He nailed it! I can't criticize this video! I am just about to confer the title of 'Shoe Dog" to Rose Anvil. The direct attached construction is when two polymers (Polyol & Isocyanate) in liquid form are mixed and poured into a mold and they thermoset to the shape of the mold. Also, keep in mind, ALL Chelsea waterproof boots are waterproof ONLY to the lowest part of the Gore (elastic) line. Water will seep in if you stand in water above the lowest gore line. TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane) has a very high abrasion and even that light skin which forms the outer sole shell will last a very long time. Drawback of TPU - the colder it gets, the harder the TPU gets and becomes very slippery. The Swenflex material will surprise it, it is very puncture resistant and made in Ontario, Canada. Please put a nail in a 2 by 4 and try to push the Swenflex thru it. You will see what I mean.

Raised my foot and there’s a piece of plywood attached. Lovely. Insult to injury, these supposedly “tough” boots had air filled soles, so no they were flat and totally unusable. Forget Redbacks.

I actually had a pair of those Ariats and I loved them. Wore them everyday practically. The annoying part was finding out there was no way to fix the side elastics once they get fucked up.

Ariat won't replace them? I don't believe this is a resolable boot, either is it?

can you review Thursday's explorer boot? it is $249, storm-welted, and has a steel shank. I plan on buying a pair next month and I want to see how you rate it's craftsmanship!

I'm a groundskeeper and have the same reservations. But every year our crew gets a stipend towards new boots, this year was notable when our boss and another guy picked up Ariat slip-on cowboy style work boots. Apparently after a couple of weeks when they're broken in, my coworkers swear that the foot doesn't slip around as much as during the initial try-on. I think fitting them in person also really helps, as some people are more comfortable with a half size down in Chelseas.
Now that Weston has reviewed this moderately priced pair, I'm pretty torn between these and the Thursday Chelseas for outside of work.

Pull on work boots have to be sized correctly for a pull on. When you first get a pull on boot you want it really snug and also true to size. You shouldn't buy pull on boots with any extra room...you want them tight. The first few weeks of break in will be a little rough, but man let me tell you. Once you get a set of pull ons that fit right broke in good, you won't go back. I made the switch 10yrs ago and don't miss tie ups one bit‼️

This was very interesting. It’s almost like Ariat remembers that it’s footwear is part of a workwear brand. While we’d all like them to be made closer to home I get the impression that at least Ariat takes the time to spec out work boots for their Chinese manufacturer to make. The Carhartt...thing just makes it look like they don’t care if the product description even matches the description let alone lives up to any hype.

Because it is a full grain leather that is buffed to make it like a nubuck, what would you do for cleaning/conditioning? Would you saddle soap and bick 4 afterwards or would you use a suede foaming cleaner and then a waterproofing suede spray once they are dry? I have the new USA assembled model and I’m loving them just not sure which route to go for cleaning.
