- The Museum of Flight hosted the Seattle Rep for a special Come From Away presentation. Seattle Repertory Theatre Literary Director Kristin Leahey discussed the historic events of September 11, 2001, which created the unlikely scenario on which this new musical is based: 38 planes with 7,000 passengers from all over the world were diverted to the tiny town of Gander, Newfoundland (population 8,000), where they were housed, fed and comforted by the citizens for the next five days. Also featured at this program were writers, composers, and lyricists Irene Sankoff and David Hein;
Beverley Bass, the first female Captain of American Airlines;
Chelsea LeValley (singer) and Chris Ranney (accompanist); and
Diane and Nick Marson, who were two of the “plane people” who met during their stay in Gander.
