- Frankford is a neighborhood in the Northeast section of Philadelphia situated about six miles (10 km) Northeast of Center City. Although its borders are vaguely defined, the neighborhood is bounded roughly by the original course of Frankford Creek on the south to Adams Avenue on the southwest, to Roosevelt Boulevard on the west border to Cheltenham Avenue on the north to the Trenton Line on the east. Adjacent neighborhoods are Bridesburg, Kensington, Juniata, Oxford Circle, Summerdale, and Wissinoming. Historically, Frankford had an unofficial division separating Frankford (proper) from East Frankford encompassing the area east of Frankford Avenue. The division divided the community first along racial lines, with African Americans on the east of Frankford Avenue and Caucasians to the west.[citation needed] As the community has become less homogeneous, the division is more of a vestige of the past.
In 2005, the 19124 ZIP code, which roughly contains Frankford and Juniata, had a median home sale price of $81,075, an increase of 22% over 2004.

23:15 You went down church past. The baseball field made a right on to Adam's. Avenue soon as you passed factory street, I was born and raised the three story houses on the right, including the one with the courtyard just on the right. Across the street used to be a paperfectory. I was born in juniata and frankfurt hospital when it was called that at the time on the circle. From age 0 to 11. Almost sixty three years old now, so seeing this is a trip.
At 2:53, lantern fly on your wipers
I grew up on Jackson (& Wakeling) Street in the 60's. I appreciate and enjoy your videos.
That street you were on is pronounced RU-ANN. There is another street that goes through Holmesburg called Rhawn pronounced the way you're saying it.
Awesome video
Out of all your tours.
The Philly ones are my favourites.
And I love your commentaries.😃..
Thank you Toon👵
another wonderful tour TY TOON
Thank you Ed! Appreciate you supporting the channel man, 💚❤️💚❤️ much love Salute. Have a great day sir 👐🏽🙌🏼😎
Nice tour Toon. Very cool you running into your nephew.
These videos are are addicting to watch, you’re very entertaining. I’m not even from Philadelphia lol I’m from the west coast Washington state!
Frankford! I spent so many of my summers on Filmore /Foulkrod street. I actually just spent 3 weeks at an air bnb right on bridge street where the Walgreen's and churches chicken is at. They are starting to prep that area for gentrification because of the Market street terminal and the older style porch front homes.
This drive around was on point as always and you always educate people. Have a blessed day Toon 💯🙏👍
Wow that’s awesome Teri. Hope you had a cool stay there recently. Thanks for always supporting and showing love ❤️💯🙏🏼 many blessings to you and your loved ones 🌹
Thanks for the tour Toon, Bless you all, stay Safe Brother
Thank you sir! I appreciate your kindness. Hope you have a blessed day 💯🙏🏼
This vid again it's hilarious toon. Saw ur nephew on d street lol that's a surprised after 2yrs? 😊. I'm lurking 👀 lol
Thanks for leaving a comment. Appreciate it. Yea I didn’t grow up with my mom. So all my brothers and sisters didn’t grow up that close to me. They all have kids but I’m not that close to them. I have about 20 nieces and nephews. The brother I’m mentioning in this video doesn’t even have custody of that son either so he barley sees him. That’s why I was estatic.... last time I seen him was when my brother picked him up for a weekend and brought him by me so I can say Wasup to him 😎🙏🏼. Have a great day .
@@TOON215 .. ty for talking about d 2yrs :), we already know d rest bc u talked about it on ur vids. It's so wonderful how happy & excited u r to see him & he feels d same way. That's simply awesome toon👏💕🙏tc
I lived everywhere you showed in Frankford one place or the other lol. Crazy how much it's changed. I lived there in the '80s when people of different races first started hanging out and getting along up until the early 2000s and it was great!! Now idk but it's definitely not the same
That area of Torresdale is a whole confusing mess trying to drive thru. Kensington and Allegheny was never a go-to-spot it was always Somerset, 5th and Indie,Cambria and a few other spots. Kensington and Allegheny was more of a shopping area than anything up until like you said the past couple of years. I love how you know all your stuff!! Thanks for these videos, I love seeing the hoods I don't really go thru these days again❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your story and showing support. I appreciate it. I know I always hear about how family friendly it use to be back in the day ❤️🙏🏼💯 appreciate you engaging. Hope you have a great day
Same I’m from FKD I grew up on Griscom & church It was a middle-class working community the only place they really had riffraff was the projects and the projects wasn’t even that bad we never lock their doors everybody knew everybody Most people in Philly didn’t even know where Frankford was in the 90s and early 2000s
Love the lantern fly cruising with you on your windshield wiper!😂
Good ride Toon
Thank you very much 🙏🏼
Dude❤yer stuff is 🔥 hot
Awww, happy to see your nephew Toon
👋🏼
Have a great day at work 💛
Born and raised in Frankford..
You stayed mostly west of Frankford Avenue. Back in the day,me and my first wife rented a tiny apartment on Dyre street, toward the middle of the block on the east side of the El tracks. It was always a little crazy down there, appears to have gotten worse since the early 1980s when I stayed there.
In this video I stood mostly west because I have Atleast seven videos I stood mainly east of Frankford 😂 in the video I said it I have plenty of footage of the whole Frankford area. Just browse my channel more. Or type Frankford Toon215 in RUclips and some more come up. Thanks for commenting and sharing your story 💚🙏🏼
@@TOON215 yes,I like your vids a lot! You've driven through several stages of my past, lots of memories for this 69 year older.
Your nephew was glad to see you, bragging to his friend, told ya that's my uncle Toon!! Lol. Stay saf Toon
Haha Catherine, thanks for the support 😅💕✊🏽 appreciate you

That is one from Frankford when I was a baby Christian St., Bristol Bristol Street and Broad Street I said wrong street
But I’m moving now I live on 5430 Large St.
Something about Toon narrating that whole scene with the kids buying ice cream was hilarious.
The street is not rhawn. It is ruan pronounced roo ann
We pronounce it berksheer not shire like in the hobbit hahahah.
Had relatives on that street for decades. Always pronounced it "shire".
@@fairlessdave1834 u American tho
@@DirtyDrops yes grew up in Wissinoming.
Ii enjoyed this. I grew up on torresdale and pratt street.
That dude needs a crack detector.
Haha thanks for sharing your thoughts 🙏🏼
I hope the recent events in Afghanistan don’t affect the poppy fields we’ve been over there cultivating since 2001, so that these fine folks can continue to receive the medicine they so desperately need…
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a nice day
Thanks for engaging in the comment section 🙏🏼
I see several You Tubers jumping on the 'poverty-porn' wagon to exploit the Kensington area. Instead of the City trying to solve the problem why not just promote it as a tourist attraction, what else does Philly have to offer? I bet an agent could get bus loads of Chinese tour groups to circle the area like they are on a safari or something. Making
money off of misery, it's the American way!
The several you tubers you seen probably are outsiders and don’t come from the neighborhood. I was born and raised in this area. Spent my whole life here and began virtually mapping out the city in 2017.... there’s a such thing as google maps right? Well what I’m doing its like a virtual google maps. I do driving tours, walking tours, scooter tours and more. I’ve covered over 100+ neighborhoods in Philadelphia pa. There’s over 500 Philadelphia tours on my channel. I don’t only show the bad neighborhoods I show the wealthy/million dollar and middle class neighborhoods too. And when I speak I am speaking as a life long resident from experience and from the life time memories I have in the area. So I wouldn’t necessarily compare my self to the several other individuals you are recalling who probably only stay under the same 10 blocks of Kensington avenue where the opioid crisis is Thriving.
For example that neighborhood in it self is huge. But many other channels don’t show the back blocks or family oriented nature of the Kensington neighborhood. Next, there’s actually 4 seperate neighborhoods that carry the name Kensington , the other 3 which are thriving and have been or being here gentrified as we speak. (East Kensington, west Kensington and olde Kensington) all 3 which I’ve showed in numerous videos in great detail and spoke about little historical details on each ,
Lastly my goal for this footage is to have some what of the same impact as this footage 100-500 years from now ruclips.net/video/8Q5Nur642BU/видео.html . I can’t speak on what everyone else’s goal is...
If I don’t document my city. Who will 🤷🏽♂️❤️
Thanks for sharing your thoughts have a blessed day
@Song Sabai, Ya can’t shame the shameless but at least don’t give ‘em any more ideas, my friend ;-)
Thanks, TOON. I don’t comment much but thanks a lot for your work. You put a lot into your channel and quality shows. Please take care, *you matter too.*
