So helpful. I shall be embarking on my first coat shortly and this has given me both confidence and helpful skills which I can keep coming back to. Thank you Angela
Your tutorials are so well done and love to watch you create your garments. Really makes me want to go sew a nice jacket. I did a 3 year apprenticeship in full garment construction about 36 years ago but still the best thing I ever did and have never forgotten many techniques. I still love to sew anything from garments to craft and quilting as well. You give me so much joy Thank you
Thank you Tracy. You are so right. These kind of skills never date. I studied fashion and pattern cutting in the mid 70s, as a mature student I might add, and of course I am still using the same techniques. The desire to create original stuff has never been more popular I'm glad to say.
Angela your tutorial is easy to follow and professional - thank you. I feel confident now lining a blazer, which isn't included in the pattern I'm using.
Dear Angela, i am Anastasia from Indonesia thanks a lot for your videos its really help me. I love your way to describing. very clear for a stranger like me. sorry for my bad English. I just trying my best . God bless you Angela.. I love you..
Exellent explaining. Love your videos. Can you make video on explaining making pattern and sewing coat for overweight people? Hope to get replay soon.😁
Your videos always make me learn about techniques! I would personally had done the lining hem differently. I would have used the fusible tape you used on the collar to hem the lining before slip stitching it to the coat, so that the lining has no visible stitches on the hem. Anyway, you are the best sewing teacher on youtube. I tried making your jeans and they turned so fantastic, they fit like a glove. I made two pairs and I used some denim wax on one of them to give it a shiny, leathery look and I always get compliments when I wear them!
+Kiki Contreras Hi Kiki, Sorry to reply so late to your lovely comment. I'm really flattered. I agree, there are so many ways to do things. I like to keep an open mind and try out new methods and experiment as new challenges come along. There is never just a right way. I'm really pleased to hear about your jeans. I must admit I worked very hard to get both the men's and the women's patterns just right. Jeans are one of the hardest garments to make. I'm very pleased I got it out there.
Just discovered you. Love you already. About to embark on my first lined jacket. Will follow you throughout. Just one observation. Would have found it a bit easier to follow if the lining had been a different colour to the main fabric. My old eyes are not as good as they used to be! Many thanks x
Hello! These videos are very helpful for tips and tricks as I finish work on my first suit jacket. I noticed the handy little hemming guide you're using. Can you tell us where we might find/how we could make something similar?
Did you slip stitch the entire bottom hem of the lining to the shell? It seems as if the hem is open or maybe I missed a step. I only saw you hand sew the edge
+studentRN81 Hi, I gather you mean slip stitching the lining to the coat at the hem. Yes I left the lining hem to flow freely. I think traditionally coat lining has always been treated this way where as a jacket lining will be attached at the hem by either slip stitching or using the 'bag' method. But I have to say these days I see a lot of coats using the jacket method.
+ayad al akrb Hello ayad, Take a look at this video ruclips.net/video/18W00a_6BAQ/видео.html at about 2:50. I am explaining about sewing machine needles. And watch this one ruclips.net/video/tT4vzW8HYkw/видео.html - I start by describing the sewing threads I like to use. I like Gutermann sewing threads.
Everything about your lessons are exact, and lovely! Thank you!!! How fortunate we are to have you!

Hello Angela, may I ask what kind of white fabric do you use when ironing?

you are great!
+Pavani Karthigesu Thanks so much!
Hello Angela Kane, did you slip stitch the bottom of the hem? or did you just leave that open? Thank you!! :) :)

Can you explain what happened at 2:25 more? I'm still so confused at what you sewed at 5:20
It was a blind stitch to hold it in place I think. You can also use hemming tape to hold it in place without it being shown on the right side
I need to learn how to do raincoat plz
Yes, that would be a good project. I've added it to the list.
I didn't understand the way I sewed it from under the coat....Please understand me...tnks
