I'd love to visit someone who has a pet fox, just so I could pet them once in awhile. I had a friend who had a pet skunk when I was a kid back in Nebraska, his father was a farmer out by Blue Hill who found a baby skunk in a ditch half-drowned & saved it. His son took care of it & raised it to an adult. When they figured out they were going to keep him, they had him deodorized. His name was Pierre, because my friend thought all skunks should have French names from the Warner Brothers cartoons. Plus it also sounded like pee-yoo.

To add further, foxes are NOT like dogs or housecats. They require firm training and their instincts are far stronger than those of domesticated pets. Foxes do not make good pets at the best of times, for someone without any real pet experience, they are a complete nightmare.

That is the best time for them to find food and avoid people etc. You might not have many in your area or where you go outdoors. They are very quick when they move or maybe you need to roam in the outdoors more at night time. lol Best place to see them is where the food source might be for them.
Mav F I used to have a houseboat, and would tie up on a long point and fish. Those little critters would come right on the boat and steal my bait at night. I thought it was river otters or maybe crows, or raccoons, but one day I saw their muddy tracks on my catwalks. I never got to see him though. I saw one about 5 miles from my home years ago in a park in broad daylight. That animal must have gone 40 pounds. It was in full winter coat, prime health, and about as beautiful a thing as I have ever seen. That was 5 seconds I'll remember thereat of my life..

How do you get a Fox? I wanna get one when I get older. I’d prefer a hurt one from a shelter to well... adopt it and give it a new life but I don’t know how.

To add further, foxes are NOT like dogs or housecats. They require firm training and their instincts are far stronger than those of domesticated pets. Foxes do not make good pets at the best of times, for someone without any real pet experience, they are a complete nightmare.

I'm n avid outdoorsman and I've only seen 4 or 5 in the wild. I've never seen one killed on the road, and I see coyotes a the time. They must be much smarter, r maybe just so few of them. They are absolutely beautiful, especially the Red Fox.
crusty old fart - Ever heard the saying "Sly as a Fox" and yes they are sly critters. You might see them very rarely in the day time, but will see them a lot more in the night time. That is the best time for them to find food and avoid people etc. You might not have many in your area or where you go outdoors. They are very quick when they move or maybe you need to roam in the outdoors more at night time. lol Best place to see them is where the food source might be for them.
Mav F I used to have a houseboat, and would tie up on a long point and fish. Those little critters would come right on the boat and steal my bait at night. I thought it was river otters or maybe crows, or raccoons, but one day I saw their muddy tracks on my catwalks. I never got to see him though. I saw one about 5 miles from my home years ago in a park in broad daylight. That animal must have gone 40 pounds. It was in full winter coat, prime health, and about as beautiful a thing as I have ever seen. That was 5 seconds I'll remember thereat of my life..
crusty old fart - Well he must have been the best Sly Fox around with good food to look that good. The wild foxes should never be approached, as their bites are a lot worst then their bark. Seriously. I guess I had a lucky childhood, I grew up on a farm with many wildlife around me, had a couple as pets too, well kind of pets, eg Emu, Kangaroos and deers and then all the basic types, eg dog, cat, fish, turtle, fish, cows, sheep, horses etc. Its nice to see animals doing their thing in the wild etc.

depending on where you live , you can get one (legally speaking) that's domesticated. there is an experiment in Russia that's breeding them for domestication, and they will sell them as pets (their expensive as f*** though)
