The more I see the Sally the more I'm impressed by her talent. All the actors in that scene were superb. Bravo as it was very relatable and real. Peace.
This is an amazing scene with amazing performances and dialogues. Also it's great to show how we project our insecurities and emotional holes on others... it's all about perspective but we usually forget that, didn't we?
I remember when I was living at my grandparents place & woke up one night at 2am. This movie was on & for some reason I watched it. Since 2011 up til now this movie has stuck with me. I even ordered the blu-ray lol. Love this movie. Sally has a beautiful spirit.
But she comes across as unintentionally condescending, with belittling tones. The way she talked to her driving instructor, where she could've handled better.
I think that was the point of the film to a degree. A person may be likeable and happy go lucky, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t possible for them to miss the mark and hurt somebody else with traits such as those. Not a fault against poppy as such, she remains likeable, but of human relationships and intention.
Sally Hawkins was terrific in this film and should've been nominated for an Oscar....she won both the LA and NY Film Critics Awards for her performance! Another mistake of the Academy not getting something right!
I make it a point to watch this movie once a year, at least. So many funny lines, and once you've met Poppy, you want to visit her time and again. "You want a baby, right" "No thanks, I've just had a kabob"...Rim shot, please!
I think Helen needs to stop worrying about what Poppy and her friends are doing with their lives and focus on herself, her husband and her soon-to-be child.
@@stevegong2134 agree again. Mike leigh is a genius in the art of realism. Being pregnant with a husband's child would bug me if he still played video games like a little kid. But didn't you kinda feel sorry for him that he had to ask in his own house, for five minutes of play station? But then again, he did ask like a child. I think I'm fully on your side. I😀
Great film. I thought that Eddie Marsan was very good as the driving instructor. Plenty of clever, small 'cameo' scenes like the physio, the flamenco teacher and the tramp.

Sally Hawking was so brilliant in this movie!
I enjoy watching these brilliant observations of Mike Leigh over and over!
I love Sally Hawkins character in this film. Her take on life is just so amazing

How was she condescending?

@@simonjames8213 Well, goes to show that nobody's perfect. But she's pretty close.

She should have won the Oscar for best actress
3:15 so many favorite parts in this movie. this one is one of them 😂. it’s just my face!
I love that delivery so much! Ofc, the English denture helps.
I want more of this.
So good! Mike Leigh
sometimes, I feel like I'm Poppy and everyone else is Helen in this scene.
I love this clip💗

So incredible! Sally was brill ❤️

"Not attacking you, Hel."
Or is it Hell?
It's so sad the husband has to beg for five minutes of play station to his pregnant wife. And turned down, in his own house. Mike leigh is a genius.
Perfect example of a control freak.
shes worried because she's about to have a kid and her man hasnt grown up
actually shes worried because no one around her has grown up, its part of the message of the movie
@@stevegong2134 I know. Excellent point. Normal response from a pregnant wife.
