The Nigerian state unfortunately is a classic example of a union that is not " working"..systemic nepotism & endemic corruption by our political elite has eaten the very root of our nation's existence.
The cascading situation in Nigeria is historical. Amalgamating nations that have nothing in common except the colour of skins is a recipe for endless conflicts. We can at best be good neighbors but not sharing the same roof. I can't ser anything wrong with living apart.

Amaka doesn't sound like an independent educated Nigerian living in a western country, she doesn't sound like she really knows much about how Nigeria works. First of all, i'm very certain unemployment is far above 50% Labor laws are consistently violated even when uGet aJob Private businesses are dying from extreme costs and extreme societal failures we're living in the 21st century but Nigerians are enduring hardships of the 19th century The biggest economy in Africa still can't afford to educate its citizens, provide good health services, provide any form of security.... If there is very little income mobility, working isn't going to help ur going nowhere and in most countries like this the jobs that would get u out of poverty almost always go to people with money already so very little people get out of extreme poverty. Although it has increased in years because of the internet and people leaving, then sending money back home so that their family could access those jobs is still hard for most people and is not as easy as you say it is. the first problem with the country is that it isn't safe, u can get around corruption as u see with kenya booming economy and fast growing middle class tho being incredibly corrupt but with there being a breech in national security that is a major problem as not only do u have to worry about lack of infrastructure or corruption but also that u can get hurt or harmed while there. There's not been democracy but civil rule. The military exchanged the military only took off their military uniform. And corruption is now more rampant under civil rule as rooms have been created to include more sectors, departments , people in this civil rule . Imagine over 90% yearly budgets are shared amongst the ruling class from federal to local governments and their friends outside government (Western nations inclusive) while less than 10% of budget is used for substandard projects. Take Britain saying they give 250million pounds of aid yearly to Nigeria (with no evidence) and in return the corrupt class launders billions of pounds to Britain yearly through British banks. Dubai, London,Paris , Switzerland, US and other western countries are all gateways to Nigerian laundered billions . The luxurious property market in Dubai and other western countries is partly fueled by Nigerian stolen billions. Etc

The invited guests were clearly sympathetic to the current government and only made thin efforts at projecting balanced views. Viewers would have benefitted more from hearing opposing views as well. Al-jazeera lost an opportunity there. 2. The subject of discussion itself does not do justice to the problems of the day. As Winston Churchill stated, democracy is the worst form of government, except for the others. The problem is therfore not democracy Itself, but the people who will not allow it flourish. The man at the head today is Buhari and rather than improve it, he is pulling the country into an abyss. A more appropriate toprc would have been," Has Nigerian Done Well Under Buhari."
