You can't count on the police or the court law system to protect your business from these criminal shoplifters - needs to shut down their shops take all their items out and move to another place that is safe. There should be no special treatment of any criminal shoplifter in jail and what they have done to the innocent business owner - owner lost his goods to make a living. Those criminals are getting away with it and should be jailed with NO BAIL - NO SPECIAL TREATMENT EVEN IF THEY ARE POOR!!!!!! many of us are poor.

I have visited California a number of times in the past, to see family specifically in SF. An amazing city. As a younger person, I even dreamt about living there. As a police officer, I can say many of us don't see the point in making arrests. Many times, we are attacked by our politicians at a local level for enforcing the law. Furthermore, in Washington State, we are supposed to de-escalate and consider walking away instead of making an arrest. To explain what this means, a use of force does not seem worth it for a property crime. We can't purse anymore and we can no longer make a Terry stop unless the suspect agrees. Does the public care? No, they just see the big D. I'm sick of people complaining about law enforcement not doing anything when they make it impossible by voting for clowns.

And i think anyone who injures, abuses, or steals from any other person , business. Or animal should be aprehended , charged and convicted n spend a substantial amount of time removed from society "jail".. we need good police in society to protect people from other people especially women and children which are defensless, and businesses which are livlihoods that if left in the hands of the owners can cause more accidental victims due to protecting that livlihood from thieves.. i think people and family members of victimless criminal punishment have been used and manipulated by government into voting in there favor to pass hidden agendas they want to avoid transparrent discussion of is partly the reason police have been a new tool to sway the voting in there favor.. and i think we need to stand with police and hard working americans everywhere to affirm politicial system leaders and policy makers that reflect how the good people of this amazing country really feel in regards to these issues.

I was physically assaulted 2 years ago by a teenager. The police officer found him hiding in a dumpster, and did paper arrest and he got to go home with dad. I got in the mail a paper that said his punishment was to attend one counseling session. I was his third assault that year.
Moral: If you don't punish people they are going to do it again.

I got punched in the head while in my car at a cross walk, person kicked my car, so $2,500 damage to car and medical bill after insurance took care of their part $5,000 out of pocket. Person that punched me got a paper citation and was let go that same night and til' this day as I know it nothing happened to them besides a stupid citation.

They don't deserve comfort; they deserve hard work and plain conditions. But the abuse should be controlled. Law and order should prevail most in our prisons, and those who improve themselves should get the rewards.
Good point. Prison should be hell on earth, to the point that NOBODY in their right mind would want to go there. Rigidly toughen up the sentencing standards & be sent to a living hell in prison. This just may give aspiring criminals something to think about. This would be a good start in establishing some form of deterency. This, along with strictly supported law enforcement would a go a long way in addressing this looting problem.

Problem with this situation in CA is that the citizens of the great state now are leaving in droves only to spread their ideology. What’s wrong with this picture ? Walgreens closes 20 stores and now the warped thinking of the Californians is ‘Oh the stores are closing because Walgreens has to many stores and it’s and economic strategy.’ Ok one major problem with that thinking Walgreens has just as many stores in my city and have not seen one closure. Contrary closings that do happen are because they built a bigger store in the same area.
