I am just getting back into RTR after an almost 50 year absence. And I am fascinated by the NAB's on your machine. It appears they are attached to the machine, which has to be much easier and quicker than trying to hold the NAB on the reel and guide it on the spindles. I can't quite make out what brand your RTR is. If the NAB's are an aftermarket product can you tell me where I might be able to find a pair for my Pioneer? Did your RTR have to be modified to accept this style of NAB's? Also, Thank You for the splicing video. I am in the process of getting another RTR with the auto-reverse. Your videohas helped me immensely!
The machine is AKAI GX-635D and needs no modification. These are AKAI's and are the best. They can be mounted on all machines without any problems. Great vid. Thanks for taking the time to do it. I just bought a Pioneer RT 909 with auto reverse and wanted to install a strip at each end of the reel. It was a bit hard to see but it looked like you were installing the strip on both sides of the tape? But I assume it runs against the tape heads correct? I was thinking of trying some of that light weight silver duct tape you can buy at a hardware store. Do you think that would work because having no luck finding what you bought. Thanks again.
Probs a bit late with this but don't use that duct tape, apparently the adhesive on it can bleed out and gunge up yer tape path. Best cutting your own from baking foil and stick it with a tiny smear of pva glue using a q tip. Let it dry for 15 mins and off yer go.
@@kerrylittle3900 Yer welcome. I use the baking foil thingy on my teac and it works fine. If you do it use the thicker foil rather than the cheap wrapping foil 👍
#Hwords1 Just on the back side of the tape, not in the side that the tape touch the heads, you can see that in the video. But if you mean at start point and end point, so yes, on both sides if you want the auto reverse on side A or on side B of the tape and of course continuously auto reverse

Did you put the foil tape on both sides of the tape or just one side
I have the pioneer RT 909 and did not know if it needs to go on the inside or outside of the tape

The aluminum foil touches the rear side of the leader tape and the magnetic head identifies it (when you have an automatic reverse option)
