the newest has one hand opening blade.the new 111mm models use liner lock, older had side lock.also the new has lock and bigger flat head screwdriver because you can use it as prybar (Strong Crate Opener as Victorinox suggests).
Since I couldn't find a straight edge, one hand trekker, I bought this. Very happy with it. I'm planning to replace the scales with dual density, desert scales.
Another nice review WGR👍 You might want to check out the Victorinox One Hand Trekker, I'm sure you've probably heard about. It's my daily carry although I do have quite a few SAKs and have them stashed in many kits as they are so handy. The Trekker however is always with me every day and has been so handy over the 10 years of it being my primary carry knife/multitool. I carry it in a homemade leather pocket pouch that holds it, my Skillcraft B3 Aviator pen, a double tipped medium and fine tip sharpie, and my Fenix RC05 SE flashlight. Oh and the lockable flat tip screwdriver cap lifter is a pretty solid prying scraping tool that I've used and appreciated so much over the years. Keep up the great reviews I'll be watching!
Thank you. :) I'll check out the Trekker. I've looked at a few of the larger 111mm SAK's, but I'm kind of a creature of habit. It's really tough for me to get away from my trusty 91mm SAK. I've been carrying a Benchmade Bugout as a larger single blade knife. I've been really liking that one. Way more than I would have expected when I first looked at it. You are carrying one of my favorite multi pens. The B3 Aviator is amazing. I was so pleasantly surprised with that one. Such a good pen. :) I haven't tried the Fenix RC05 SE. How have you been liking that one?
This kind of tool will help modifying material such as wood as well metal in scenarios in the wild where you have to modify or repair your equipment, or if you have access to scrap metal where you are that you can use to build tools or assist with whatever you doing in the wild.
That's an excellent idea. I need to make a video on it sometime in the future. Not sure of the exact number. Way less than I've bought. I've given a bunch away too. :)
This is like a Trailmaster, but it has the metal file/saw that adds the practical ability to file a magnesium block. I swear this is a compromise. If Victorinox could make this with the one handed blade, I would be over the moon and would buy many as presents for my friends who hike etc.👍😀
2:00 Victorinox changed the bottle opener/screwdriver on its 111mm series a couple of years ago, going a little bigger. I was taken by surprise too then. I like the new model though.
Many SAK reviewers are surprised by the metal file, fewer still even mention that it is a metal saw. I wonder how useful a metal saw might be to a locksmith? Homework! And there is no math. lol
@@saviom8166 Won't work on any decent padlock that has a hardened shackle. Crazy really, fancy making any padlock without that feature but they do, plenty are made in China.
@@steveclark.. True. It was a small, thin padlock. Also used it on some screws. I have also used it on a crude iron chain that was used to lock an ancient door on my old home. Got me in when I had lost the key to lock on that door, saved the day .

I am thinking about getting one of those. looks like the file would come in handy for sharpening my soviet shovel.

I bet that will look nice with the alternate scales.
I prefer the 91mm for pocket carry but when I go outdoors I prefer the 111mm. These are carried in a sheath, of course.
I can definitely see upgrading to the larger 111mm for camping. :)

That is interesting like the liner lock option.....how many victorinox do you own? Would love to see the complete collection laid out!!

The current model has a one hand open blade, version in the video is an older model

Ah. Thanks for the info. :)
Nice review. You must have a wonderful collection. Question the yellow Swiss knife, which one is that
spartan model

I've used Victorinox metal saws to cut through padlocks.

What did you think to the amount of play in the blade?
It didn't strike me as being bad.
