, the plug is released, the clamp is removed, and the plug returns to the launcher for retrieval. This changeout is all accomplished with no need to flare gas into the environment.
