Antiochus was banning Judaism and wanted to kill all Jews. A type of Antchrist. If he had been successful the bloodline to Yeshua would have been destroyed and Messiah would not have been born. It's why it has such deep meaning the Yeshua himself observed it in The Book of John. It was called The Feast of Dedication at that time.
You don't have to celebrate it. It is mentioned in John 10, Jesus was present at the feast of dedication. It is the same feast. So He celebrated it as did all the Jews in His time. The whole point of The story of Antiochus and the dedication of the temple is that it foreshadows the rise of the future Antichrist who in a similar fashion defiles the future third temple, unleashing the great tribulation and ultimately destroyed at the second coming of Christ. It's an interesting piece of history with a future application. No one says you have to practice it. 45:37
