This video brings back fond fishing memories. I was working in Kuantan back in the mid-70s, around the time Tun Abdul Razak passed away. The new friends I made loved fishing and I joined them on many occasions. One day we strayed aimlessly to Pekan and stopped at a disused sawmill right on the bank of the Pahang River. We never heard of anyone ever done any fishing here before. So, it was just for fun and trying out our luck. I hooked up a full load of sotong, tossed it in and lit a cigarette. Before the ciggy was halfway through, the rod bent and stayed that way. When we hauled it up we were delirious to find a huge soon hock. It weighed 14 katties. We did not use metric those days and it would convert to 8.4 kg. I don't do any fishing these days.
