Something that everyone knows: Chelsea are that bad, Manchester City are just too good. I know people will say, “don’t overreact, it’s just the first game of the season we have a new manager, just relax and chill out”, but it seems like their problems has been the same as it’s always been irrespective of who their manager is and there are still signs that nothing has changed in their team and their poor preseason has carried over to the first game of the season. Realistically speaking, nobody gave them an actual chance of winning this game or getting something out of the game even though when they were behind, they were still in the game and their performance wasn’t as bad as people think it is, the reality against a team that weren’t really at full strength and were able to pick and choose their moments, they should be happy that they didn’t lose by 5 goals because on any given day if they were at their very best, the scoreline would’ve been different and the gap in quality between the 2 teams is absolutely staggering and it’s not even close. I’m not saying that Chelsea are on Manchester City’s level, but it should be surprising that a team that has spent over a billion dollars on players, they have turned into a mid table club and this is the reality of the situation that many people have accepted. Conor Gallagher started 30 league games at #10, with Palmer playing on the right for most of those. It will be interesting if Maresca moves Palmer to a more central role in some/most games, as the lineup against City could be a one-off. Chelsea competed well against City - two lapses in concentration cost two goals.

This is not the Roman era where they can fire coaches and still carry on winning. Something that everyone knows: Chelsea are that bad, Manchester City are just too good. I know people will say, “don’t overreact, it’s just the first game of the season we have a new manager, just relax and chill out”, but it seems like their problems has been the same as it’s always been irrespective of who their manager is and there are still signs that nothing has changed in their team and their poor preseason has carried over to the first game of the season. Realistically speaking, nobody gave them an actual chance of winning this game or getting something out of the game even though when they were behind, they were still in the game and their performance wasn’t as bad as people think it is, the reality against a team that weren’t really at full strength and were able to pick and choose their moments, they should be happy that they didn’t lose by 5 goals because on any given day if they were at their very best, the scoreline would’ve been different and the gap in quality between the 2 teams is absolutely staggering and it’s not even close.
I’m not saying that Chelsea are on Manchester City’s level, but it should be surprising that a team that has spent over a billion dollars on players, they have turned into a mid table club and this is the reality of the situation that many people have accepted. From Manchester City’s perspective, it was a great way to start yet another title defense, they remain the team to beat and I really don’t see how any one can stop them from doing a 5peat of titles in the premier league since their team is just so good and have proven time and time again that they don’t need to be at their best every week as they do enough to win games even when they’re not at full strength and from Chelsea’s perspective, once again they’re a work in progress and things desperately have to change otherwise they’re set up for another miserable season and Enzo Maresca buddy, yes he’s on a 10 year contract, but unfortunately depending on how bad their results are, he’s going to last for 5 months as they’re going to find a way to sack him.

Cole Palmer played most of the last season from the right, and produced some of his best performances in that position, not from the center.
Playing Enzo as the 10 was ridiculous. he is not capable and he was put there while Palmer was shoved out wide.
Conor Gallagher started 30 league games at #10, with Palmer playing on the right for most of those.
It will be interesting if Maresca moves Palmer to a more central role in some/most games, as the lineup against City could be a one-off.
Chelsea competed well against City - two lapses in concentration cost two goals.
