This season was all about Ryosuke for me. The project D aces really took a back seat both from the story and character/driver development perspective. The Project D battles lacked tension and they won too easily. The stand out moment for me was Ryosuke and Ikeda saving Hojo with the breaking team work and the subsequent closing of Ryosuke/Rin's grief/guilt driven fued.
Potentially unpopular opinion: I like Initial D, don't get me wrong, but this fifth stage was boring for the most part. Considering the parts that had me the most interested were the moments when nobody was racing, people were talking and story was... happening. The races were too drawn out and not much went on in them other than people turning corners in varying ways for like 5 long minutes at a time with little dialogue.
@@Horus4387 The Grim Reaper race was the only really interesting race in the whole stage, and only because of zero's ability to actually speak through the race, the heart-to-heart commentary between Ryosuke and the Grim Reaper part way into the race, and the way it ended. But mostly because it was an un-common glimpse into Ryosuke's racing ability. Something I wish there was more of.
The race against the supra was so lame for me, it was normal and then the supra driver says something, activates his aura like "im going all out" but just touches his back bumper and says "i lost"
Its the grip of his tyres since supra is a much heavier car than the FD. Also, he goes all out for keisuke to make a mistake as he panics at the crucial moment. But that clearly didn't work out

it's amazing how much better the CGI looks compared to the first season. Even though the shots themselves are mostly the same, the extra detail and clarity make it so much more visceral.
I agree that 5th stage isn’t the best stage but I really enjoyed all the stages and 5th stage had the aura stuff which I can see put a lot of people off but that’s just because all the characters racing in 5th stage are around the level of pro racers and so the aura was to convey the fact that they are no longer normal street racers they are advanced racers and to be honest when I see someone going real fast in racing I can feel something resonate within me and I guess that the way they convey that feeling is through aura because we can’t really feel how fast they are going because they are in an anime so I think they use aura to convey that feeling.

I see it as subjective experience of seeing your own pace against your opponent. I kind of get almost the same feeling if I'm karting and I'm behind someone who is just quicker and they seem to get away, no matter how fast i try - they just seem to disappear around the corner.

Most found this stage boring, because the fights weren't very action packed, but here's the thing, just because a track has locals doesn't mean their going to be a challenge, think about the Speed Stars vs the Redsuns before Takumi shows up, In my opinion this stage is more realistic.
