My son is 3 years 6 months now. When he was hardly 15 months he randomly picked a 100 gm makhana packet from a store. His fascination for makhana started from that very day and till today he is crazy for it. Even when he is unwell he rejects every other food item but makhana is a big YES for him.
Contribution of Vidya nath Jha sir in development and conservation of ponds, makhana, fisheries and plantation will always be remembered I have watched his contribution and awareness program when I was students in mlsm college
This is international price that is set by either the export person or middle man second thing makhana cultivation is very difficult process and the fishermen from North Bihar hasn't that much source of income. In this country where there is subsidy on many grains and other thing then why not on makhana which is cultivated by these fishermen and not to forget 90% makhana comes from same area of India.
@@alokranjan2713 + Intl.markets tends to fluctuate more & also has more safety regulations to be followed acc to APEDA. Msp should be indeed applied to this crop.
selling price in international market is different thing.its not sold by farmers in international market it's all traders. farmers are likely to benefit from high prices. There should be msp so that middle men wont exploit the farmers. As india is a very exploiting oriented country.
While cultivators earn negligible the profit is reaped by the end sellers and packagers. This distortion in profit across the supply chain needs to be addressed.
MSP can only be a solution for the short term but for sustainability in the long term what is needed is value addition at the local level itself and creation of FPOs and cooperatives owned by the farmers themselves, So that the role of middle man can be minimised and farmers can be empowered....without depending on the government for MSP.
First of all Mithila region of Bihar produces 90% of it and we Maithils call it "Makhaan" and i personally feel awkward when whole country calls it Makhana makhana ...jist like yhey made Ram -Rama , krishna- krishnaa , Ved - veda , Dharm - Dharma

but how much co2 emmisions will be there raising so many chickens and what about the exploitation of innocent birds , what about the environmental pollution from their feces and what about deadly diseases like bird flu?
It's not a food of poor. It's a food for middle class and rich . But it is grown by Poor PPL. It is fried in desi ghee with red salt and eaten during fasts . Atleast in North India where vegetarianism is high its high in demand . Also it's anti oxidant prpoerties r better than egg. If we r talking only with the POV of nutrition, naturally Egg and meat of cattle is most cheap and easy for PPL . But in North PPL don't eat meat ot if they eat , they eat it in lowe frequency and with guilt . Getting same amount of nutrition from vegetarian food as Non veg is 10 times more expensive. Also vegetarian diet has only Milk and dairy which has higher protien than Carbs. Every other Veg food has more carbs than protien . But veg food r better for climate , biodiversity and animals don't suffer the brtual cruelty we impose in them just to eat them . I eat eggs but I m againt meat. Also farmers who raise cattle for milk shd be forced to raise the cattle for 10 years atleast after that Humane slaughter developed by temple grandin can be used.
Thanks to both Bihar and Central government's for super food. 😊❤
The officer in torned and unpressed shirt and cap, will be enlightened. Salute to such humble people
