Thanks for showing this deep cleaning! I've had two in my collection that need attention, but have been ambivalent to put my hand to them. I shall move them up in the cue. Again, thanks for the video!

Automotive heat treated cork gasket material and a set of different diameter punches. That's how I did mine. After you use the strong sealing cork sheets you'll find tons of uses for it.

@@cesspresso they may be other videos out there. But basically you use a pipet or dropper to put ink into the barrel with the nib pulled back. Not too much. After that you push the nib forward and seal the pen. I’ll see if I can share a quick video with you if I can

Alcohol is a shellac solvent. I am not sure if alcohol will adversely affect the hard rubber (according to The Fountain Pen Network, alcohol will not harm hard rubber), but alcohol will definitely dissolve a shellac seal.

Absolutely, I've used denatured alcohol many times for shellac. May I ask why you mention this? Maybe I should rewatch my video to see what you might be referring to

@@letstalkfountainpens8052 At 57:10 you talk about maybe needing to get the cork out and suggest you may have shot yourself in the foot by using shellac to cement it in.
