I have the Darwin on my wishlist. It'll be a while, but I'll get it.
Thanks for a wonderful video! I'm sure you've sparked a lot of interest in your subscribers to check out more geology and chemistry. It's good stuff!
P.S. the silvery swirly trailing & whistling fireworks have always been my favorite. They're pretty rare these days, though. Everyone wants the smiley face and hearts. (Old school fireworks are still better)

Witherite or bariumcarbonate for green color.
Strontianite for red en purple colour.
Stibnite or antimoney for white glitter effects and in flash comps.
Realgar or arsenicsulfide for white effects(oldschool).
Celestine or strontiumsulfate for red strobes/glitter.
Hematite or iron oxide for glitter and thermite .
Malachite or coppercarbonate for blue and purple.
Other minerals have to be chemically reduced to its elemental state for use in firework compositions.
Like aluminium, magnesium, titanium from their ores.

    Fun trivia:
There's an episode of Star Trek where capt Kirk gathers those ingredients to make a thing to kill a monster creature.
The pyrotechnics guy from greeley Co retired. My teen says it would be quite an interesting career. Probably lucrative and fun 😂

Sodium lamps usually have that weird orange glow as well... good for low power usage but not great for sight 😅
I was always partial to the tadpole kinda fireworks, and the radio static/crackly ones.

This is so cool. Beautiful minerals making beautiful fireworks. Love this. Also put that Darwin on my wishlist, didn’t realize it was so affordable.

      @mooneyfinemineral  2 месяца назад +3

Affordability is a HUGE part of why I love it. It's very affordable for what you get. Will it do what $40,000 lab grade microscopes do? Not entirely. Will it do what a lot of $400 and $500 microscopes do, but better and portable? Yep.

Hey guys, on the lines of a safe 4th, please remember fireworks are an extremely stressful event for pets livestock, and wildlife. Especially dogs.
I respectfully suggest going to a community fireworks show and not doing on yourself. Even if you don't have pets, you probably have a neighbor that would be grateful you don't set any off. At least, not any with loud bangs.
