- Today I rode out with snapper on my mind. It was a great adventure. Came across some dolphin, had a encounter with the FWC, caught some snapper, saw something weird on a fish, hung out with a manatee and cooked up a great dinner!

In this video:
You heard that right. This is a catch n cook episode. I went fishing for mangrove snapper and indeed that's what I caught. It's been about a week since eating fresh fish from the last deep dropping catch and cook video so I was desperate to catch some good fish.
I also caught a schoolmaster, which is a type of snapper and it had a very strange growth on it. Check it out and let me know if you can identify whatever strange things was growing on that snapper.
The FWC, Florida fish and wildlife conservation came up to my boat to see what I was doing. Sure enough I wasn't doing anything strange hah. They didn't ask to go through my things or anything and left me alone. In fact, the FWC complimented my boat which made me pretty happy.
Overall I caught tons of small mangrove snappers. And i'm sure you can guess but they were caught in the mangroves. It wasn't my best day of fishing ever but it was still a great time.
The catch n cook is at the end of the video. I cook the snapper whole and it turned out great!
Thanks for watching and if you enjoyed this video be sure to hit the like button and subscribe to my channel. I'm working hard to bring you guys some good content! Хобби
Heiko: " Don't tell your friends what you saw here"....
Fish: "let me go and I won't say a word!".
Dude your excitement over fishing is the best. Glad you are sharing!!
Great video I love most that you film the entire trip showing things live as they happen. Gives us all a real look into what things happen, how you adjust and change things up use different baits live and dead. All the way to getting back at dock and cleaning and cooking your catch. I find it all very refreshing and different to all the fishing videos out there. Keep up the great work. I have a suggestion to add to your film segment. Do one on boating. How to pull into your dock bow or stern side first, when you would do each. How you do and tie those crossed lines to keep boat straight while tied at dock. Things like approaching marina at fuel dock. Things many of us take for granted but would be nice to refresh on. As well as for new boat owners just starting out.
Great video mate and the manatee at the end was wicked!! Good skills 👌👍👏
“Ok, so now I’ve got my GoPro strapped on my chest like a real tool” 😂😂😂
Best part of the whole video xD
I fish that marker 52 almost every weekend. The only way to get big snapper is to get way behind the chum line. Snapper bait like you were offshore. There is Snook and Tarpon on the other side of that little channel. Enjoy!
I’m going to the keys this summer and I’m so excited 😆, I honestly can’t wait! Thanks for the tips to catch those little fighters 😂
the excitement is real 😂😂
yea lol. I can get pretty excited over small fish. Today i'm running out to a secret spot I found diving the other day loaded with MONSTER snapper. Hopefully I can put some fattys on the boat and not these tiny ones.
honestly this was very enjoyable to watch. you are hilarious man xD
TBH your really entertaining and fun to watch
Love seeing you get so giddy when you hook one!!
Nice channel.. feels like I am on the boat fishing with you.. Thumbs up from Montreal
Great video as usual! FYI, I would trim the motor up and back off on the throttle to 4000 rpms, or yet less. Make the motor last by not always hammering it to 5000+ rpms. Be safe and tight lines on the water sir.
Pretty glad to find your channel love the vids
Thanks Mike
I skipped all the way to the cook section after realizing the video was too much. I initially criticized you pan frying the fish whole like that, but in the end, it looked quite good! Good job, I'll try it!
The wind mix worked pretty damn good considering full throttle two stroke center console. I was able to hear you fine. Reality of it all plays well to me. I just got hooked on your channel, you have a real set of balls going to the ledge wit a single engine two stroke that want running right the day before to go sword fishing huge respect.
I grew up there fished all those areas love that boat with the cabin in it that is awesome if a storm came up you would have shelter .so many times I was caught in brutal thunder storms good video keepm coming
Yea it's a nice little safe spot. I've never used it but my girlfriend will go in there during a storm sometimes while I drive the boat
South Florida Fishing Channel if I actually purchase the next key largo I'm trying to get.im gonna yank the old console and set it up just like your boat,if possible...
sweet man make sure you send me pics if you do!
Love these long vids
Great job getting out i fish on the Atlantic side south of Ocean Reef and north on John Pennekamp and the pilchards ars all over the place. FYI when you go out snapper fishing hit up big docks i get some of the biggest snappers under them all day everyday its guaranteed try it youll remember me they love overhead structure.
I'm going to try that out. I'll make a video where I just hit up docks. Do you prefer docks on the gulf side or the atlantic side? I always run out of tavernier creek. I can go out pennekamp thou too, it's about the same distance for me.
South Florida Fishing Channel on the Atlantic side is fire when you come out John Pennekamp going youll run into one there and the monsters under that one are incredible but you got to hit them with live bait try your best to find the pilchards look for the Pelicans ull be just fine .
thanks for the tips man i'll have to give it a go
Man this is life... I live in Atlanta .....but I know I'll eventually make my way to Florida.. getting my boat money now
Great job. We have a slip next to where you were and fish the same spots. I find that if you can get your bait to run under the ledges under the mangroves, the bigger snapper hang out there..
thx for the tip. I'll be heading out to the patch reefs tomorrow
I’m waiting for the day you get a new boat I’ve watched most of your videos and I hate to see you have boat problems when it’s a perfect day
I love your excitement and enthusiasm! I can remember those days in my youth. Thanks!
Thanks Karen!
Richard from Sacramento, CA new mike sounds great. When freezing tuna, freeze it in whole milk, thaw drain, good for long time, meat stays firm and fresh tasting. Has to do with lactic acids.. Good for fresh and saltwater. Have used this method on striped bass, tuna, and sturgeon.
interesting. I'll try this out man. Thanks
Your welcome. It works great. Keep on catchin'.
2 more fish, and you might have had a full meal ? I can't believe the FWC didn't ask you to produce a fishing license ??? Maybe because they saw you had a camera recording your outing ? or they weren't doing their job ? I loved seeing the sea cow drinking the fresh water when you were flushing your cooling system ! NOTHING BETTER THAN FRESH FISH !
Great vid 👍
Mr. Winkler, we do not drive a boat we navigate a boat. Happy fishing.
Nice videos 👍🏽🎣
I dig your videos
Learning a lot with your videos since I'm new to fishing from a boat. First step is finding live bait lol
yea live bait can make all the difference. I'm running offshore tomorrow to a secret snapper spot i found while looking for lobster and will need to get lots of live bait before I get out there. Fingers crossed all the mullet are still around
I'll catch you one day on the water. I'm free Monday and Tuesday if you need a second hand on the boat !
Very cool!
Great job
Awesome video
Ok wow thanks I’m gonna have to invest in some, it seems to do the trick for most species of fish that you catch from snapper to sharks lol
oh wait the blue braid line! I thought you meant the blue line on my TLD25. The blue line on this rod is actually this: amzn.to/2zBMspf the 30# one.
hah hah all that & you had angels looking over youre shoulder
Fish full moon at night July august big ones up to 10lbs that's fun
The secret cut a pinfish in chunks stops little ones
nice video
Cool day in the life fishin' vid. Now hungry. Is this Upper Keys? Manatee was tres cool!
I'll try to get some more manatee footage
Works good. Heard everything
Hello from Texas, I am so jealous...lol. Nice video..Hey how did you do that snapping sound when you took a picture of that snapper with the weird growth on it? Thanks! I just dropped a subs.
there's a island there called pelican key. I always catch big snappers there.
Tie off on different points of the bow to shear one way or the other; you probably know that.
That looks good to me
Subscribed and likes keep them coming
Hey love vids. Can you do one for your rig. What motor is it.
My hands would be shredded. You should try using a glove or rag to take them off the hook. Great video!
what size weight were you using?
Good.video.man!
thats a sick boat, how big and what model is it
236cc Key Largo
Dude, could you troll a whole Iguana? I bet that would make insane grouper bait.
I think the free sliding egg weight might have been knocking the hook out of the mouths of the fish you lost.
Yea I think so too, looking back at this video I dunno what I was thinking! lol
home boy exited
Would love to fish with you one day man
Dude eat the glass minos and cook them like you cook fis but onley 3min per scoop and alot o oil
Aww that animal is so cute
Great video. What mph does your boat top out at ?
Thanks.
32-34mph is the max I can get it to by myself depending on conditions. If I get new engine i'll put a 300 or 250hp 4 stroke on it.
South Florida Fishing Channel
That’s sweet. I wish these engines weren’t so damn expensive.
Should have kept a couple more to make up for the $100.00 worth of fuel. I do the same thing just kidding! Fun Video!
great life brother
I'm new to the channel and really appreciate the content. I'm learning a lot and hope to one day buy you a beer to show my appreciation.
I couldn't turn down a beer from a fan =) Cheers!
I'm from Canada, waking up to a nice crisp fresh morning means waking up to -30c. Coffee freezes, goes in ground, I go back in.
Lol
Awesome video man, I can't wait for walleye, and lakers this summer.
Just need to get that damn ice off the lakes.
Where do you get the chum from
I get it from the Key Largo Fisheries. It's right by Pilot House.
“Hehehehhooohohooooo” 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
What brand is that blue line you use
This is the blue line I use: amzn.to/2jXB5k8 So far i've really liked it. Will be trolling for wahoo with it on Sunday. I have the #30lb mono size on the 3000 yard spool. Should last me for a while!
I use a spoon for descaling it does a much better job and much faster I think. I have seen you scale many fish but never seen you use a spoon? Is there something you don't like about using a spoon?
Sometimes I wonder why they put a limit on snappers
I hope i can go there to fish with you.
build or buy your self a pinfish (choofer) trap, restrict the throat size to catch the size live bait you want to fish with, put some fish scraps in your trap the night before and never go without live bait again. pin fish or choofers are as good as it gets in live bait.
GOOD LUCK!!!
Logger John.
Yea I need one!
nice video i wonder if the fines are high? if they catch you with fish that is too small. I have sent you a fish recipe by mail
I'm not sure I think probably between $100-300 fine. That's something i'm never going to get in trouble for. It's too much work to fillet a fish that's small anyways! lol
And a big thanks for the recipe. I'll try to make this with some yellowtail snapper and will give you a shoutout. I'm going fishing for yellowtail tomorrow =)
what no cold ones lol,i don't know with the boat,i would think there would be bigger fish in the ocean, but I watched deep dropto and I subed, nice vid on your own boat
thanks gary. I'll be finding much bigger fish soon! I'll be doing some more deep dropping and trolling for mahi this weekend if the weather doesn't go to crap
cool,iam on board with that
15:20 yea that was the best times then 2020 came
Looks like you need fishing buddy...ill be your fishing buddy :)
where do you live? cheers
Yummmm
How many hp is your outboard?
It's a 200hp
How fast does your boat go???
up to 36 knots when it's just me w/ the wind at my back. 27.5 knots when I have 4 people and a bunch of gear on the boat.
K thanks btw, nice vid
Get a 5 gallon bucket of water and do your de-scaling in the bucket, under the water. No mess!
is that a Coors light in your cooler?
Jacob Wolfe Fishing aq=
leave your wait on dude...
one thirsty manatee
I bet they can drink for hours!
Looked like he had human hands to me.
So far can hear you loud and clear on your new mic
Try hooking your mullet through the nose
ONE coors light lmao
Nice video but don't be afraid to hold the fish.
Is this cattle pens
mm i don't think so. Where is cattle pens at?
What boat an motor
236cc Key Largo w/ a 200hp mercury saltwater series
Get yourself a cast net . You will have unlimited live bait and will catch more fish. Great video Glad I found your channel. Cheers from Ontario.
I caught all the bait in this video with a cast net lol. Cheers man! Hope it's not too cold up there yet
Mangrove snapper r the bestttttt
So much for silence! lol😭
Nice video. Where is the queen of the ship?
She wasn't with me on this trip. She was at home doing princess stuff. But I just uploaded a video of us yesterday, she came out with me
That sinker is probably knocking the hook loose
They keep spitting the hook bc the weight slides down and when it head shakes the weight being closer to the hook makes it pop out
yea that was a bad setup. I've learned a lot since this video =)
How much anchor rope to you carry?
I think I have 150-200ft on it.
what is the deepest you feel you can get a decent hold with that? I realize wind and current play a role.
❤️
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
With age comes experience. Those early years where you were learning how to fish. Hope you learned how to fish. Produce new video and show us. Thanks.
Dude did you ever try artificials?
