Decided to read through Euripides’ Phoenician Women to see what exactly Chrysippus was referring to here (Epictetus also references it a bunch of times in the Discourses) and you can see it: the Gods make a prediction (usually in an if-then statement, just like Cicero tells us), the situation pushes the characters in a certain direction, and then in the important moment where they get their one little wiggle in the causal nexus, they throw it away again and again and the predictions come true. A great visual when thinking through Chrysippus’ interesting idea. Ofc for a quick refresher on Chrysippus’ idea itself after reading there’s no better spot than your videos.
