Aromatase is a real vicious thing. When I was doing supplemental testosterone for low levels, I was using possibly too much, and ended up having backlash estrogen as a result of the seroconversion effect. Which took a year or so to balance out when I could no longer handle doing the shots.
hey dade, first i wish you all the best for the upcoming big steps!second:one of many reasons why estrogen-levels can rise after a while,or stand high from the beginning is,when your dose of T is to high, then your bodyfat will "recycle" it to estrogen. another reason can be that T is not in all cases able to shut the complex female system down. There are so many diff. hormones and gestagens,so T is just one stone in a house which works for many but not for all!best wishes from germany --> leon
Dade - major props for your courage and honesty in all these vids. Sending all my best hopes for a successful surgery and for great things in life for you and your family.
My best to you, Dade! My 11 y.o. son is entering middle school as a male this year. Blockers, etc. are next. Watching your videos help ease my worries about the physical changes he will experience. I'm a mom, so I worry about doing anything to hurt my child...I don't want to make decisions that will be damaging to his overall health and well being. But his sense of self and mental health are so important.....anyway, thanks. I wish you an easy time with the surgery & recovery. Blessings...
I've read somewhere that taking a lot of T can convert intro estrogen if it's in large quantity.. I hope you get the progress you need Dade. Stay strong
It is really my pleasure. This community is awesome and has been such a support to me, it's only right for me to do whatever I can to pay it forward. Thanks for the kind comment!
Dade - just wanted to say props to you for the courage to make it to where you are today! also, glad that you have made the decision to continue the process. You are you and do not let anyone get you down. Grab the energy you need from deep within and push forward. You have come way to far to get tired, weak and drained now.. You got this!
Try to keep your spirits up Dade - just think what you have accomplished so far! And I will be keeping you in my prayers that everything goes just fine! Hope the Mrs. is ok and the little one!! You hang in there!!
Best wishes Dade. Good luck on your surgery. You will do great and it will be such a relief. (coming from a woman who had one 7 months ago LOL!) I admire you and love to hear about your journey. Smooch that beautiful baby!
I had a laparoscopic hysterectomy many moons ago and it was uneventful. I had the nurse pull-out the morphine drip and I felt MUCH better. No pain. You are in great shape physically/mentally. You'll be fine and able to check another one off of your transition " to do" list. Bless you, my Brother!
Dade thank you for sharing and I hope you continue to do so as you progress in your transition. I hope your upcoming surgeries go smoothly and that your recovery is quick and easy.
Thanks, dude for the wonderful update. Its always nice to see that you had made a new video..helping and informing the rest of us. And congrats on your surgery that's coming up. Hope the wifey and baby are doing wonderful as well.
Good to see an update! If you ever feel like doing it, a video about the future aspects of your transitioning would be great. Like how you see yourself in 10-20 and stuff like that..
Praying for you with your surgery next month & the recovery period, and that together you and Tiffany will deftly cope w/ any extra challenges that result. Hope all goes well! :)
hey dade, i've been watching your videos for quite sometime and it's really motivating me to not be scared to be who i really want to be. just wanted to say thanks :D
Glad I finally came across your account again after over 10 years now. Back before I came out. I won't lie I was a bit jealous how masculine you looked from the start. But overall you inspired me a lot. Been almost 6 years on T now. While the hair growth is going crazy 😆 Unfortunately I've had little voice change and fat redistribution hasn't seemed to fully change too much. I was feeling upset & defeated thinking that's just how I'll always be, that I'll never be more masculine sounding & presenting as I'd like. A couple months ago tho, I got my bloodwork done to find out my T levels were very low, next bloodwork 2 weeks later it was even lower (Pretty much back into female range & I even had a very light period for a day or 2). Which is odd because I've been on the same dose for a long while and it used to be at a good level. My dose recently got upped a couple months ago to the max they can prescribe to me. Waiting to see the results next bloodwork in less than a month. Glad to see I'm not alone with this issue. I'm not entirely sure why this happened. I've considered maybe my body felt the need to combat the testosterone, or if it was for some reason converting into estrogen. Maybe I got faulty T? I tried to look into any food that could affect it that I was eating. I've started using protein powder and just recently started taking vitamin D, and exercising a bit more. All things apparently that help boost testosterone. Either way, I'm just gonna have to wait & see. Thank you for the mentioning of the blockers. If it persists or occurs again, I'll be sure to bring it up. I am hoping for hysto eventually too tho.
For me, it’s been nearly 12 years and I still feel like my dose needs to be constantly monitored. I think it just may be a reality of HRT. Also, fat redistribution does not always happen on its own - I feel like this may be particularly true for people who transition older. I had to get lipo to get where I wanted to be with my fat distribution. In any case, it’s a long process! Sounds like you are getting though it. 🙂
@@ElectricDade Sounds like it. I mean, our bodies do keep changing throughout the years. So it doesn't surprise me. That definitely could be a possibility. I started around 23. I've been meaning to look up workouts to potentially help target areas to help with it as much as I can. But good to know there is another option available far down the road if all else fails. It definitely is. But the journey is worth it. Each day I'm closer to becoming myself as I always felt I was. Really glad to see how far you've come btw & hope all's going well.
Speaking as a woman I know estrogenic dominance is often a sign of perimenopause, this can cause a series of things from heavy periods to painful ovarian cysts. Progesterone is prescribed to counterbalance the hormonal imbalance. The duration of perimenopause varies from woman to woman. Anyway, you are having surgery next month and that'll be it! Tell Tiff to keep us up posted. Best wishes. x
I hope your recovery goes well! Hysterectomy is a huge priority for me (especially for the oophorectomy). I'm frightened by the recovery process, though.
The best way to find out is to google it... but in short - Meta uses your existing genital tissue to form a phallus. Phallo uses skin from either your forearm or thigh to form a larger phallus.
Hey Dade....I'm glad to see a video from you, brother! I'm glad you're doing well and it appears that you've made some big decisions, too! Congrats! I, personally, want the "bottom" surgery. I am a guy so I should have guy parts, right? Most FTM's choose not to do it and that's their situation. But, don't let anyone else tell you that it's a waste if you truly believe that it's not. We are here for you!! Stay strong! Keep us updated, too.
I watched this video back when you originally posted it, but I wanted to comment because now I am suddenly going through this issue. I have been on T for 4 years now. When I started T, I had high E levels, but then they leveled out a couple months later. Suddenly now, 4 years later, my E levels have skyrocketed to actually scary levels. We don't know what is going on. I have some tests scheduled, so hopefully that gives me some answers. If we discover something, I'll share!
I do remember you telling me that. That's a good point - maybe a lot of us aren't getting E levels checked. I really do hope that the hysto helps, though.
Dade as a transguy I get only too well that you may not want a gynacology appt. I encourage you to watch the do Co southern comfort. At the least mate make sure you tell them when they do the hysto about the abnormal results because chemo and stuff isn't something you want to threaten your life with. Your bravery inspired me to start my journey and you mean too much to your family to not get the health check ups you need. Much respect buddy
I think it's because your body got used to it. Body builders cycle testosterone to avoid this problem. Best of luck with your surgeries, I am sure you'll lose that fat really quick, just focus on recovering!
Dade, you helped me so much, you've made me feel comfortable in my own skin! I'm a transguy, and your videos help me, because I learned more about being transgender! Thank you so much!
Dade you're amazing and I miss seeing videos of you. Make more please, because you are truly inspiring! And this is coming from a straight female lol love you! Oh and your family and you are truly beautiful!
Good luck with your hysto. Are you going to have the regular surgery or the laproscopic variety? Hormone levels should stabalize at some level after the hysto and the risk of cervical cancer will no longer be an item of concern. "Skylarkeleven" had the laproscopic variety and he was pleased . The recovery process as documented in his videos was mild and fast and his scars are almost nonexistent.. Cheers!
Metoidioplasty and Phalloplasty. They are different options for transmen who want lower surgery. The point of both is to have more anatomically correct male genitalia.
My gf showed me your very first video and I have been hooked on you and your videos for a very long time now... I'm not transgender but I love seeing the transformation in your life.. don't get me wrong I have thought about it. But I have an 7 yr old little girl and I don't think she would understand. I am 30 turning 31 on friday.. and I guess you could say I'm kinda stuck on the fence about this subject... but good luck with everything. Keep updating all of us.. I would like to get in touch
thanks! no meat, no fried stuff, no butter, eggs rarely, tons of milk products, but low-fat, full-grain stuff, lots of fruits and vegetables. oh and I drink loads of soda- that's my main guilty pleasure. my diet doesn't have to do with body goals, but health(I watch my liver and ASL/ALT levels very carefully because T and other meds up those).
Thank you for the thought. I did know that food can affect your levels and have been avoiding those things. At this point I think the answer is surgery.
Interesting. I also have wondered if my T dose is too high. The problem is that I have been on the same dose for over a year and have just suddenly started to have a problem. Strange.
I'm going thru the same situation. My t levels are 314 and estraidol is 77! My doc wants to lower my dose. He never said anything about estrogen blockers. I seem to be losing my leg and arm hair. I take sub q injections. Once a week. 0.5. Of 100mg I been on T for 10 years exactly.
I don't remember if I told you this or not but I have high estrogen post hysto. It's weird man. Last time I was tested was approx. a year post op and my estrogen levels were at the highest end of a male range. No clue why. Also, my doctor only started looking at my estrogen levels when I requested it when I knew I was getting a hysto. She usually does not check estrogen levels and I'm not sure if most doctors do or not. So maybe people have similar experiences without knowing.
I know that I'm coming into the conversation REALLY late...lol, but...I think Chase Ross experienced some of the same problems with his hormone levels. (He has lots of FtM videos too.) I know this is probably too late to be of any interest...but I might as well put it out there in case you're interested. 😊
wish you all the best dade, good luck for next week. everything will be fine. take some fannel tee with you, if they do it laparoscopically. will help you a little.
My only concern dade is that you make sure you are checked for cysts or tumors to ensure you don't have something that's secreting its own hormone source.
Good Luck with your Hysterectomy, Dade! Thanks for posting this. It's so informative and personal and interesting to hear for you. What's the second surgery you said you were getting in april? Hope your wife and Zane are well!
Also interested as to why the metio over the phallo... Apologies if that is too personal a question. I'm much further behind in my transition than you... 7 weeks on t and counting
I know what you mean. Honestly, it's irresponsible of me to not find out what's going on before having the surgery. But I can't bring myself to go to a gyno. I've never been to one and I can force myself to do it - for a variety of reasons.
I chose meta because the recovery time is less and it's less expensive. I would probably be happier with phallo in the long run but I can't fit the long recovery time and multiple surgeries into my life right now.
You know - I'm not sure what my experience will be when it comes to menopause. Just being on testosterone put me into menopause early into my transition, but it seems logical that I would have more of those symptoms once I have the ovaries removed. Thanks for the kind wishes!
After couple days of stopping the estrogen blockers my period came back!!! The last time I had my period when I was just about 3 months on T. My doctor then realized that my T dose is high and most of it flips to estrogen. Body builders also face the same prob when using steroids (testosterone). I am currently on 200ml every other week and my estrogen levels are within the male range!
I feel like that would be too much fro my body to handle. A lot of complications happen when your body has too much to heal at once. I do not want complications with either surgery. This stuff is serious, more so then top surgery. If something goes wrong... plumbing doesn't work.
Really like your videos! I stumbled on them on accident over a year ago and continue to watch. I'm sure you give a lot of people inspiration. Ok I'm a male taking testosterone and I was curious what you Dr wants your test level to be? I take the same amount you are and I am at 902. Just wondering what you got yours up to. Take care and keep on steppin!
I'm with Chase on this one. Your t dose might be too high. It happens to bodybuilders who use t as well. Worth considering tho. My doctors say to check both levels of t and my friends say that even those doctors should check other levels too but I don't know what they mean. I thought there were only two.
I'm coming up on 3 yrs. Oct. 10th w/ spotting issues for 2 + yrs. I'm still trying to find answers to that and my Dr. doesn't want to do anything but send me in for more tests. I've had about 6 tests that came back negative for everything, still spotting and still my Dr. does not want me to start estrogen blockers. Explanation - Estrogen levels are normal other Drs. Explanation - Estrogen levels too high for me. I’m at a loss and give up trying. It’s just a setback I have to deal w/ every day.
I can totally relate! The only difference is that my estrogen levels were way too low and I didn't have that much of excess fat. However, as I was on T I've gained a lot of weight and I was confused because it was mostly fat. So, I asked my doctor to check my estrogen levels and they went up like crazy. The next step was obviously estrogen blockers, I used them for 3 months and then I ran out of them. (cont)
I know this is an old video, but have you considered your high estrogen levels might have been due to the fairly high testosterone dose? People mention how if you shock your body with a lot of T it can sometimes change it into estrogen, so that might be why.
I did consider that. My T and E levels are checked regularly, though. I know that wasn't the problem. Honestly, I'm still not sure what was... it went away on its own.
Hello dade! Am a french lesbian and i watch every videos of u and ur beautiful family! You' re so brave! I doń´t underdtand what you're saying at 2'15... What did u noticed? ( sorry I am french ^^) best wishes and good luck for you' re surgery! Kiss from France!
Please read the book "Fat Chance" by Dr. Robert Lustig. He's got an entire chapter devoted to all the foods and environmental factors & chemicals that are filled with estrogens that keep us fat. Even certain bath gels are made with plant estrogens!!! He really goes into the biochemistry of the body. The Anti-Estrogen Diet: How Estrogenic Foods and Chemicals Are Making You Fat and Sick is also another great book. Let me know if this helps you as it did help me. [PS - Your baby is so adorable!]
dade you will be fine with the hysterectomy I had one at age 38 just make sure you do what they say after wards so that you don't hurt yourself. I broke the rules a little while my wife was at work and when she came home , I was in trouble. I just started my t shots my doctor put me on half cc every 2 weeks what are you on now if you don't mind me asking. I don't think im taking enough because I really fill like I hit bottom on the second week.
Hey I've seen a video on a transmen having trouble with yeast infection and uti due to being on T .. are you experiencing the same thing ? Are you healthy in your bottom area ? PLEAS ANSWER I'm really thinking about going on t and these type of things kinda scare me
Some guys have problems with that; I remember getting at least one uti after starting testosterone (I'm not sure if that was the cause, however) But although utis are painful and yeast infections are annoying, I don't think either of them are actually dangerous so long as they're treated.
Did the estrogen blockers (or hysterectomy) ever help you with fat redistribution? I'm a year on T with no fat redistribution at all (I've actually gained fat on my hips/ass : / ), and I'm just figuring out that that could possibly be because my estrogen levels are too high, since I learned that women after menopause essentially experience fat redistribution to a masculine pattern after their estrogen levels go down. My T levels are in a normal male range, but I've never had my estrogen levels checked, so I have no idea what they are. I've been so frustrated for so long, it would be amazing if I could finally know just WHY my body hasn't gotten the message yet that it's supposed to be storing fat differently.
BowlMasterAsh I know how frustrating this is, my friend. I'm almost 4 years on T and am still waiting for all my fat to redistribute. I'm not sure why it takes so long for some of us. Don't give up, just l keep doing whatever you can to be fit and healthy.
Want to thank you for sharing your life with us and being as open as you are about something so private, it takes a special kind of person .
With his indomitable spirit and resolve I think this man is inspiring and handsome. I wish all the very best to him and his future.

congratulations on booking the surgeries, especially metoidioplasty- that's a big step! waiting for my hysto to happen right now as well.

Awesome pep talk - thank you! You are right.
I'm getting one next month. I think that will help.
Taking testosterone forces your body into male puberty - thus giving you male secondary sex characteristics such as muscle mass and facial/body hair.
1100 dang brother your like a 19yo they told me I was high at 902!! But he said that was good and keep doing what im doing!!
Youre amazing bro!
I looked back at my paperwork and I was wrong - the levels were around 900. Still high, though. I have lowered my dose slightly.
I'm with Chase on this one. Your t dose might be too high. It happens to bodybuilders who use t as well. Worth considering tho. My doctors say to check both levels of t and my friends say that even those doctors should check other levels too but I don't know what they mean. I thought there were only two.
Right now my levels are all messed up, but when they were stable my T level was near 1100. Thanks for watching man!
It’s just a setback I have to deal w/ every day.
so brave and so handsome!
(cont)
How did the estrogen blockers make you feel?More masculine?
I know this is an old video, but have you considered your high estrogen levels might have been due to the fairly high testosterone dose? People mention how if you shock your body with a lot of T it can sometimes change it into estrogen, so that might be why.
I did consider that. My T and E levels are checked regularly, though. I know that wasn't the problem. Honestly, I'm still not sure what was... it went away on its own.
Ohmigod, it's today! How exciting! :D
Good luck : )
[PS - Your baby is so adorable!]
dade you will be fine with the hysterectomy I had one at age 38 just make sure you do what they say after
wards so that you don't hurt yourself. I broke the rules a little while my wife was at work and when she came home , I was in trouble. I just started my t shots my doctor put me on half cc every 2 weeks what are you on now if you don't mind me asking. I don't think im taking enough because I really fill like I hit bottom on the second week.
4 days, wow! Congratulations. What type are you getting?
Thanks! I have to tell you dude, your body is like that of a Greek God... can I ask what your diet is like?
Hey I've seen a video on a transmen having trouble with yeast infection and uti due to being on T .. are you experiencing the same thing ? Are you healthy in your bottom area ? PLEAS ANSWER I'm really thinking about going on t and these type of things kinda scare me
Coolest Breathn I never had any lower area issues, but I know it is a common problem from the T throwing of the pH balance down there.
How did you manage to not have to deal with those issues if you don't mind me asking
Some guys have problems with that; I remember getting at least one uti after starting testosterone (I'm not sure if that was the cause, however)
But although utis are painful and yeast infections are annoying, I don't think either of them are actually dangerous so long as they're treated.
What's the name of the substance?
Whats the difference?
Yup it happened to me my estrogen levels went sky high just out of the blue making me moody
Take a look at my one year on testosterone video. There is a side by side comparison.
Thank you!
Who are you going to for your meta?
Wow! It's gonna sound weird! I'm a MTF but I find you attractive and very good looking man!
Dr. Crane in SF.
Sorry if the comment was confusing this is my first touch screen phone with auto correct that hates me
Bro I was thinking about getting on estrogen blockers you think I should ?
