Hi Rob, great to get the vid and great to hear you like your AM sorc build and the psionic spell feature. Hopefully your fine selection of books (from the background) has found its new place. IMO AM sorc is not the easiest class to start playing dnd (as I found out myself). To have a rough idea on the gears working together in spellselection-metamagic-concentration-focus(control/blaster/..) and to grain it down on a straight build is a bit demanding but much rewarding. The possibilities of what kind and how to build sorcs are numerous. My fav for AM are 1. Riding the beholderkin while having a non-concentration AoE and spawning EBs or 2. focusing on forced movement with telekinetic feat/telekinesis with ADV magical guidance. Already wrote about it on your saltmarsh vid and as always heavily inspired by Rob Verras comments. Now I am getting into the mood to start and try out the builds again... talking about sorcs feels like homecoming, can't help it.
@@whispers7235 appreciate the shoutout here. That was one of my fave builds. Sorcs is arguably my fave class and my area of expertise. Warlocks and Rangers rounding out my top 3. My GM has fully transitioned into PF2E so outside of baldurs gate 3, i'm out oF DND. I am up though for dnd one-shots that dont use the new rulesets (which i havent researched). I'm trying to convince a friend to run a one-shot.
Glad to know that you are still somehow into DnD. My own group broke up a year ago, then I spent some time as a free radical before connecting again with new people and campaigns (all on a beginners level which I am not so happy). I started to offer DMing on our local RPG events (basically One-shots with strangers): Death in Space and Mörk Borg. Which felt like my first time playing: instead of building and optimising a char it's building and optimising a One-shot for a group. Currently waiting to see the official mods for BG3, I will have a go on trials of tav for sure.
@@whispers7235 i still discuss with friends once in a while over discord but my main play group has fully moved on to PF2E and gloomhaven. I am open to one-shots though if one of my friends decides to run though i have not followed dnd 2024 nor any of the books past monsters of the multiverse. I did alot of build guides on red-dit on BG3. thats how i got my dnd fix.

And now the two of you - I could easily imagine a certain quality nowhere else to find. And for the possibility to play a One-Shot? A dream might come true. Please, do read me as excited, but not as a fan. I just happen to really like quality content and like to spend my time well. And there are more than enough big dnd YT channels with few insights.
Aberrant mind seems like THE sorcery type to be. I've wanted to play it, but haven't had the chance. So thankful for your experience with the subclass.
@@PatRiot-le7rd aberrant mind is an excellent sorc subclass its 3rd best, arguably 2nd which allows for a variety of role playstyles: control, blaster, summoner.
All good. Sounds like a rough past few months. Sorry to hear you and your wife are getting separated. That must be tough. On to the aberrant mind. One of my fave sorcs as i like psionics but i wouldnt put it above the clockwork soul. Maybe not even above the divine soul. Its close to the divine soul for that #2 slot but is arguably #3. IMO if you're looking for new stuff to talk about, why not try gloomhaven or PF2E for a vid or 2? sprinkle it within the dnd stuff like you did with the k-drama commentary.
Hi Rob, I read loads of your comments of dnd builds and I want to say humbly thank you for inspiring me. IMO #1 CS sorc (wall of force) #2 AM sorc (psi feature and social skills). Not played Divine yet.

I just think the versatility of accessing the cleric's spell list trumps what aberrant offers. My full ranking: 1. Clockwork 2. Divine 3. Aberrant 4. Shadow 5. Wild (DM-dependent) 6. Draconic 7. Storm
