Doki is actually the archetype of player I struggle with the most. They're just having a GREAT TIME doing RANDOM ASS SHIT, cackling. And me, a new player legitimately trying to be better just gets smoked because you can't read an empty book. But spectating it from the 3rd person? Greatest time of my life.
Those players are hard to deal with at first, yet they are not an empty book. You can learn to read them if you don't treat them like one. Gotta change your model of what's supposed to be happening to fit your opponent.
Against players like doki i just go on the defensive and make them play the game i want them to play. Like, i play Ryu, so i just start zoning them. Sooner or later they will start to close to gap with jumping through the hadokens. When they are close enough i shoryuken them. Or they parry it, i start closing the gap and when i’m close enough i just rush at them and put them in a throw loop. Etc. Is it boring as all hell? Yeah, but i rather win like this than to try to outrandom them and just piss myself off and lose.
