The DD came later in the N64's life cycle than this. The Zelda game that was going to use it was "Ura Zelda," an expansion on OoT. The OoT Beta is just that: an early version of the game.

As I know, Nintendo of Japan (Aka EAD) still have these version of Ocarina of Time instead of deleting everything ... If only someone in Nintendo have balls to take a copie (both Alpha and Beta), compile it and release it, just like the guy do for the Debug Rom ...
@BeanManIncorporated Indeed, but I think in this case alpha would mean the stuff that's ahead, the stuff that's the best, you know? Say in terms of a wolf pack, the alpha is in charge, and the beta is second to the alpha. Everyone puts it like this when it comes to this, you'll see in related videos.
The footage in this video was shown at E3 way back in the day when OoT was planned to come out on the N64DD. But the N64DD was scrapped and they basically started over and released it on the N64.
It was a disc add-on for the N64 that allowed for bonus content to be added to the cartridge games. Really unnecessary IMO(which is probably why it wasn't released i the US). Look up F-Zero X 64DD, the disc adds a track creator, a car creator, and more.

Just some advice: If you see an old comment that bugs you, it's probably best to just leave it, because the person probably won't care to reply to it and everyone else is either looking around for the comment or ignoring it. well considering that the early beta version were basically A Link to the Past in 3D, it makes sense, considering Link DOES get the Triforce in Alttp

This is real beta, haha. you can tell by the mere presence of the triforce. origionally, you had to find it instead of the gems (i think)
