Never smelled Ostara 👀
Actually I own Zero Penhaligon bottles tbh. . Not a brand that I got on with.... maybe Sartorial is full bottle worthy 🤷♂️

@@RamseytheRam It’s funny you mention that; I am not huge on Penhaligon’s either. I own a bottle of vintage Blue Bell (nostalgia) & a bottle of discontinued Ostara because I’m a huge narcissus fan! I’m so happy to have found so many wonderful friends in the fragrance community! My husband and I joke around that I finally have something as intensive as his fantasy football as a hobby 😂🤣 - it’s really delightful to connect with the small group of wonderful humans who really love to learn the minutiae and detail of this beautiful art form! Saw ouch110 video on the house and I was curious,then time slipped by and then ,outa sight outa mind happened I guess ,so here we are on this offering and I think you brought a real firm explanation and comparison to what can be expected ,great job sir, but you actually have me very intrigued with Le Lion right now I wanna try this one for sure in the not so distant future. Oh by the by I do really enjoy L’anarchriste, had a wearing today, nose back online thankfully, I even went to my barber for a hair and shave day ,damn it’s good for what ails ya let me tell you lol.cheers buddy have a cracking weekend,smell ya later 👍🙏✌️

I am obsessed with Master Perfumer Christophe Laudamiel! From the Zoo in addition to Everlasting, you must test Club Design, Amber Classico Modern, and Louis. I also love Community, Smile & Shine, Fig My Love, and Rhubarb My Love. Carré Blanc is a crazy perfume that is so polarizing, and I would get a kick out of seeing you review that one as it is impossible to describe and like nothing else on the market. In terms of his work for other brands, I love Rich Mess, which is kind of a flanker of Club Design, and I also love fallintostars from strangelove. Many of Christophe’s perfumes take time to understand, and some of them may not feel that special at first, but if you do hang out with them for a bit, you begin to smell the quality and depth in each of them, and they take you to places in the perfume world where no one else has been. P.S. I know you appreciate a good vintage, and Christophe’s perfumes can feel very modern, even futuristic, but don’t give up!

I'm also a big labdanum fan, other I can recommend trying but not worth the amount of cash is stephane humbert lucas o hira marketed as ambergris, but to me is mostly labdanum and resins with maybe a touch of ambergris, beautiful but ridiculous price. La couche du diable is also a good one, with the "oud" kind of dried fruit accord. It's a beautiful material, not expensive but yet, not much fragrances with that ingredient in focus, more used as a support note, no idea why
Love O Hira (but prefer the earlier, vintage(?) bottling)!
Got a decant of La couche du diable and would totally buy a full bottle if not for me boycotting the new Serge Bottles 😊🤣
another labdanum fragrance that has gotten some hype (I can't comment on whether it deserves the hype or not since I haven't smelled it but I'm pretty sure persolaise has reviewed it)-serge luten's la couche du diable.
I have a decant of la couche du diablo and I will say there is a bit if synthetic oud in the serge lutens... here it is striclty labdanum.... but that is a great shout as the Serge is like an oud / labdanum frag 😊
Well, I went to check the date/batch code of my Amber Absolute, but sadly it was so poorly printed,
on the bottom, I had to open my sealed 50ml.
Thought I could go back and check and check PP for the date of purchases, but it seems it only goes back so far.
Then I went to check LuckyScent, and they do have great records, but nope.
So I went to Neiman, but my purchase history was wiped out because of their data breach.
So, begrudgingly, well it's B45, 2015/04.
I thought I had one of those screw caps of Amber Absolute, but I don't.
Heck Ramsey, I don't even know what it smells like.
I forgot I had a screw cap of Tobacco Oud. I smell it on my fingertips. It's kinda nice.
I have an almost full Plum Japonais. I enjoyed that the first time I tried it.
It's a sexy monk
I follow Christopher on RUclips, and I like his revolutionary spirit and mind.
I've yet to sample his work.

I got Amber Absolute because of Carlos.
Jesus, I pulled all this Tom Ford stuff out.
Most of it's unopened because of all the decants and samples I have.
I got these screw caps from LuckyScent back in the day when they had great stuff with purchases.
Sometimes they still do.
Got an Oliver Dubano set. A woman and a man's from LS.
What the hell was it. Black Tomerlin. I think that's how you spell it.
Wayyyy overpriced. The opening is harsh. I would much rather wear a Montana or Memoir Man,
or a Comme des Garcons. If I remember correctly, I just grew tired of wearing it.
Ohh, speaking of harsh openings, finally gave Riveria Nights a wearing.
Chaotic synthetics in the opening. This is not like YSL's La Nuit, at all.
I did spray the inside of the box when I first got it. It's not so smooth on the skin.
I like Fuyro much better.
Riveria Nights isn't bad, but it's like an upgraded Cambridge.
I like Open by Roger & Gallet better.
Speaking of spraying inside of the box. I got Lalique Hommage a L'homme.
I sprayed the inside of the box, and it was like a freshly opened pack of cigarettes.
On skin though, nope. I'm smelling the box right now, and even though I sprayed it over a month ago,
it still smells like fresh tobacco. So strange huh.
OK, I gotta put this Tom Ford stuff away. Holy shit it's after 1 AM.

I recall Laudamiel posting his formula for Amber Absolute on social media. I think Galen did a vid on that. But yeah, he worked with Morillas on Trussardi's Uomo Fresh that sports a very interesting use of artemesia and cloves. Still vacillating over getting a bottle before they disappear completely, but not the greatest of fragrances imo.
Ahhhhh that was him wasnt it??? It was like the juice was only 2 dollars and 14 cents or something wicked like that 😂

@@RichMitch They do sample sets, but I think some of his fragrances aren’t currently allowed in the EU (I could be wrong but I believe he is working on EU-only reformulation of some).
I love your early impressions videos, the way you dissect the fragrance and give us comparisons and we get a peek inside your process is so informative. I find labdinum challenging yet fascinating. I can handle heavy cumin, civet, indoles and dirty musk but something about labdinum makes me nauseous. It’s so familiar though and I can’t stop wanting to sniff it.
Side note: because of you I got a sample of Epic woman and it is incredible! 🙏🏼
Forgot to mention Christopher Laudimel has a small boutique in NYC I’ve been meaning to visit and smell the line.
Congrats on Epic Woman! It is absolutely stunning isnt it? Shocked more people arent talking about it... stunned more people are talking about it.... I have been blessed to wear some amazing fragrances lately... have you tried Le Lion? I would urge you to sample le lion or even buy a bottle and put it away for future use because it is the Ultimate Labdanum fragrance & it is rare to say a 300 dollar fragrance has a high value for money but to me value for money from le lion is through the roof... it wipes the floor with Rojas Haute Luxe & that is a 3500 dollar a bottle fragrance for 100ml ..where for 400 bucks you get 200 ml of Le Lion... not getting the 200 ml bottle of Le Lion is the biggest mistake of buys over the last few years 😂
@@RamseytheRam I’ve only sniffed Le Lion on paper and the blotter was nuclear strength for days! Was surprised how animalic labdinum can be, I’m sure it’s a grower. I’d live to get samples of all the exclusifs but not sure where to get them.

Oh yes, T.T. really put the B in “suB-tle,” if you know what I mean. They are too beastly for me. I have a decant of Chanel Cuir De Russie edp which I love but can barely smell after 30 min. Need to explore more of the line for sure. I’m still early in my “journey” and am learning a lot from you and this awesome community.
You just sold me on chanel le lion. How close it is to shalimar?
Shalimar is more bergamot / dirty vanilla while Le Lion is more Bergamot & smokey Labdanum with some Bourbon Vanilla to round it out with patchouli... do let me know how you find it 😊
